He also played old Prince Bolkonsky in the BBC series version of War and Peace. I think that one at least deserves an honorable mention. The character is not very likeable, but his performance in that series is amazing

Topsy Turvy was really fine
Broadbent freaking out in "Moulin Rouge" is nightmare fuel. He started at an 11 and just got more intense.
My favourite Jim Broadbent movies are Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Bridget Jones's Diary, and Hot Fuzz.

Lord Longford in Longford (2006) for me really brought it home how great an actor he is.

I believe it was a 6ft 7in dwarf, aged between 15 and 50, a white male with oriental features, who's as black as Newgate's knocker and he wears a deaf-aid!

Unfortunately, not a lot of people care about Gilbert & Sullivan anymore, which is a real shame.

Don't agree with 10, I do agree, in the few films I've seen Jim Broadbent in, that he's a great actor. Same with many of the great actors in Harry Potter, I feel their performances weren't up to the standards we've come to know from them (Gary Oldham included) with the exception of Alan Rickman. I feel that was more down to directors or some other reason.
