Some wonder if he was actually knighted officially. Whether or not being knighted in a Force vision is legitimate. Me? I think being knighted by the Force *itself* makes it as legitimate as it can get.
he is! the force said so... I didn't like how he died cuz I think he would have gotten stronger maybe jedi master but not super strong. I like how his character is and perspective.
He not only learned how to see, with the force, whilst being blind. Going in depth with his way of learning about the force, with the Bendu. Already forgiving Maul and yet, still being weary about him. And in the end, he sacrificed himself, to save, Everyone.
Kanan is top tier for me. Most people talk about Ezra when they are describing him as a father, but to me (while of course I loved his role with Ezra) the best episode showcasing his character is surprisingly trials of the darksaber. He has one quote in that episode that brings me to tears every time I hear it because of how much it shows everything I love about him: “You’ve come a long way in a very short time. Where you go from here is up to you, but know, that this family will stand with you no matter what you choose” He doesn’t care about Sabine’s past mistakes after she opens up, he isn’t angry she hid this from him, he isn’t disappointed in her. He is there for her in ways her own blood family wasn’t. He would’ve stood with her even had she refused to take the darksaber. He is the embodiment of compassion and patience despite all the trials he has gone through.
I give Kanan an A. His journey of being a jedi, guiding Ezra and the Ghost crew through the perils of the Empire, and his eventual sacrifice to save all of them including Hera and his future son yet to be born was incredible. Rebels shined a lot with his character
It's a real shame he was rated so low. Consider how incredible it is that Kanan as a character is simultaneously both among the "truest" Jedi we've seen and also one of the most universally relatable SW characters. Rebels really is a criminally underrated show, and this is just another example of why.
The Kanan story that really resonated with me came quite early in the series. There's an episode where they hear a rumour that Luminara Unduli had survived Order 66, and he immediately latches onto the idea that she would be a much better teacher for Ezra. Ezra interprets this as Kanan wanting to be free of the burden of having to train him. As a dad, that really struck a chord with me - that our kids don't necessarily need 'the best'; they need _you._ And that my own confidence issues can be even more harmful to the kids than they are to me, if I let them get out of control. And that nobody can hurt a person the way a parent can hurt their child, if they're not careful. Yeah, sure...Rebels was "for kids"...
Feel like if therr wad anything animated/live actiom it wouldnt do him justice cause wgat makes him so good was his development. I dont wanna see kanan fro. Episode 1 or previous cause itd be annoying aha
@@harrymonster06 Nice 👍 Also the filler is just so visually stunning and I rewatched recently and a lot of the filler actually ties in to the most exciting episodes.
No mention of his amazing self-reflection with Bendu? All of his interactions with Bendu stood out to me as some of the best moments of the show. Especially once Kanan goes full Daredevil and truly allows the force to guide him.
I love that you mentioned how the Jedi can't really be aloof from the rest of the galaxy and protect it. That's the main reason I love Kanan so much! He cares for his family, he loves them and because he loves them he can muster the Force enough to save them. I definitely think that if Kanan hadn't loved Hera and the crew, he wouldn't have been able to save them from the explosion that took his life.
Kanan is an easy A for me and honestly he’s one of my favorite characters in all of Star Wars. I’m surprised he’s that low he’s such a huge example of what makes a “true Jedi”
Yes I know, the comic series is god level tier, but people like me who were late to the party never got the chance to read them. Still, it should be animated as a solo movie of Kanan, it would be an amazing movie if it ever came to be a movie.
Lore Master made an voice over. All the Characters have their own voice it’s done really well. I prefer it over simply reading the comic. And Kleeve is great we finally see the CIS perspective
@@puggoman902 Only just read them the other week myself, and I agree, those do flesh out his story even more and would bring him right up there close to an A.
