    i JUST cried to my mom this morning over stress from college and wanting more time to focus on my design job i already have and getting my beadwork jewelry business going. it’s so weird how normalized our stress and anxiety is to upkeep things that don’t satisfy us. i so badly want to beat the system. i was definitely meant to hear this message today.

    The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, he said:
    “Man.
    Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
    Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
    And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
    the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
    he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

(Yeah, I was a kid who was way beyond her years.) I never wanted to do what I saw everyone else doing. And yet, when I became an adult, I fell right in step with the very way of life I so despised. You’ve awakened this childhood dream of mine. I am officially woke and I am never going back to sleep.

      Yes! My father would come home and complain about work and I remember thinking to myself “well, I don’t want to be like that!” I had a handful of very short-term part-time jobs and worked hard in Los Angeles as a background actor and stand-in (super long days but you can somewhat choose what days you want to work and take a vacation whenever you want, if you can afford it) before finally working online (and working in film when I could) and although the stress is still there about rent and bills, the freedom is great! I keep trying to help my friends and boyfriend(s) find their own way but so many people even after seeing what’s possible still say “well, that’s not normal, not everybody can do that, if I want money I need to get a full-time job.” People can be very brainwashed! @@kendalbrenneman I’m glad you didn’t lose sight of your goal! It’s so easy to do when you’re swept up into adulthood.
      I recently had an ice breaker at work via Zoom. We all said what we saw ourselves doing 10 years from now. Everyone, and I mean everyone, said that they’d be retired, close to retirement, or still working at the job with the hope of retiring in the distant future. I was baffled at their lack of vision, drive, and goals. I felt so sad for them and angry at the same time.
      On the other hand, I said that I’d be freelancing so I could travel and still earn money from anywhere. I also said that I’d be living my life to enjoy my passions. Now that I’m woke, I can’t imagine life any other way. I wish you much success as you live out life on your terms!!!

I still want to act, though I feel a bit stuck there at the moment. But there are other things I can work on until then! But the idea of putting off the things you want to do for the distant future, counting down the time... I just want to enjoy what I do, and do it for as long as I want, and have the freedom to enjoy life NOW, and not hope that I don't die before "later" arrives. Besides, not having a 'normal' job, I don't have a retirement fund or pension or anything, so to actually "retire" in that way isn't even an option. :-P

    Lynette, this is the type of content we need more of in this world. We have normalized a standard of living that never truly allows us to live. And when we shirk that standard, we get punished, ie no money to have any comfort and being burdens to others. We won't even get into how we are treated at work for subpar pay. The best way I've seen out is to work in service for yourself until you can make a living, which takes out some authentic creativity, but there isn't really an alternative. Make your hobbies your livelihood.

I was able to make ends meet, but I knew there was something I was missing. I wasn’t able to do what I enjoyed, be around others who I felt connected to, etc. I sold my house and ended up moving into van. My intention was to release. Codependency cycles, but it took a major turn. I realized the more reverence I have towards all of life, healing, sacrificing material objects to experience the flow of life. When I surrendered to that reality I’ve met strangers who always blessed me money when I needed it. Now I follow what I love and keep giving to all of life and it gives back. Everything we love is on the other side of fear. Whatever you have felt called to in your heart, go. I promise it will be worth it 💛

Ugh it gets so deep sometimes.

    I took some time reading some very, very old emails & instant messages from 2009, reading old Facebook posts from when I was a kid, and my dreams have gone unchanged: write novels, write poetry books, become a singer, be an artist. I know it's possible, and it's crazy how now, at 21, I've stopped believing in myself when I used to spend literally all day as a kid writing fiction books, singing in the shower, and making up silly dances. Like JolieFilleNoire said, the dream never dies. The world just tells you it did.

    Yes, this is so important. The world got this way because it is what was collectively agreed upon by the people, but times are changing, people are becoming free thinkers, we have access to endless information. Society beat us down with their limiting beliefs but it's up to us to take back our power! Like you said, there's an abundance of resources, wealth, and opportunities for us all and it's so unfortunate that the world has been overcome by greed to this point. Life could have been ANYTHING, and it became this. We have to recognize that this is the world we live in, and we have to play the game in order to win.

