Could probably be an idea to hotglue that dividers instead of using superglue. That way if you want to change it later a simple heat gun will make the hotglue come of without a mark.

    • @Monkeh616
      @Monkeh616 6 месяцев назад +6

Or a bit of alcohol - releases the glue, no heat and no risk of melting anything else.

You keep getting me in trouble! Bought the Ansell glove (only got forgiven because I got the missus some too. Both love them). Just treated myself to a load from unilite as keep meaning too and keep putting it off. Decent saving by the way, so thank you. And now the missus has caught me eying up the pack out kits. If you don't hear from me within a few weeks send help, or search party.

I looked van storage about 18months ago and found Bott to be pretty good. The racking is well built and fixes to the van without modification and is crash tested. Although the Milwaukee kit looks well built it’s plastic! My whole van racked out (Transit custom) was under £2.5K. Worth looking at the alternatives before committing.

Really interesting this mate and appreciate you sharing the prices.
I reallyyyyyy want to go down the Packout route but just can’t justify the price atm. I’ve got all dewalt T-Stak stuff which does the job but this just looks so practical.
I think over time I’ll chip away at a few bits and eventually do something similar to my van like you have..and then when my power tools start failing I might even switch over to the Milwaukee gear

I'm a commercial electrical improver atm, so I haven't had the need to fit out a van just yet. Definitely see myself going down this route when the time comes.
I have their latest packout bag and slim packout organiser that I attach to the underside to carry my bits and bobs. Perfect combo for moving around a site and multiple floors. Highly recommend.
EDIT: Fellow Brit, I say it as "Mill-War-Key".

Stanley Pro-Stak here, purely because I don't have the funds or the inclination to spend too much on something that is a very small part of my business. If I were a spark, plumber then deffo go down that route, or if I did data/comms all day every day. That being said I do use Veto bags (and soon to be Velocity) - so my financial statement makes no bloody sense really!!!
I do get envious of their latching system though, plus seeing Adam kit out his Connect as it's the same as mine, although I do have an electronics repair bench in there too!
It is a lot of money, but then so is Sortimo, Bott etc - and the Packout is more purposeful imho. You do what makes you happy.... but I reckon it is definitely an addiction - as if tools weren't a bad enough addiction as it is!!

  • @mk1gte

I always try and judge it in terms of returns when I buy tools, etc. Will it actually make me any money? I appreciate the convenience of getting to everything quickly and I've been guilty of my van being out of hand with mess. But as nice as it is will you earn from it? I use eurocrates (in stacks of 4 with the bottom one screwed to the van floor. My power tools are in macpack boxes as I got a load on special offer. The Lidl parkside organisers are brilliant and fit perfectly in crates as well. I've got a generic fold down sack truck. Finally I've got a Makita soft bag with wheels which I can chuck a load of stuff in if I've got a bit of a walk to site. I've probably spent about £300 max on storage and it works really well for me. I guess the inconvenience is if something is in the bottom crate that I want I have to lift the others off, but for the investment it works well. Also, I think the amount of space wasted in terms of the actual amount of items you can get into the space taken up by the packout system is not great. There's a lot of plastic taking up room in terms of the sides, the lids, the drawers etc which all takes up van space.

Good honest review Nick! Currently as a commercial/industrial electrician i have wooden racking and a magnusson toolbox stack (which pound for pound is very very good). Possibly persuaded into investment in milwaukee in the future although if money is no object then sortimo all the way for me.

If you're talking about the old Magnusson stacks which is now being sold as erbauer then I would have to agree, they are absolutely brilliant. I used mine for about a year and they're really good boxes for the price. However I was getting to the point where I was spending a good 10 minutes looking through crates for a tool that I knew I had but couldn't find. That's when I bought the Milwaukee 3 drawer, a crate and a half worth of tools went into that semi organised and now I very rarely struggle to find a tool. I have since replaced my rolling stack with Milwaukee and the fast locking action is amazing

    Food for thought.
Ask how valuable time is to an 80 yr old.
The most value is in off loading boxes and into your worksite.
Secondary your van breaks down and you need to moove your tools into another vehicle while you wait 4 months for repair parts to come in.
    Lastly your van is totaled/traded.
Modular = movable into work sites,or new vehicles.
Now ask the 80yr old again.
Don't spend money you can't afford to.

    • @michaeljarcher
      @michaeljarcher 6 месяцев назад +2

Material costs don't pay for the teams of people who design products, nor the volume shipping storage or distribution associated with products, let alone the design patent costs around the planet where you want to sale too. It really adds up a lot, and you get a small window to get a realistic return on investment, and all the middlemen take their margins. End users never get a true value proposition in almost every market.

    I say mill-walkie
You said you got the first aid kit from amazon, they're not an official seller of milwaukee so if you're buying the packout stuff from them milwaukee may not honour the warranty

Milwaukee is all overpriced. I work with other engineers who are mat-scientists, steel or PA6 (30 or above) whole van in around £650. I admire the Milwaukee reps and branding, they’re proper predators. Nasty spiteful, gimlet-eyed PR. Fair play to them. That said, I really like your vids and I really hope you’re doing better now. You are a great guy and talented. Caring too much can be a curse too!
Stanley fat max trays are also well sealed.
I am glad you’re happy with tradify. Loads of free or cheap CMO apps, I wouldn’t use a boxed system. They look like those useless goals at apadmi coded their facile system. Wix/Squarespace give you all the merchant services you need without being rinsed.
Perceived negativity notwithstanding your channel is great, recently re-subbed (YT break, not you)

I don’t think it really matters how you say it, but it’s not the mil you’re getting wrong. I think it’s the wau bit, you say milwokkee but it’s milwarkee

Massively bulky and most of it is in the van.
Your not dragging it all over site.
Simplify you gear , you don’t need all of that.
Van kit out for. £2.5 k plus van vaults still cheaper than sortimo.