There is something which in a sense shocked me about Kanan. It's his sacrifice. Before to go to rescue Hera and enventually die, i remember he cut his hair. On the moment, i didn't pay attention to this but after his death, i thought that, before rescuing Hera, he already knew he was going to die. Of course, he liberated Hera but in his mind, he knew that his fate was sealed. I have also the impression that, by his sacrifice, he wanted to show something to everyone and particularly teach a lesson to Ezra. The raid on Lothal on the factory which produced Tie/D Defender lead by Hera was a complete failure and Kanan quickly understood that only a sacrifice could give a victory for the rebellion. So, he attracted the fire from the imperial on him and by killing him, the imperial completely destroyed the factory. This sacrifice, anybody who have enough bravery and sense of duty could do it, but this is precisely what a jedi can do if he must do it. Only sacrifice could give victory to the rebellion. Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and all the rogue 1 squadron knew they could die at Scarif but, even if they had a bad feeling about this, they hoped to survive until the moment there was no hope. Of course, they were ready to do it if necessary. But in the case of Kanan, he knew he had no hope at all to survive. By doing what he has done, he showed a great lesson that Ezra learned absolutely very well. At the end of Rebels, he has done the same thing that his master : sacrifice voluntarily himself to offer victory to the rebellion. That's really very impressive. The more i think about the idea of voluntary sacrifice (not like a coward who blows up himself in the middle of a crowd), the more i think it's like a combined act of faith, of great courage and love. For me, that's what Kanan did and this is why he is a great jedi.
Another part of Kanan I loved. His distrust of Rex and the clones slowly is chipped away the more he fights along side them. He rebuilds the bonds that were broken from Order 66. What other Jedi can say the same?
Ever since Kanan Jarrus became blind, he became wiser than before. Kanan Jarrus: History lesson, the Jedi won the war with Mandalore! These tricks will amount to something, maybe save you from time to time, but they won't keep you alive in the long run. Only training and discipline will do that.
Kanan is one of the best character of all Star Wars. Excellent Jedi, even if is not the most powerful, he is one of the most balanced. Great spirit, he had is doubt about himself but never in the Force and he overcome them eventually. In the end, he became a better Jedi than most of the so-called masters who came before him.
Now that you think about it. Kanan's son with Hera could very likely become one of Luke's students in the new Filoni verse timeline since he will likely be force sensitive as well
@@NobleRaider2747 so you think Disney is going to kill Grogu their most popular character ever in order for their shit sequels to still happen? Yeah no. They like money and will milk Grogu for years to come. They will retcon the fuck out of those awful films if it makes them more money

Yes. Kanan, Qui-Gon, and Ahsoka are ultimately what Jedi should be. I would also argue had Anakin not been manipulated that he would also been what a Jedi should have been.
Kanan's debut on A New Dawn and his comic series were awesome. If nothing else those should be read, particularly for those who weren't a fan of Rebels.
I love Kanan Jarrus above all other Jedi. I’m not going to try to psychoanalyze why or talk about how his AMAZING character arc was better or worse than another character’s... I feel this way about him because he made me FEEL more than any other character ever has. His story is inspiring, tragic, and carried the show for MANY of the filler episodes. I’m sorry I missed the vote. He is the best character Star Wars has ever given us. While Ahsoka is an A+...Kanan somehow ranks just above her, and Obi-Wan just below. Thank you for the video, Thor. Putting respect on Kanan’s name was VERY good for this fan to see. 😊👍🏼
For me his sacrifice was a real shame. Even a bigger shame that Ezra couldn't save him in the World Between Worlds... Because he deserved to be rescued. And we would have another Jedi to have a series about right now.
He could not save him because if he had the rest of the crew would have died including ezra himself. he could save ahsoka however because they had already left the planet and were not around when she died.
It is absolutely downright criminal how low he scores. He deals with fear his entire time, gets blinded, and we see when he shines as a true Jedi in his final moments, the Force gifts him his sight back so that he can see his wife and his veritable adopted son for one last time before his death, which even fulfills his promise to Hera in seeing her again. A true Jedi, indeed.
I think he best represents a post-order jedi. How to balance the ideals and life of a jedi with the reality of galaxy and how things were. He still felt the need to help a cause bigger than himself but didnt hold himself as a rigid person who couldnt learn or live with ppl (as opposed to being “above” or detached from them).
I was reluctant to watch this show, but it quickly grew on me once I started and it’s honestly because Kanaan and how he runs the crew like a family with Hera. I do think he deserves at least over a 4.0 because he really is an A tier character and an A++ Jedi. Not enough people give him the credit he deserves.
