Wow I enjoyed your reaction so much!! Can’t wait for part 2. To pimp a butterfly is a living masterpiece 🔥❤️ as you’ll come to understand the more you listen to Kendrick, he is the master of voices. He has many different voices that he chooses to rap in depending on the perspective he’s rapping from!!
6:02, I don’t think writers are a bad thing, Kanye used writers and credited them and no one had a problem. Just when people like Drake pay writers and claim it as his own, that’s the problem.
100% Kanye is a collaborator. Drake is a clout chaser. Ye could have come up to you and asked what you thought of the line 'no man should have that power'? Then you say what about 'no one man should have all that power'? And you would get a lyricist credit. I hate drawing parallels but that's more generous than Drake's been most of his life. Exposure is more powerful than money.
I would love to see you reacting to Denzel Curry (Imperial or Taboo). He is a very heavy metal rapper in my opinion, very energetic, a lot of references to pop culture. One of the bests of the new generation, as well as Joey Badass, JID and so on..
This is quite a timely video, as I've been trying to get into this album aswell, and I've got to a similiar point as you! I'm really enjoying the organic and funky beats but it seems like such a complex record (I'll probably have to have a listen dedicated to thinking about the lyrics), that I think listening in small chunks is more palatable for me at the moment. See you on the next part of the adventure!
Rap genius provides the lyrics with annotations when u click on them. Which really helps u grasp each concept of the song. Although personally it's more fun to find the meaning on my own.

Heyyyy one of my favorite albums of all time. Truly a masterpiece, although quite dense and takes a few listens for it to settle. Kendrick is deep, so are his rhyme schemes..
He finally did it.. I found this channel when he did the MGMT review for little dark age and commented for him to do this album and I kept commenting and it never came, I left for some time.. now I’m back and he done did
I dearly wish this prod/rock fan makes it big relatively soon, because they actually deliver some professional bits of commentary and don't just sit there, motionless, completely thieving material. Kudos.
I'm happy to have finally gotten around to this album recently. Fantastic album with extremely potent songwriting. I'd definitely suggest also checking out Good Kid Mad City if you enjoyed this. It's the album that came before this and it's another great listen.