    I’ve never wanted to grow up because I’ve seen how messed up the system is, and now I’m older and living this nightmare, and have been asking myself the same question- how can I change this? And yes, I think playing the game for now is the only way I could think of, play the game but work on making money from other things I enjoy in the side, and just pray they lead to my main income source, and then just be ready for when someone with power is ready to speak up for the masses and create a new system, and then give them my support, whether that is protesting or whatever. I really wonder too how many of us spend our 9-5 day jobs not being productive. I really don’t think we need 8 hour work days when we have so many technologies in today’s world. I’ve told myself that if I ever become an entrepreneur and have to hire employees, they will get treated fairly, work less hours, get paid more, and get more vacation days. I hope this system changes soon, so many people I know are miserable and have loads of college debt, and we have to pay it off at our dumb jobs that don’t make us feel purposeful and powerful. Something I think about a lot is how workers and students cannot film. Even in retail, there are so many rules that discourage social media-even off the clock. I also think that if universities were treated like public schools, then college students wouldn’t be able to film on campus, and then we would be missing a huge portion of RUclipsrs.
    The realization that RUclipsrs can make money was such a huge turning point for me. Sometimes I think about the dark side of things, like the censorship on RUclips being a reminder that having a channel with substantial subscribers is still just working for a corporation and needing to follow all of its rules.
    I’m so grateful to have a place to share these thoughts.

  • @erstwhile3793
    @erstwhile3793 2 года назад

    I’m so glad that some younger people are finding ways to talk about and plan their escape from this oppressive system. I’ve felt the wrongness of it since I was a small child. I think many young children recognize that something is profoundly wrong with this system, even before they can cognitively understand the existence of a system at all. Questions like, “why do we have to have money”, “why don’t we just give the poor people what they need”, “why do we need school”, “why do you have to go to work all the time [mommy/daddy]”, are ubiquitous to childhood. I vividly recall the answers to those questions when my brothers and I asked them, they all basically boiled down to: you just don’t understand, and, it’s not that simple. But it is.
    As an older person, who is still trying to figure out how to live outside the matrix of bondage [to enrichment of a few], I’ve been extremely concerned and distressed by the rising sense of futility and anxiety among young people in my world. I grew up during the 70s, so I’ve seen young people express discontentment with the civilization they found themselves in! This is different, now. I want so much to help the younger ones feel a sense of possibility and fire, but I’m struggling with that, myself. I think we are genuinely in a collapsing civilization, and we all feel that in various ways. The old stories about what is important, and what humanity is and can be, are collapsing around us. We haven’t created the new ones yet, but you can definitely see them starting to sprout in people. They’re profoundly influenced still by the old ones. They won’t always be, I don’t think. Change is inevitable. It’s hard to live through, and hard to understand while it’s in process. Channels like this one are helping to plant the seeds of change, I think. Who knows what will grow out of your work?

    I loved this video. I think one of the main problems is also more practical: taxes. Once you're financially considered rich, in order to stay that way you have to meet a standard, the richer you are the fewer taxes you pay. Rich people mostly do donations to avoid taxes and I think this is also one of the reasons why they don't like to invest in something that it's no profitable for them (let's say not big associations etc.). It's a system that sucks and I hate that the world has normalized this so I really believe that knowledge and this awareness newer generations have can make society do small but steady steps towards a better world. It's a long process but I think that keeping a positive mindset and believing that there is a way out is still better than giving up and gives you enough strength to keep going. It also really helps seeing people making it and being open to talking about their experience without keeping some kind of secret to themselves but encouraging others to do the same. It's important that people who have a platform talk about this so I really appreciate you for doing that.