@@ImTheReverse I'm for this what if as Jedi surviving order 66 would make it so that Order 66 wasn't really that effective. Where as Padme living would add a political aspect to the GCW that wasn't really there priorto Mon Mothma who isn't Mon Mothma whilealso potentially giving Vader a means to be rooted permanently (as long as Padme is still around) in the side of good.
@@SrMissileMonkey Yeah, not only would she be an incredible addition to the Rebel Alliance, many systems would seek refuge in an allegiance with her. And of course, she would’ve possibly raised Luke and Leia together although it is possible and likely that they were either separated from her or she went into exile with them for their collective safety. As for Vader, I think that it could go both ways. We see in ROTS that Padmé still struggles to redeem Anakin, but it is possible that she could’ve gotten through to him. Or she could’ve lost hope and abandoned him.
@@ImTheReverse an intriguing inner battle to try and redeem the one she's loved for an entire war or let him go for the person, robot he is now. Plus would've been the impetus for Luke to take up the mantle later on, where he got the faith in his own father from.
This is my answer just on the title (not having watched the vid), YES!!! In the absence of the Jedi Order, with an apprentice of his own, and having been in the presence of the Bindu, Kanaan path leads him to listening to the force, (kinda like Rey). One example as to the evidence of this path is his statement to Herra regarding Lothal that they always end up back there. No matter where they travel they kept ending up there. And we know the reason why. So yes, as Ahsoka told Ezra in WBW, he found what he needed to do and he did it. (Very rough translation.) Now I will watch the vid. :)
Not only did Kanan sacrifice himself at the last moment, he went on the mission trusting in the force (and Ezra's ability to determine the will of the force) beforehand, knowing that is how it would end. It is one thing to jump in front of a bus to save a child, it is another to allow all of the events to play out and then jump in front of the bus because the entire chain of events was the right thing for Lothal and the galaxy. The is no better death in SW. Chirrut comes close, but not quite there.
Have you seen "Stranger Than Fiction"? It's literally a movie about a man who has to choose to jump in front of a bus to save a child, knowing it's going to kill him. But yeah, loved Kanan's development and trust in the force, and agreed about it being a great death.
Kanan figured out what it means to be a Jedi on his own. Sure, he had 14 years of training, but compassion and sacrifice aren't taught, at least not directly. I love how he progresses from a curious learner, to padawan soldier, to rogue, to lady's man/drifter, and then devoted partner, family man, Jedi Knight, and finally to trusting the bigger picture of rebellion, hope, and the Force. He went from not wanting to be called "kid" to growing up real fast with Order 66. He's seen the down-and-dirty, lived a rough life, and learned to use his abilities for good. In my first watch-through of Rebels, I thought he relented on his distrust of clones too quickly. I've seen PTSD (I work with lots of disabled vets) and it's not that easy to forget or forgive. Since I knew he was an Order 66 survivor, his master sacrificed herself to save him, and can imagine the horrors of being a 14-year-old hunted down by the troops who were your buddies, I felt like his friendship with Rex came too swiftly. I finally realized that I didn't agree with his decision to trust the clones again "so easily" was because of my own bias, and that Kanan working through that as well as he did showed he'd handled the situation better than I would have. Like he said in one of the comics, the Jedi Order taught him all sorts of things like fighting, politics, mediation, etc, but not "how to live". It took him some time, but by the end of the show I think he was the perfect balance between compassionate and Force-trusting Jedi and someone who knew how to live and pass on knowledge with a family. He's my favourite Star Wars character. Add me to the list of those who gave him an A.
I didn't want my reply to be too long, but can we also talk about how he never seemed to have had an issue with the Dark Side? In one of the comics he mentions understanding how easy it would be to sink into his hatred when he sees his friend Stance get killed - but that he knows that's not the right path, and within seconds he's mastered what other Jedi struggled with for years.
