My thought is that the shapeshifter was sent by Neuman, mainly because Hughie still has all that information on Vicky from when she was at Red River, and she could have sent the shapeshifter to delete all that information on her that was on Hughie's laptop
So this comment could age horribly, as the finale is out in literally less than 90 minutes, but the heavy implication is definitely that this "Assassination attempt" isn't real and Sage + this shapeshifter have a completely different endgame. Annie's laptop contained the evidence on Neuman, both the Red River files and the audio of Neuman, so it's highly likely that Sage is actually siding with her. Regarding the safe, the implication is that this shapeshifter has the ability to harvest memories because she also perfectly recalls details about Annie and Hughie's conversation about the costume, a conversation the shifter definitely wasn't privy to. So yeah, this shapeshifter is a *BIG* problem lol.
Off topic... Walking Dead The Ones Who Live was snubbed at the Emmys. I'm so annoyed. I've seen some of the work that was nominated and I don't get it. Its a popularity contest I guess. Also the toxic Fandom of the Walking Dead didn't make it any better. Anyway, I'm still rooting for Danai and Andrew. They really do deserve more recognition
