@@angrut He's the guy who fights for lower ranked players to get more money. His handshakes after the match are more honest than most of the players. You can hear him defending other guys like he defended Alcaraz the other day in his press conference. He was always emotional, yelling, breaking the racket... And media portrayed him as a bad guy of tennis. Also because they already planned to have Federer and Nadal as the main guys, and Novak stepped in between. Also, media always tried to use things against him to create more drama and build tension during tournaments. Like when he was talking about equal pay for men and women in tennis, and said guys should fight for more. He had balls to say that and was slaughtered by the media. Let's be honest, who produces more entertainment a d brings more people to the sport? But when, for example, Roger is salty after US open 2011 or few years before that calling Novak a quitter because of his health issues, media close their eyes to that. Why? Because Roger was the face of tennis, he is not supposed to say anything wrong, he's perfect. It's obvious what kind of people hate Novak, those who can't think for themselves and just follow whatever mainstream narrative is. He's not right about everything but he speaks his mind and shows his emotions, as we all should do. But in today's world, there's this tendency to make people more generic, politically correct and robotic. That's why Novak is weird to many, he's not one of the brainwashed.

Tennis will not be the same once this man retires. He has dominated the sport like no one before him and he has elevated everyone around him. Those that describe him as a defensive player have no clue. There isnt a shot in the mans arsenal that isnt elite. He just knows how to win and plays the right shot for the right time in the match and in his career. Let's not forget the dude had elbow surgery and had to reinvent his game. Now at 36 he is arguably playing his most aggressive tennis, because the legs arent the same at 36 as they were at 26 so needs to shorten games and matches - (which is why youre seeing more serve and volleys) and yet he still dominates. Enjoy it while it lasts there wont be another one like him.

Nobody has a drop shot like Djoković. His backhand down the line is the best backhand in tennis, or the best I’ve seen and I’ve been watching tennis since about 1998. I never understood where the myth of ‘defensive’ player came from. He is an absolute offensive juggernaut, which is confirmed by his dominance on hard and grass courts. From cross court forehands, down the line and cross court deep backhands, precise and timely drop shots, net approaches and volleys, his versatility is unrivaled.

You can make out, you're a casual viewer of tennis and not an actual player, no offense, just based on your statement.
I'm a die-hard Djokovic fan, but neither is he the most versatile or an offensive juggernaut, or the most complete. And all the shots you've mentioned, every ATP player plays them.
Federer and Alcaraz are pure offensive players. And arguably more complete. Certainly, Alcaraz is more complete.
Djokovic is primarily an opportunistic player, i.e., with the depth and accuracy of his groundstrokes, he's able to draw a slightly short ball or a mishit shot, and then he goes for the kill. Alcaraz and Federer's strategy is to finish the point from shot 1 itself.
Djokovic is a world-class volleyer, but he's most comfortable at the baseline. He does look a little off balance and ungainly in the mid-court and even at the net. Whereas Federer and Alcaraz look absolutely at home in those regions. Smash is another shot, which is definitely not the Serbs' strong suit.
What makes Djokovic the absolute GOAT is primarily his mentality and will to win. In addition to having all the skills necessary, tangible and intangible, which goes into making the greatest baseline player ever.

The stats also don't align with your opinion.
A complete player is one who is equally comfortable in the 3 zones of the court: net, mid-court, and baseline. Djokovic would rather stay at the baseline.
He is the most complete baseline player, yes, no one close. But players like Alcaraz and Federer are equally comfortable in all three zones of the court. Doesn't mean they are better than Djokovic.
I'm sorry - I'm a Novak fan here - but to see the 2. top comment here start with "Nobody has a drop shot like Djokovic." is just false... Novak's game is near impenetrable, and his dropshots are top tier... But he is far from having the best drop shot in the game (or a particularly unique one).

For me the ultimate domination of Novak at Melbourne was the 2019 Australian Open finals against Rafa where he won it in straight sets[ 6:3, 6:2, 6:3.] The whole match was in domination mode that ended within 1 hour 47 minutes. I remember it was an obliteration day of Nadal, he seems clueless and the crowd was flabbergasted. I reckon this video deserves quite a few minutes from that match.

I will give the 2023 Novak 8/10, there is some room for improvement.still he can't finish the point with an overhead smash when it matters, and the serve needs to be improved, Wimbledon final he missed an easy overhead for break point in the 5th, and his first serve percentage was very less in the second set of the wimbledon final, he was struggling to get free point, he was far from perfect, 2019-2020 he was a better player, What do you think?