....aaaand (did I mention I'm a fan?) I love the theory that he was born on Lothal. The hieroglyphs in the caves with the Loth-wolf episodes seem to show people following wolves, and Ki-Adi-Mundi, Yoda, and other Jedi taking an infant. It's as if his destiny was pre-written, and he returned to Lothal, where he and Lothal-native Ezra relocated the Jedi Temple there, and where he was knighted. His sacrifice saved the environment from the resource draining imperial factories, and led to Ezra's band of allies kicking the Empire off the planet. It makes sense on a world with a door to the World Between Worlds that someone might have seen the future and put it into pictograph form as a prophecy. Just sayin'
Have you thought about color-coding the characters in your lists at the beginning with the sources of canon they appear in (original trilogy, prequels, sequels, TV & Star Wars Stories, other canon only, Legends only, for instance)?
If you think about it Kanan actually could be a force ghost. Or at least meets the requirements. Hear me out: To become a spirit a Jedi has to know their true self accept it and let go. Another big part is sacrifice. Kanan seems to do all these things. Recognizing his original name, coming to terms with his past demons, moving forward, sacrificing himself for his friends. Not to mention the way his sight was restored and his “presence” lingered, like something special was going on with him. And we know he meditated a lot, talked with Yoda at least once, and we didn’t see all his missions. It’s possible that he earned the ability to become a spirit and we just didn’t see it.
Kanan is one of the best characters of the franchise and serves as a great example of what a Jedi should be. He is also one of the best examples of the differences between the Jedi pre and post fall of the Order. The Jedi before the fall were all held down with dogma, bureaucracy, moral and political compromises. After the fall those Jedi that survived really went back to the basics of being Jedi. No more dogmatic council or rigid code, it was just them and the force and finding there own balance. To me this is why so many of the Jedi from after the fall of the Jedi Order are better at being true Jedi then those from before the fall were.
Kanan was not the strongest jedi, but he was certainly one of the wisest and most valuable of the jedi. His story is exemplary and his sacrifice was one of the saddest and most beautiful things I've ever seen in Star Wars. His sacrifice is the mark of a true Jedi. To mee, his is the number one.
The SW Rebels series was how I introduced my kids to the SW universe. They were between 8 and 10 when the series was first released. It was amazing then and now. My 16 year old goes back and watches them from time to time, as do I. This was some of the strongest character development and story telling in the SW universe.
I didn't vote, but I love rebels, I play Star Wars X-wing, and have loved the inclusion of most of the ships from Rebels. When Kanan doed I actually cried, it was such an emotional gut punch moment.
I feel like a lot of the Fs and Ds are coming from people that won't give ANYTHING in canon a chance (first or second). The only way you could rate Kanan below a C is if you hadn't actually seen him. As for the criticism of Rebels being lesser because it was a kids show: The Clone Wars was a kids show, and it's probably a lot of people's favorite Star Wars in the last twenty years (bar mando). Rebel's issue is that it was overspecialized towards kids, which can be hard to right without... well, all the issues Rebels ran into face-first.

I gave him a high B. I believe in a more adult focused show with him and Hera as the primary characters he would have been an easy A but there were too many moments where he wasn't allowed to display his full potential as a character.
If they'd gone a different animation style (upgraded) I think Kanan would score better. I gave him a B, but listening to others comments, I would agree, I do like Kanan more than a B, and I think I based it on the fact that I didnt pay attention as closesly to Rebels b/c of the style as I did to say the late style of CW. His death was one of the few that I gulped on and felt sadness on as a viewer. So he obviously meant more than I gave him credit for.
Hello there! Thor I have a suggestion - when you come across a long comment and suggest that we pause and read it I think it would be better if you read it out loud for us. For one it is somehow pleasant hearing it the way you speak but also when I am listening to RUclips videos I am mostly doing something else on the side so I am not in a position to stop doing that and go to pause the video to read. If the reason for you not reading it is to make the video less boring (if that is possible for your subscribers to be) you can put the time stamp on it so those who are here just for the sake of recreation can skip to the point after the long comment. Ha sorry for the longer comment, but it seemed as something worth mentioning. May the Force be with you.
A tier Character. He showed us the insecurities of adulthood and his perseverance regardless is an easily relatable to real life. It makes him a highly relatable figure.
