We use a worm chow now but also veggies we process down and freeze from grocery stores (out of dates) I use the alfalfa every feeding but a grinder would make my life easier than wetting, expanding, fluffing and drying for winter feeding. Your info is very insiteful and you bless me.
You'd have a lot less dust if you connected a sleeve (could be a piece of material folded over and sewn down one side, or even a shirt sleeve or pants leg), between the output pipe on the grinder and the collection container. The aim is to minimize the exposure. Also when you grind the oyster shell, the stuff is flying everywhere. Many years ago I worked in a flour factory. Anyone working with the grinding process had to wear a twin-cartridge dust mask. Protect your health.
I've been using your worm feed recipe, or at least as close as I could get based on what available locally for me. The worms are definitely plumping up. Ordered the small worm sifter and another 5 lbs of worms. When ppl ask me where to buy worms, I send them straight to you. I've have nothing but good luck with your worms. My rendition was a touch different, as I didn't exactly the same versions of feed available. For those who can't find exactly the same thing, there are some variations. Here's what I came up with. -Alfalfa Whole Oat Pellets -Alfalfa/Timothy Hay Cubes -Smart Beets (Didn't have sweet beets) -Wild Bird Seed (Didn't have classic or fruit and nut) -Chicken Egg Laying Mash Crumbles -Sweet Horse Feed -Cracked Corn -Dried Molasses
Glad this popped up on RUclips today! Didn't get a notification. 😞 Glad to see you got the grinder. i think we'll be ordering one shortly. (We ordered one off of eBay that we had to return.) Looks like yours is doing the job, so we'll probably just order off of your link. Might as well support another wormer. 🙂
You got the same machine I use🤩 Joe made me a cover for mine because of the dust I use beet powder in mine also. I’m so glad you got it!!!! Be careful cause it can be front heavy. Joe screwed it down into my cart
You put a lot of effort into their diverse meal. Impressive. I currently just use corn meal and oat meal ground up, supplemented with veg scraps. What do you use the wheat grass for? I see a few trays to the right.
This is mainly only used to fatten them ip. We use manure, peanut hulls, straw and other commercial farm waste. We can't get enough food scraps around here with out that being a whole ànother job lol
Hi, in case of chow only bins. If a bin has 2 pounds of red wiggler worms. Are they supposed to be fed 1pound of Chow daily? Someone told me that they eat half of their body weight daily.... bcos vegies are mostly water where as chow is dense... thanks
Ingredients
- wild bird seed (fruit and nut mix) [1 part]
- sweet beet (for horses) [1 part]
- smart beet (dehydrated) [1 part]
- classic bird feed [1 part]
- chicken layer mash [1 part]
- alfalfa pellets [1 part]
- Timothy hay (pellets) [1 part]
- crack corn [1 part]
- granulated molasses [0.04 parts]
- oyster shells [quantity not specified; about as much as the molasses]
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Thanks for your efforts .... kind regards Australia
Love the grinder. Thanks for the info, I believe in sharing the knowledge rather than keeping it to ourselves.
Totally agree!

That is a great feeling!

@@MemesWorms Yup! I uploaded a video about it today. It's working very well.

I really like it!
@@MemesWorms I just ordered. 🙂
@jerry Collison let me know how you like it.
Can you use this feed as the sole source of food for your worms?
Its best to use a variety of food sources
You got the same machine I use🤩

Yeah got a cart coming

We do micro greens and feed them
@@MemesWorms you feed the microgreens to the worms? Another RUclipsr Captain Matt does that with his CFTs
That's awesome!! They are BIG worms lol
Love video
Thank you.
@@MemesWorms love four u get hold me look up to u and I'm just starting out in Wisconsin your help great full
Solid information.
Thank you
I just use laying mash and probably the best is rabbit manure
both are good to use
How much would you be selling that feed for per pound
Check out our website www.memesworms.com
Do you have your recipe written out somewhere? Would make a nice reference.
I don't it is all 1 to 1 except the molasses. It's in the first part of the video
That is a nice grinder. 🙂
Thanks AJ
That’s a very good mix, I really like it.
Glad you like it!
I have to get one of these, thanks for sharing.
You will love it!
is this meant to be the only feed or is it used with scraps? and do you mix it in or just throw it on top the bin?

Noooo no more than than a tbsp at a time. You will give them protein poisoning if your not careful.
You can feed more often if need be. But make sure what you've fed already is gone before feeding again.
Where can I find the recipe? I am from Canada and would want to see if the ingredients can be sourced from here. Thanks in advance!😊
I tell it in the video
All ingredients are 1to1 except the molasses
@@MemesWorms Thanks and continue sharing your best practices. It surely inspires others to go worm farming.😉
What do you add for grit? I’ve been using azomite. Thanks.
Pulverized oyster shells
Cut a leg off a pair of pants and put over the outflow of the grinder to control that dust….
Thanks
Where did you get the grinder from

I think I see grass turf chunk-o's.
What is that
@@MemesWorms I jus mean it looks like patches of (rye grass ? Some kinda grass) on the table. Chunks of turf.
Hopefully you wear a mask 😬
You should have shown it before and after that way it would have been interesting you didn't even say what kind of grinder it is
I'm confused, shown what before and after? I'm sorry I didn't mention the name but it is listed in the description.
