Nice video, there is some few mistakes because not every player played at l’insep before going to the nba or great teams in Europe .Many of them did played at l’insep. But the the key is the detection of the prospects early on at age thirteen where the best youngsters of their age get together to represent their region to compete against each other few times during the year. That’s why they all know each other. Then, a selection is made at 14 where they made a team of prospects to develop them for two years. Then, the best of the best of go to l’insep or few very good club team that develops players. The players of l’insep plays against grown men in the third division. Out of l’insep, they can go only in first division on division two for few years. For example, risacher did play at l’insep. He went straight up in the pro league. His first year , he did not play a lot (Tony Parker’s team). The second year, he changed team and play and the rest is history.
It's not only true for France, NBA managed to become a worldwide success following the 92 Dream Team pioneers, and there's now a worldwide interest in it. There's more and more players from Europe, Africa, Australia in the NBA, just like there are more players from abroad in the English Premier League because of it's popularity.
Well done !A large supply of bigs also helped our national team (Gobert ,Wemby ,Mouss Fall ,Noah,Ajinca),the building of a very good D too .There are really awesome players and coaches in NCAA but many examples past and present show that it is possible to develop as a good player as a young age without going through a 4 year cursus overseas (Doncic ,Gasol,Parker ,Jokic ,Nowitzi .....).It happens because in Europe young ballers are soon confronted to ruthless and experienced players .They may have a hectic start but when the lesson is learnt they are ready and more rapidly open to some hustle .In NCAA it's a bit different young vs young .Also a reality that goes beyond my country .When the one and only Dream Team won The Olympics in 1992 every opponent to them was fascinated ,took photos .All the audiences were in awe like many teenagers at the time I became a basketball fan(still playing now for fun). But soon the popularity decreased due to some bad attitudes from following TEAM USA versions (in 1994 they were dominant but the audiences found their antics a bit strong plus there were further disappointments in 2002 ,2004 and 2006 which brought as everybody knows The Redeem Team)so the fascination ceased and complexes disappear all over the world .Talents are everywhere ,high quality basketball is globalised now that's great.

INSEP is a double edge sword. It acts as a corporatist institution. They forced the gymnasts to train in their facilities if they wanted to join the olympic team. One of them refused and joined the Algerian team. She got gold on uneven bars and France got a chocolate medal.
I think it's a little more complicated than that for Kaylia Nemour case (the federation thought her trainer make her work too hard after an injury and it could risk her carrier or something like that) but yeah, french sport federations do weird things sometimes, like Marion Bartoli not called for the fed cup in tennis because she wanted her dad/trainer to be there and the federation didn't want him because they have their own trainers (who couldn't get the players they trained in the top 50 when Bartoli was top 10 without them...)

I'm French and i like our French basketball team, but still stop with those "France destroys basket" and sh*t like this, we didn't accomplish a thing yet.
Ne nous rabaisses pas, purée ! Come on ! We made two Olympic finals in a row, winning silver in both while challenging the USA. Obtaining silver for 5 points in 2020 and getting 3 points behind with 3 minutes remaining in 2024 requires a ridiculously high level, which France undeniably has. So yes, France has some achievements/accomplishments. It's just a matter of going and improving to keep pushing the USA and get over the line.

France is not particulary a sport country but we destroyed every country in the collectiv sports, (rugby, soccer, handball, basketball, volleyball)

VIVE LA FRANCE !