The separatists were actually like the Jedi after the war. They lost the war too and probably learned of all the war crimes seeing how flawed their movement was. Kleeve the sep General from the Kanan comic puts the best description of the CIS: „As a separatist I thought for freedom but put my trust into a corrupt leadership“
Redo Fives as well as Boba Fett please, having him so high up there is scandalous still! For shame this community, for shame! :D Wasn't fond of Kanan at all when I first came across him; he didn't seem at all Jedi-like to me and he wasn't helped by having Prinze, Jr. as a voice actor, who I never liked. However, on his journey, I began to understand him, the things he'd already been through, and the struggles he was dealing with, and being inexperienced in the Jedi ways. This path that he and Ezra ended up being on together, became like a father and son relationship and was very sweet; and as the series went on, he felt far more like a Jedi Knight to me than the likes of Mace feckin' Windu. He matured and by the time of his death (and force echo with the wolf), I really liked him. His death is still one of the most emotional things I've seen in Star Wars, as much as when Anakin comes back to the light at the end of Jedi; and both get me every single time, as it does when Ezra a few episodes later says 'goodbye Kanan'; which for me not only cemented those characters as Star Wars faves, but turned Rebels into my favourite SW animation. Got round to some comic material of Kanan too recently, and have an audiobook there to find out how Kanan and Hera meet which I look forward to getting around to also. Such a turnaround for me, for a character I didn't like at all to begin with.
One of the better jedi he has a true spirit. Kanan is not the most powerful or the most skilled jedi but still he proved himself worthy of the title of jedi knight.
I love Kanan and his story arc totally give him an A, his sacrifice is that of a true Jedi, doing something for the good of friends, family and the galaxy. I haven't read this novel yet, it is on my reading lists.
In my eyes if Obi Wan was still a padawan in his mid 20s, Kanan was still a padawan until season 3 or 4. I still love almost all main Star Wars characters (that business in the Sequels doesn't doesn't count) & I love most of the Rebels show, I even appreciate season 1. Kanan by the time of his ssn 4 sacrifice was a true Jedi & I look forward to more Filoni shows in the future.
Kanan Jarus was a Bad@$$ in terms of Jedi... He survived Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Thrawn, and made the Empire look a fool countless times. As a part of the Ghost Crew, he gave the Rebellion it's first breath. Even after losing his Sight, he relearned the Force to learn to see, and became a better swordsman. And he had one of the BEST Deaths in Star Wars History... Mad Respect to Kanan
I don’t totally agree with “Dom Skywalker’s” assessment on Kanan. He didn’t make a foolish mistake by not protecting his master or the order… he SURVIVED an atrocity that would of killed him. Instead, he lived and helped Ezra become a man and a true Jedi too. Kanan was the epitome of what a tried and true Jedi should be and that love is not a deterrent but a strength! I agree with many that Kanan should get an A, Qui-Gon, Yoda, and Ashoka are all in the same light! I add Yoda to this because,he was under so much pressure and had so much responsibility that he was clouded, But as a true Jedi, Yoda was too . Obi Wan at the end of his physical life was also of this status! They find themselves and the true meaning of force.
I love the whole ghost crew, but my favorite aspect is the kanen and ezra relationship. It's alot of fun to watch. While yes rebels isn't a perfect show it gave great characters and the stories for these characters were awesome.
Now this question is interesting. There are so many on youtube that are just absurd, but this one deserves some thought. Given the millions of Star Wars fans around the world, opinions on what Jedi should, could be, or have been in the Star Wars universe obviously will vary, and many can get lost in the weeds with why this, and why that....blah, blah, blah. George Lucas clearly had in mind that Obiwan was a very special Jedi. Throughout the saga, he seemed to be the most consistently grounded in his approach as a Jedi. Of course, he did have his time where he no longer believed in himself, due to the tragedies around him. With that being said, I wonder what Kanan could have become, if there was no Order 66. He is perhaps the most intriguing character in Rebels (yes, I know he is pretty much the main character, and without him, Rebels wouldnt have been that good), but he could have been way more valuable to the larger Saga, not just Rebels. What I wonder though, is what the writers will do with Ezra. Since he is officially Kanans padawan, it would be a real tragedy (and pointless for the writers to have developed such a good character), to not do something significant with him (and not just kill him off, like so many other great characters, i.e. Rouge 1)
Especially because of the prequels jedi were starting to feel a lot like monks even tho jedi were always meant to be more of a samurai. Thats why i like characters like luke and kanan so much. They make mistakes and also fall in love. They are in my opinion the only jedi that actually feel like a real person and not just a thing which is just medetating and sometimes fighting.
