14:05 I think that's what VMP attempted to do. They scaled the case size the same percentage from the 2.3 to the 2.65 as they did the 2.65 to the 3.1 rotor pack. But even 2.65 case was still a restriction to the rotors as seen by porting gaining a lot of power. Going up just .35 liters of displacement required a much bigger case, now going to a much bigger (+.45 liters) rotor pack would've needed an even bigger case design than the 2650 had. The issue was likely packaging, the case design required to feed those 3100 rotors would've been massive. And probably not fit in valley of the heads (especially with DI taking up space), or under the hood. Just my thoughts without any insider knowledge of vmp's 3100 design.

I assume they really had no idea what went on, or else they would have stated the boostane additive.. I hate that they can't just say pump gas with octane booster.. IMO, VMP went down hill once they got hacked and lied about average power, or power under the curve when they launched the Gen3 vs Gen2 TVS.. I know 3 guys that back then traded in their Gen2r's for Gen3's and got slower.. They ate up the BS from Justin.. Both those guys ended up with Whipple 3.0's.. Unless your built motor running all out, the Gen3 is overkill for a street guy..
Funny you bought your car from Herlong. I bought my daughter a Ford Edge from there and im telling you the chick i delt with will tell you a lie. I'd have to dig up the paperwork to find her name. The Edge had to be worked on before they delivered it to me in south Georgia. The work was half ass, multiple bolts were falling out and one was cross threaded on the exhaust. I found all of this after it developed a hideous exhaust leak. Also, it had a clean Carfax but had front end damage , the bumper cover had been repainted and headlights replaced. Minor damage behind bumper cover that was NOT fixed. Ole chick told me they put the new headlights in it yet they had paint from the bumper cover repaint.

Yes.. the 5.4 makes plenty of low end torque.. The 2650 tvs is the jam on a 5.4.. If you were talking 5.0 coyote, I always say hell no, 2.3 tvs all the way.. This is coming from a street guy who might make a pass or two at a track per year if that.. The 2.3 makes the coyote that has not low end, seem awesome and fun on the streets.. your 5.4 already has enough and is larger displacement so I would always say 2650 or 3.0 whipple gen 5.. Being as your prob stick shift, and you have the really low 1st gear trans ratios, those two would be the only thing I would even consider.. Just get the best largest intercooler/heat exchanger you can find.. I had the VMP Gen2r on my gen 2 coyote, their dual fan triple pass heat exchanger worked great for me.. I also added large oil cooler & trans cooler as well..
The best bet is to find a 2.3 Trinity and do a 10% lower.. I had an 07 that I put on a Trinity pull off, 2.4 upper, 10% lower, then I needed a clutch as it smoked it, then broke driveshaft.. Then only had a Bap, and wanted to run E85, so I had to get ID1050's, then it bent a rod.. all in about 2yr period.. That combo on E85 was making well over 800whp.. TBH a 2.3 is enuff to blow up your motor, so unless your going all out you might wanna stick with a refurb Trinity or Gen2r..

As far as anyone outside of the manufacturers & Eaton I guess can tell, the R3100 pack is dead, it seems they stopped working on them at the same time(suggesting that Eaton are the ones that pulled the plug on the 4-lobe). That's the pack that VMP said didn't make any more power, that Kong Performance said didn't make any more power, Magnusson's prototype R3100 didn't make any more power, a few others. Are you saying all the companies making the cases all got the R3100 killed? Or that the R3100 was junk and the companies making the cases, or maybe just VMP, are screwing up the X3100? Did VMP even consider developing an X3100 after the failure of the R3100?