You forget the silver medal in 2000 and Noah was formed in the US
Noah starter in France and then high-tech School and the gators.😉
To be fair. Pretty sure that Joakim Noah lived most of his life in the US. Pretty sure he was born there as well
Yes Joachim is the most american amongst french player. Other ones (TP, Diaw, Batum, Wemby, Risacher, Sarr...) didn't even play in american college.
Lived in France from 3 to 13 years old though
Even if his dad is a french legend, he became officially french in 2007. He only had american and swedish citizenship before joining the nba.
@@MrKpital i highly doubt it
@@MrKpital It's not really possible. He's the son of a french citizen, so he has the citizenship by birth. At most, he had french paperwork since 2007, but he didn't become french.
In France we play basketball since the year 1891 !? damn I did not know that ! thx :)
Basketball is extremely popular here, especially in big cities
They got some Dawgs coming into the league
France could have 1or 2 players in the NBA in the the 80's and 90's, but before Petrovic/Kukoc/Divac/Rađa came up, nobody trusted Europeans in the US
Watch how we do with handball and volley-ball, and football (the one you would call soccer).
Good vid but sometimes you took shortcuts, Tariq Abdul-Wahad never went to INSEP, he went to NCAA, for example. Same for Noah, with a lot of success.
insep is for all Olympic sports. this is how we also dominate judo or fencing
yo, French person speaking.... Tarik never went to insep. He took his chance to play for Michigan State University. We were really impress by it and Tarik became a legend for young French street-ballers even before the NBA.
That's right
Well, pretty easy to be the world champion when you are the only one competing in your championship right ?, Basket is not the most popular sport in Europe or even in France, but the overall level is pretty high, also not sure if there are some differences in rules between Europe basket ball and NBA making NBA looks like a walk in the park for Euro players.
France will the 2028 Olympic
Gold medal
Basketball popular is rapidly increasing
And now they want to beat USA
Look at their young players
And African migrants nowadays play lot of basketball tournaments in France
Just wait and watch
France will be the best basketball team in future
Most popular team sport in the country ? Hmm I doubt it, not yet at least and it's gonna take a while. I might be wrong but basket really seems far from soccer and rugby in terms of popularity tbh
Just give france more time and you will see what will happened in a few year... french are really good at team sports like soccer, rugby, handball... world champion in this 3 type of sport 😊
Wemby will be back to destroy Team USA in Los Angeles.
... spain, serbia ... lot of high level players too. Anothers icebergs
Football is most popular, then rugby
C'est bien malheureux
Imagine if, one day, sport made its way into schools...

Next BIG THING from europe ; NOLAN TRAORE keep eyes on him
The NBA is so boring they need to put on entertainment dunks before the game at halftime
what a joke of a organisation or maybe it’s just their fans who are 12

I don't like the narrative you're building your story on. The french were never in position to contest Team Usa at the olympics. They trailed all game by at least -10.
Your mistake…they trailed at one time by…3 points !
Team USA got his last gold medal in 2024 😂
You have only ONE Curry…then old players, has been players :)
serbia was way more threatening and i didn t expect USA to come back there. as a french i didnt expect much from my team but they still managed to stick.....but serbia was in anothe league.
LOL 😂 INSEP for NBA 🤣 Please America, stop looking at yourself only 😂 the main purpose of INSEP is neither for NBA nor Basketball only, it's for developing talents in every sports 😂
Just pay your taxes and see them well spent.

In fact, Tony Parker has an American father and a Dutch mother, and was born in Belgium.
He's just a paper Frenchman, but hardly anyone knows that.
So in reality, he's not really French
There are so many internationals, it's hard to say who's who in the sport these days.
They've all become, for the most part, unattached in the sport.

French basketball is more team driven and versatile than the divas the US basketball create.
edit : BASKETBALL IS NOT THE MOST POPULAR TEAM SPORT IN THE COUNTRY ( check your sources before ).
Also, France is the european country with the most black people.
And a lot of those NBA prospects are sons of african bball players who came to the french league or african pro jumpers (like Wemby or Diaw)
Most of them weren’t too skilled because there were no academies in Africa, so if they were able to become pro it’s because of their body.
They passed on their body through genetics to their french sons who could get proper coaching thus creating serious NBA prospects (Batum, Sarr, Traoré, etc.)

France lost big time vs Germany in the first round and almost lost vs Japan. No need to make them bigger than they are, at least right now
they still went to Olympic Games final twice in a row 😉
Germany was world champion and losing against them in the first round wasn't a bad idea so they were surprised later. Canada was a very good team too, maybe the best contender after Serbia.
And USA won by 1 point only against South Sudan but you still claim that there are the best team out there.
Colonization still paying off for France 😂
And not for the US or other countries? Look at Spain right now with dabone 😂
How many olympics gold medals USA would have without their slaves descendants ? Oops sorry : that's not politically correct to talk this way about Liberty Nation.
Like slavery in the us
shit the past out of your colon dude
The difference is that they are coming in France because they want to, and for many of them, it can be their parents who came to built a life, or even their grand parents. Since WWI, there has been some immigration, from Europe first, spain, Italy, Poland and other countries who were poorer at the time. And they weren't French colonies, right? This people could try to go to the USA, too, but they didn't, they did another choice, by and for themselves.