I’ve never been a fan of the “Will of the Force” thing, at last as far as controlling who wins and loses, etc... Luke Skywalker saves the Rebellion, becomes a Jedi, redeems his father, and helps defeat the Sith because of the choices he makes, not because the Force thought that’d make for a cool script.
If Luke (and Vader/Anakin) had died in Ep VI, another powerful Force-Sensitive would have eventually taken their place to slay The Emperor. In a universe such as Star Wars, nothing can last forever and change can come naturally or chaotically depending on the nature of The Force in general.
@@goodmind4940 - yes, but I don’t think the writers of Star Wars understand Christianity. the people I’ve heard explain the Will of the Force explain it as if the characters in these stories are just puppets. that Freddie Prinze Jr. rant comes to mind...

There was also his book,
He is an A regardless. Same character.
For me, that's what Kanan did and this is why he is a great jedi.
well said
Beautifull words! Kanan to mee is the number one. He was the personification of the Jedi path.
Great point, and a great scene. :D
@@mr_e_monkey8836 Sabine Wren obviously needs a lesson from Kanan Jarrus.
Definitely one of the most underrated characters in the Star Wars galaxy
I love how Kanan is both like Rahm Kota and Obi wan
His blinding made me say realize they really had paid attention to all the pre Disney Star Wars stuff.
both survived order 66, green saber, pony tail, blinded by maul/starkiller(sam writer voice actor) yep kanan and kota are the same lol
@@ShadowDeistkazan uses a blue saber though
Kanan is one of the best character of all Star Wars. Excellent Jedi, even if is not the most powerful, he is one of the most balanced. Great spirit, he had is doubt about himself but never in the Force and he overcome them eventually. In the end, he became a better Jedi than most of the so-called masters who came before him.
Now that you think about it. Kanan's son with Hera could very likely become one of Luke's students in the new Filoni verse timeline since he will likely be force sensitive as well
"Filoni-verse timeline"
Sorry, but they're not retconning the sequels.
@@NobleRaider2747 so you think Disney is going to kill Grogu their most popular character ever in order for their shit sequels to still happen? Yeah no. They like money and will milk Grogu for years to come. They will retcon the fuck out of those awful films if it makes them more money
@DARTH DOOFENSHMIRTZ He is more Anakin than Vader to me personally.
@DARTH DOOFENSHMIRTZ When I meant Anakin I was referring to Kylo being conflicted and how you can still see hints of good in him.But yeah he does resemble episode 3 Anakin
This was my first time being featured in one of these videos. It's an absolute honor, thank you Thor.🤩
I get so emotional just thinking about his death.
Thanks for sharing my comment! Kannan Jarus is one of my favorite Star Wars characters.
"Ah! Your sight returns, Kanan Jarus, Jedi Knight "
He chose to remain a jedi in the face of the empire as a padawan. While many other jedi lost their way during this time.
OMG!!!! This is the third time I've gotten featured!!! I wasn't expecting it! Thanks thor for sharing your fan's opinions!!! Love your channel! May the force be with ya all during these hard times!!!
Yes. Kanan, Qui-Gon, and Ahsoka are ultimately what Jedi should be. I would also argue had Anakin not been manipulated that he would also been what a Jedi should have been.
I agree RyanSquaaa-hey, there you are. Yet we meet again. And yes, I agree that they are what a Jedi should be.
Mace windu in some ways
I couldn't agree more, love to still see Kanan respect years after he's gone.
@@harrymonster06 I know that. That's not what I'm talking about.
Kanan found the purple stud
Connect with everything, but try not to attach to anything. Reach out with your feelings, but don’t get caught up in your emotions. Kanan nailed that.
Q: Is Kanan Jarrus one of the best examples of a "true" Jedi?
A: HELL YEA!! Hands down! My favourite Jedi out of all of them.
So good, Thor. Old reliable car analogy is spot on.
Kanan is my favorite, along with Obi-Wan. I identify with Kanan the most. I love his redemption the most.
Do a hypothetical situation where some members of the Jedi Council survive Order 66 and join the Rebellion. What if they trained Luke?
