It's the nicest airport lounge I've ever been in. Loved the design and also food options were actually legitimately competitive w/ a priority pass restaurant (if given the option between a priority pass restaurant and any actual lounge, I would choose the former... with this notable exception).
So nice that it'd honestly be a reasonable tiebreaker to file w/ American through DFW rather than United through IAH for a connection, all else being equal (i.e. flight pricing, status).

Hey Sebby, great video. Are you planning to create a video to assess which CC will be best from a benefits perspective for different use cases. E.g. for car rental - would CSR be best considering primary coverage or for air travel - would Amex Bonvoy be best considering life, trip delay and baggage coverage? I do that assessment when I travel which adds a lot of value to a card especially while traveling.

Hey Sebby, been a viewer for years, and you've always been my favorite creator in this area.
If you're looking at comments, I come with a video request/suggestion:
"Best consistent redemption options for Amex/Chase".
I've watched hundreds of videos (from all creators) showing "Book Business class to London for 40k with $5 fee only, etc", but in 3 years of frequent traveling I've never found something quite like that, and I look every time.
But, for example, during those years, I've transferred ~400k~ UR to high end Hyatt resorts and always had simple use with a high cpp rate.
I want to know, what are "Hyatt"s are out there, that are consistently available that I'm missing out on.

I also have both CSR and now have the venture X. I can see myself keeping the venture X long term but the verdict is still out on the CSR. I’ve been using Lyft pink mainly to get free grub hub deliveries which pairs well with my Amex gold but that doesn’t justify the $250 affective annual fee. Also I just booked a hotel with the Capitol one portal and it was MUCH smoother than using the chase travel portal. The flight portal is familiar since I used hopper in the past. Also the price drop protection for flights is a nice pro. I don’t have much experience with customer service yet but the few times I’ve had to call they have been great.

So I started with Chase Freedom card like 7-8 years ago as my starter card to build credit. I’ve built my credit up and since Covid started to spend money on home office, and Chase has pre approved me for the Chase Sapphire Reserve so I’m considering taking advantage of that, as I will be moving later this year so I would actually use the spend limit in 1st/3mo for point bonus. Very interested in learn more about credit cards and how to build credit but also how to use them in a way where they pay me back.

I think the big question remains is how good is the Capital One Portal. If it’s at a cost parity to the cash price, this would be the preferred card for the casual traveler. They are basically paying you to travel.
If Capital One didn’t hate me so much, I would apply for myself and p2 while the bonus is so sweet.

Which one would you say is better to spend money overseas? The bonus points through the portals are great, but I was looking at the chase portal (as I already have the freedom one) and the portal prices of flights and accommodation overseas in europe for example, is WAAYYY more expensive! it kinda makes the portal ridiculous unless you're travelling domestic (which I don't plan on doing this year).

Through some quick Googling, I saw that the Capital One has the VentureOne card (with zero annual fee) and the card apparently has transfer partners too (15+ partners according to the VO page). Have you taken a look into this? Whether the downgrade to the VO would allow you to keep the points? And whether the transfers are maintained at the same transfer rates as the VX? If yes to both questions, I would think that this is another advantage that the VX has over the CSR. Chase doesn't have an option for you to keep your points and transfer options at zero annual fee.

My understanding is Venture does keep the points. But I also believe CFU can hold CSR/CSP points. You just loose the redemption multipliers.

So I understand with the authorized user for both but what I also wanted to know was how does that correlate with Priority Pass? With CSR I believe you get 2 free guests does the AU get that as well? What about VX? You can get 4 AUs my assumption would be no guests would that be correct?

How does the phone protection work in actual practice? My family has 4 iPhones on monthly payment plans with Verizon. If I start paying my bill now with a card that includes protection are they all immediately covered? Is filing claims a smooth & easy process or a major PITA?

    • @aaront936

You have to read the terms and conditions. Most that offer phone protections have certain caps, so idk how 4 phones would be covered.

The Bonvoy Boundless has the intro bonus of 3 free nights, but looking around it's not even easy to find a night for 50k points or less. Whereas you could go to London and stay at a Hyatt for under 10k points. For me that makes Chase so much more valuable.

    • @RandomCourtesy
      @RandomCourtesy 2 года назад

You could use these cards for business, but you would have to make sure there’s no personal spend on the cards for business accounting purposes. Capital One’s dedicated business credit cards are the Spark line, and Chase’s dedicated business credit cards are the Ink line.

    • @CLGilbert

There's nothing special about a business card per se. They just tend to make it easier to track spending and whatnot for tax purposes.

I've had a Capital One Venture card for quite a while now, so I ended up following the path of your optimal strategy. I got a Chase Sapphire Preferred right before the 100,000 mile bonus ended, and earned it after the first month. I applied and got a Venture X on the first day it became available, and just downgraded my Venture to a Venture One before the annual fee hits in a couple of days. Of course I transferred my remaining points from Venture to Venture X before downgrading. Thanks Sebby for the great content!