    • @LynetteAdkins

      It's so crazy to me the things rich people do to avoid taxes, like it's pure greed. But then I also feel like we need a government we can actually trust to do things with tax payer money that is actually serving communities instead of funding the police, etc. You're right the system just sucks overall

Maybe be a bit selfish in my next years and work hard for my own dream, so I multiply my money and people that listen to me so after that I can share all my resources and money and ideas with others! I also think to crash the system doesn’t matter if the financial or political or educational system, you have to be as high as the people that make the rules in the system but then not be like them and sit quietly on your own ass and eat you own money and let other people work for you, but to help other people up there. Help that other voices get heard. That other people get the same access as I do. Empower them to being able to change something. And i love that. And I am so glad I have found this video. - create expenses list
    - dont spend your money on dumb stuff (netflix, starbucks, etc)
    - (optional but helpful) create different bank accounts for different stuff (e.g. expenses, investments, etc.)
    - find your purpose and create value for others
    - treat your time as money (its more valuable)
    - spend 30mins to 1h daily on personal development (read books, watch videos etc)
    - get rid off all negative habits and patterns and replace them with positive ones
    and finally

    I just came across your channel and I want to start off by saying that I love that you are using your platform to have this conversation and I think that you speak with so much clarity that it is easy to fully understand exactly your point of view and where you are coming from ! I think that its super important for everyone to recognize their position of privilege because it allows you to take a step back and really consider the state of our reality and how our current economic system and way of working is not in most individual’s best interest. Whenever I talk about this topic I often get someone who calls me privileged or selfish for having the opinion that I do, but I think that being in a place of privilege is exactly why it is our responsibility to speak out !! A quote I really like by Harari says that “most of us can’t afford the luxury of investigating” and its for this exact reason why those of us who can should use our position to investigate and question the status quo. Also one last thing, the Ted Talk by Rick Warren called a life of purpose really goes deeply into the idea of doing what you can with what you have and so I definitely recommend that if you have listened to it already!

    I feel this. I just turned 24 a few weeks ago. I work 4-5 jobs and study full time in my 4th year of university. Across 7 days I’m reaching 70-80 hour weeks. My jobs are at a minimum of 7 locations/ campuses with commutes of 10-45 minute variations. Multiple locations in a day (sometimes 4+) I’m up at 5am, at unpaid uni work placements 8.30-4/5. Next jobs are 2,3 or up to 4 hours after that in the evening. That doesn’t include heavy preparations for the different workplaces (academic based job), revisions, emails, course edits and writing or assignments for my 4 university units (I normally do that 9-11.30pm at night). I look In the mirror and wonder why I look so old at 24. When did I become a ghost? Saturday’s are 9 hour days of ‘paid’ on site work and probably 4 hours of assignments, emails and other expectations. Sundays are 4hours paid on site and the rest of time working to not drown in unread emails, revisions, assignments, paying bills, cleaning and it is still not enough for anyone I work for. At least I try to get 7-8 hours of rest and eat healthy mostly. You’ll look in the mirror and ask, Shen did I become a shell of my former youthful self?

    My whole life my family instilled in me that I had to know what I want to do in life. They say, what’s your dream job and what do you want to major in and I would say I don’t know. All I know is that I love helping people and I like to vacation. Still, years later I feel the same way. I’m just now realizing that it’s ok to not want to have a dream job because my dream job is to not to work at all and that’s ok. 😂
    Eventually I maybe will find out what I want to do. I have a inkling that it may be writing. If I do ever write I want to write to help people while vacationing on my villa. That in itself is ok. I don’t want to stress about life all day. Jobs, cars, all that will still be there. Family doesn’t last forever. Being next to my son and vacationing with him and knowing that I helped some people that week is my happy place.

    YES! We can also fight for policy changes! Shorter work weeks, UBI, Universal Healthcare, paid vacation and maternity/paternity leave requirements, and more union membership are all policies that can really help level the playing field and assist those stuck in dead end jobs so they can pursue their dreams! Hard work just isn't enough these days and trick down economics and corporate lobbying really has taken the power away from the masses. It's time the middle and lower class take that power back.

    what you say makes a lot of sense but it just breaks my heart that the system is so against us that there is literally no way out that isn't just ripping everything down. i wish we didn't have to compromise so much on our dreams that there was an actual possibility of living in our ideal life but it never will truly happen. it's so hard to stay motivated to keep on the hustle and keep working "till the dream" when you know the best case scenario still isn't your dream

      It's so frustrating that we have to slave away to get where we want to be. But you have everything within you to get there. The moment I took my anger and let that fuel what I do is when everything started to change for me. Make your dream the only scenario you accept!