Or what if Padmé survived ROTS. She would’ve been an instrumental player in the Galactic Civil War.
(Very rough translation.)
Now I will watch the vid.
Just sayin'
I wouldn't say it he was too quick to befriend the clones. Remember, the Clones were victims too. They didn't have much choice either.
Hear me out:
To become a spirit a Jedi has to know their true self accept it and let go. It’s possible that he earned the ability to become a spirit and we just didn’t see it.
well, he becomes a wolf
Kanan is one of the best characters of the franchise and serves as a great example of what a Jedi should be. He is also one of the best examples of the differences between the Jedi pre and post fall of the Order. The Jedi before the fall were all held down with dogma, bureaucracy, moral and political compromises. After the fall those Jedi that survived really went back to the basics of being Jedi. No more dogmatic council or rigid code, it was just them and the force and finding there own balance. To me this is why so many of the Jedi from after the fall of the Jedi Order are better at being true Jedi then those from before the fall were.
Yay my first shout out. Now I can die happy 🤣
He's seriously one of my favorite characters.
I love seeing more attention being giving to my favorite Star Wars character. Such a well done character that gets looked over so often
The SW Rebels series was how I introduced my kids to the SW universe. They were between 8 and 10 when the series was first released. It was amazing then and now. My 16 year old goes back and watches them from time to time, as do I. This was some of the strongest character development and story telling in the SW universe.
Thanks for notifying me about this video *AFTER TWENTY MINUTES* RUclips!
Humble request: what's the new hammer in his black and white "his voice" photo? Where Luke is holding this hammer like Thor does... What's it from?!?
It's actually an original design.

@@thorskywalker Ok thanks.
Kanan is a great character. I like him alot. Thanks for the video Thor.
Kanan Jarrus is awesome. Can't say the same about Freddie Prinze Jr.
Wasn't fond of Kanan at all when I first came across him; he didn't seem at all Jedi-like to me and he wasn't helped by having Prinze, Jr. as a voice actor, who I never liked.
Kanan is such a fantastic character...if he was in a movie he would score alot higher
Kanan should be a lot higher than 25th IMO :(

Kanan, Qui-Gon, Luke and Obi-Wan are.
Obi wan is great but he still has many of the same flaws the majority of the prequel jedi do

Kanan is not the most powerful or the most skilled jedi but still he proved himself worthy of the title of jedi knight.
Hey thanks for reading my comment. When I heard my name I did a double take then saw my icon pop up. U put a smile on my face.
it was a good comment!
Kanan is among the top 5 Jedi for me, wildly underrated. He lets the Force guide his actions, and Filoni makes that so visible to the audience.
I love Kanan and his story arc totally give him an A, his sacrifice is that of a true Jedi, doing something for the good of friends, family and the galaxy. I haven't read this novel yet, it is on my reading lists.
He was even better in A Last Dawn

The only true Jedi is anyone who collects enough studs
I don’t understand how people can give Katan an F or a D. Rebels is a good show with good characters.
Kanan is one of the best Jedi in all of Star Wars!!
The distinction between attachment and connection.
I still can’t believe Ezra is below Hera, out of the Ghost crew I’d rank them:
1. Kanan Jarris
2. Sabine Wren
3. Ezra Bridger
4. Hera Syndulla
5. Zeb
I love the whole ghost crew, but my favorite aspect is the kanen and ezra relationship. It's alot of fun to watch. While yes rebels isn't a perfect show it gave great characters and the stories for these characters were awesome.
His arc was almost perfect but I guess Rebels couldn't bring the weight it needed.
Rouge 1)
The biggest flaw of the jedi was that they forget the code. If you play KOTOR you know that they forget the code. That was their flaw
He will always be Great Value Ben Kenobi to. He is likable but still B tier to me.
Kanan awesome! Freddy prince? Not so much. But thats why its important to separate the two....I say a soild B I enjoyed his comics and novel alot
Nobody is going to reference Lego Star Wars' "true jedi" here :)
@@blackshogun272 - what you’ve said is not necessarily contradictory to what I said... but my point is, characters without agency are not interesting.

I haven’t even watched the video yet and I can already tell you Kanan is probably the best Jedi that we have seen in canon.
