    Do you think it would be possible to have the front cover, back cover, and the unglued spine be one solid piece of cardstock? Would there be any reason you could see that it wouldn't work?

    • @LVHandcrafted
      @LVHandcrafted  29 дней назад +1

      I think that would work just fine! The only reason I don't do it that way is so I can have thicker cardstock as the front and back covers and something a little lighter weight as the spine so it's easy to bend back the covers. But I think it would work as one piece as well!

  • @viannam5483
    @viannam5483 2 месяца назад +2

    I dont need to make blank notebooks, but I'd be VERY interested in seeing how DECORATED CARDSTOCK pages can be bound using this method. I want to work on one cardstock page at a time, add photos and papers, then bind them to make a scrapbook album. What's the max thickness of available glue strips? Would this work better than, say, ring binders? Let me know if you try

    • @LVHandcrafted
      @LVHandcrafted  2 месяца назад +3

      Hi! The maximum the thermal cinch can bind is 1.4" thick book. To do that, you should just lay down your glue strips side by side. So if I wanted to make a 1" book, I would use 2 half inch glue strips.
      The challenge i see with binding decorated cardstock is if you add a lot of dimension to your album pages. Because the left edge is going to get pinched tightly against the glue. If there's a lot of dimension on your pages, I think your book will start to look like an overstuffed taco. For mini albums I prefer the hidden hinge or a stacked hinge binding. A ring binder would be fantastic too.

      Oh also, I will try binding thicker papers next so I will experiment and report back! Lol

      @@LVHandcrafted ... I'm interested also in how this binding method stands up to wear & use - as I'd be writing in the notebook daily, right? Or is it meant to just tear out pages?

    Hello I just purchase the cinch.,thank you for the helpful tips . Just wondering have anyone try scoring the pages along with the covers.

    • @LVHandcrafted
      @LVHandcrafted  Месяц назад

      Hi Sadee! Thanks for checking out my video. 💗I have scored the pages as well to see if it helps when you are using thicker papers like heavyweight cardstock or watercolor papers. It helps but it definitely doesn't lay as flat as when you're using thinner / copy paper. I'm still playing with ideas for how to get those types of notebooks to lay flatter.

  • @shellyp8731
    @shellyp8731 2 месяца назад +2

    Could you burnish more with a bone folder to help it lay more flatly or would that cause the page to pop away from the glue?

    • @LVHandcrafted
      @LVHandcrafted  2 месяца назад +4

      I think burnishing would help especially if you are using thicker papers. I want to try to make maybe an art journal kind of book with watercolor paper to see how it works with thick paper. I don't think it will dislodge the paper from the glue especially if you score before you bind.

      @ Thank you. It’s why I haven’t bought the Thermal Cinch yet because I really want my journals to be able lay flat and I know this method, the perfect binding method, doesn’t generally allow the completed book to lay flat, as you say. Yet, of course, you have found a way to make it work! I’ll look forward to learning more from you as you test it out. Right now I’m still enjoying my multi cinch! 🩵 I really do appreciate your reviews and tutorials! Thank you! 😊

    • @LVHandcrafted
      @LVHandcrafted  2 месяца назад +2

      Have you done the Coptic stitch binding? That will lay perfectly and the multi cinch has the punch for it! It's so great! But it does take a lot more time. Lol. I'll try a perfect bound book with thicker papers next!

    "gently burnish the spine..." Me: slapping it with the flat side of a ruler ...still managed to miss pages, but I was trying to bind an incredible worn, stapled booklet back together. I just glued them in with elmer's glue 😁
