The problem I have with X, Bluesky, et al, is that they're too much like drinking from a firehose and don't provide nice organizational tools. I really prefer Flickr for photography.
I'm a fan of Flickr too, but they serve different purposes and there's nothing stopping you from using both. My Flickr archive from back in the day saved a heap of my photos that got lost in a hard drive crash.
When I saw the title, I genuinely expected some photography tips for days with cloudless skies. The first couple of minutes promptly, and rather abruptly, put me right! Despite being a social media hater and non-subscriber, I thought I would continue to watch, purely for entertainment value. I was not disappointed!! Cheers!😃
Awesome Andy. HaaHa! hose pipe of fecal matter...! now I'm gonna figure how to point Bluesky to my pictures folder....after I get over the agonizingly long scroll to find my birthday.
Good question mate - and the answer is that while *everything* online is susceptible, Bluesky have not done any deals with any of the MLM developers. Using the new content credentials tool is a good idea.
Hi, great video. Quick question about the meta data being stripped from the photo. Wouldn't that be a bad thing for 'wannabe' theives who are attempting to try and take credit for your photographs and hard work, by saving, copying or downloading your images and then putting on their meta data or am I missing something? Thanks.
The metadata gets stripped on all social media platforms - Facebook, Instagram etc. The unfortunate truth is that once you upload to the Internet your photo's out there and if someone's going to ignore your copyright and use it then it's just going to happen. That said, you can use the new Content Credentials tools in apps like Lightroom to store your copyright information safely in the cloud.
I'm liking it under the Bluesky Andy. The starter packs are very useful. I've found a ton of people on Orkney including a fair few photographers. My handle's Go Rin no Sho.
@@Andyhutchinson Actually, looks like Bluesky supports Federation, but you have to opt in. Want to enable it on your account and I can try following you from Nostr?

lol - cheers mate :)
Thank you for the info and humorous delivery! Just followed you on bsky 😁
Thank-you kindly :)
I'm loving BlueSky so far, and yeah, there are tons of photographers there. I'm a casual shooter myself, but the community there is great.
That's epic - thankyou :)
Thanks for providing this useful content! I like what I see on Bluesky.
Glad you like it! 👍

Yea, it's depressing spinning that year wheel at this age ...
@@Andyhutchinson aka doom scrolling...
I recently signed up but have not done much with it yet. This content looks to be useful and I very much enjoyed the delivery!
Cheers Mike - thanks for checking it out. :)
Hi Andy, are images prey for training ai and all that stuff on bluesky or somehow immune? Especially given the recommended use of this alt text???

Hi Andy, I’m still watching to the end . . . but wondering would there be any benefit from moving from Flickr? Thanks
This is very helpful and I really like your direct presentation and approach.
lol - no worries - I prefer to just be honest in all matters :)
I’m also on bluesky, I do find it rather enjoyable. Bavarian Belle, look forward to seeing you there.
Thank-you - it's definitely a breath of fresh air. :)
Thanks for this video! I did not know I could change my handle to my own domain and you're right - it was pretty easy to do!
No worries :)
good stuff Andy ... new sub mate :P
Much appreciated, mate! Glad you enjoyed it. 👍
Thanks Andy, I've noticed Bluesky mentioned in my feed fb. Wondered what it was.
Glad to help, mate. 👍
Great explanation, Andy. As usual. Going to give it another chance.
Awesome - look me up. :)
@ already following you.
Great angle - thanks for this
No worries!
I will be starting an account this weekend when back at home Andy. Thanks for the insight and instructions on using this platform.
Nice one. Seek me out and I'll follow.
Great inside Andy! I think I will give it a go as I hate Inst/FB/etc...
Nice one! Let me know how you get on.
It works great for me, I'm enjoying it so far.
Good to hear - the question for all of us is whether or not it has longevity :)
Interesting, I'll take a look this weekend when I have a little time
Nice one. :)

Thanks mate - you live in a beautiful part of the world. :)
Brilliant thnx Andy
No worries - glad you liked it.
I thought about bluesky, but it’s another corp owned platform. These days I’m all about fediverse and use mastodon and nostr
Yea I'm on there too, but it's too skewed towards the tech side of things for me at the moment. And of course Bluesky will eventually federate.

Wonderfully cynical but also useful!!
Cheers, mate! Glad you found it helpful. 🙂
Couldn’t change my handle, said can’t verify
Maybe your server provider can assist?
I miss Google Circle.
Do you mean Google+ ?
@@Andyhutchinson Yes! They had a fantastic photography community.
Thank you😂😂😂😂😂
Welcome 😊

No worries :)
Thanks for this. Wasn’t planning to look at Blue Sky, but now I will spend some time with it.
Nice one! Let me know what you think.