    So glad I stumbled upon your video! I’ve recently had the same conversation with my dad. I want to break free from what is expected of me and have time to get to know myself and feed my soul. In return, I want to help people obtain wealth for themselves. I think everyone should be given an opportunity to grow their potential. The way the system is set up, doesn’t allow much freedom. I intend to break that limiting belief!!! Good luck to everyone on the same boat!

    Unconsciously I’ve been behaving like what you described and didn’t even realize it. I treat my life like a game to keep my sanity and try to use my free time to get to know myself and my interests. It works for the most part but I see myself finding another solution one day

    What you said about real estate really hit home! When I was first out of college, I was able to get ahead and save because of kind landlords who charged below market

    YES!!!!! SAW THIS AT 444 COMMENTS. IM ON THE SAME BOAT. im trying to quit my 8-5 job to focus 100% on my business. i really want to become so successful to become a business coach for women to assist them with pursing their dreams. It is SO true its time to STOP being selfish and help spread abundance because everyone CAN WIN. Abundance is infinite. Putting someone on does NOT take away from your own blessings.

    Yesss I feel you so much! I never get how my parents look at me crazy when I say I don’t want to go back to a 9-5 job that I hate. Or they find it strange that our generations can make money in these non traditional ways and that I would want to do that. My dads always like but what about your retirement lol but I feel you. I’m down, Thanks for making the vid!

      There's been such a huge shift in recent generations on the way we view these things, it's crazy! We all deserve happiness now, no need to wait until retirement!

      Let’s not forget the fact that you’d still be worried about retirement even in a 9-5 because companies never give pensions anymore. Everything is a 401k this and 401k that

      @@LynetteAdkins I found that most people who say they are retired,, really were never retired at all,,they were just living off of the inheritance of another relative passed down....I always wondered how they could retire so early in their 30's...and now I figured out why

    OMG!! I had felt this way forever!! I switched from Accounting to Real Estate. You have to change your perspective on life. Financial Freedom is in! I love it!

    OMG I JUSSTT SAID THIS!! It's ALL a game, and once I actually realized that, life became so much easier. There are so many versions of this life. Versions that some people can't even fathom, yet it's normal to someone else. Understanding that and believing that you have the power to create the life you desire will shift your world. Take things for what they are - a means to something better, a segway. These jobs aren't forever. This life isn't forever, so make it worthwhile. At 23, I now have a mission for my life and for everything I do. It may not seem fun or be pretty at the moment, but it'll get me to where I need to go, which will then lead me to the next version of life I'd like to experience.
    It's all a game love. Play it or get played, but choose wisely, cause you only get one turn. 💖🏁

    For two days I’ve come across you channel and the videos of seen confirms that I need to quit my job once school starts in August because my job isn’t making me happy and if I want to get into the field I’m passionate about I need to focus on school and not stress about whether I’m getting good quality scores and have the fear of getting fired running in my mind whenever I’m working.

    We should be able to enjoy life and be financially comfortable. It seems like it’s either or. My dream life definitely isn’t to work myself to the bone just to be financially stable and I don’t want it to be. It’s about balance and like you said we should use our privileges to help others and educate eachother

    The message in this video is everything, but what’s really getting me is how we’re all about the same age (I’m 24) and feeling the same way and all in some version of a similar situation. Lynette is so right, there are enough of us that we can make this change!!
    I wanna be multilingual just to be and I really want to help people develop their spiritual understanding and grow though traumas through different holistic methods, mainly yoga & meditation. It still feels weird admitting that bc I feel like that seems so wuwu and unrealistic. But I know in my heart I can figure it out and there will be a community to accept me and the same is true for you.
