    Hi, 10/10 for creativity and presentation. Maybe it would take a TA to explain what is a "spy" and "cracking the code"?

    • @MooncakeEnglish
      @MooncakeEnglish  4 года назад +1

      Hi Nathan, thanks for watching, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
      It really depends on your class and their level. For the spy element you can use a flashcard to help students understand the meaning of the word. I wouldn't focus on teaching the meaning of "cracking the code" right away, but rather use the term while playing the game so students hear it consistently in context. I always try to avoid having my TA translate things unless the class really need it, but I do play games with my TA first as an example so students can see how a game works and what is expected from them as they play.
      I hope that helps!

    Jemma thanks for your video's, they are most helpful. Would you perhaps consider doing a video where you elaborate on doing decoding of stences? Maybe give some examples for Grade 2 students. Thank you 😊

      Hi Chrisnali, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I actually have a whole series on phonics that explains how to get students to the point where they are reading sentences. You can find. it here: ruclips.net/p/PLWnDxOCiXGiqTS7k7t1EgAwaoPIGZf8kO
      I hope that helps 😊

      @@MooncakeEnglish I have watched your entire series and it was very helpful however I am talking more about the decoding of sentences, so if you could elaborate more at how to use pictures to create sentences. Not sure if you understand what I mean.

    Hi, thank you for all the great tips you're sharing. I have a question ( a silly one I guess ) but I really need you to answer it ASAP. I am trying to make a demo lesson and I found the PERFECT spot ( considering that I'm filming at home ) but the problem is ( or isn't!! ) only my head, shoulders and half of my upper body appear in the camera. Now, I am not sure if this is a problem or not. Is it a must to show all my body or what I mentioned will do. BTW, my hand gestures can be seen, the lighting is good, background is clean ( reddish pink ), and the place is quiet. maybe I'm just overthinking this-- anyway, I could really use your tips. THANK YOU.

      Hi Ayoub! It looks like you have covered lots of the important elements of your set up. Generally when teaching online teachers will only have themselves shown from the waist up. This is because in order to fit their entire body in the shot, it would mean being far away from the camera and therefore difficult for students to see you clearly.Even if recording a demo for a classroom based class, I would use that same set up. This gives the employer a clearer view of you and your teaching methods. Best of luck with the demo, let me know how it goes!

    Hello! I was wondering if there's any book like the one you suggested as Phonics Curriculum in another video but one that I can buy in pdf or as an online book as there's no way I could ship the book to my country 😟

    Thank you so much! I love your videos. Do you teach babies/toddlers? I’m teaching 2 year olds online now it’s it’s just not working. They’re just screaming and crying the whole time.

    • @MooncakeEnglish
      @MooncakeEnglish  4 года назад

      Hi Shayla, thanks so much for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! For two year olds, online teaching really is tough! It's very hard for them to concentrate and it's very difficult for teachers to capture their attention. This phonics activity wouldn't really be suitable for this age group but I do have a few other games that might work. Try some of my online teaching tip videos and check out the Mooncake English website, as I have lots of information. and freebies there that might help!
