End of thier glorious rivalry....2003 to 2024....can't even take it in...but had to come to an end...thank you rafa djoko, fed and Murray... I grew up with your tennis....and lived it all....gracias ❤
Merci.
I will never forget the AO 2012 final. It was an absolute gut-wrencher. And of course, the Kia executive's marathon speech afterwards which literally brought these two to their knees !!
In that embrace at the net after the match, Nadal wanted to wriggle out in haste - showing his true colours - but Novak didn't leave him and hugged as one last parting shot.
In my opinion you're right. A very serious, borderline bitter personality he is displaying here and moreso for several years (I might be completely wrong and perhaps he's extremely relaxed/outgoing in private). Almost of all his smiling seems pretty much forced to me, beginning in 2009/2010 when they started (mis)placing him more and more in stupid commercials. It is extremely difficult, this constellation, in terms of voicing one's opinion. In almost 20 years of the big 3 being the big 3, there have been certain patterns recognizable to me amongst the fan bases, showcasing the good as well as the worst. There are particular trigger points to each of the groups... just pathetic... If there was a gun pointed at me, it would be very difficult, but in the end, questions like overall favourite player, playstyle AND personality, or just playstyle, or just personality, overall worst fanbase,... there would be a clear, non-biased answer to all though. No matter if it was a 0:6 loss, a third set would have been awesome. R.I.P. one of the greatest rivalries in sports : (
Can't thank them enough.. Started with Roger vs Nadal, then came to the fore Djokovic + Andy.. An extremely long era for a sport to dominate by only some players.. The changing guards are here to see.. The difference from Sinner Vs Alcaras at the finals match.. The speed was crazy.. Hopefully their eras can come as close as the legends era.. 🙏🙏
Awesome, that made things more even. Very Astute observation on your part. Considering, Rafa is retired, played maybe 3 singles matches, since the Olympics, is completely out of shape, had taken pretty much a whole year off with injuries. When he did come back, mentally had a hard time making himself go full out, as he thought doing so, would make him get hurt again. As he admitted, I’m not playing well enough to win anymore. Mentally & Physically, he was done. Probably more Mentally. Going full out, driving & hustling for every ball, was a massive part of Rafa’s game. You can’t be successful at a high level only going 90-95%. Novak’s not an idiot, he knows all this. He knows he was playing a completely different Nadal.
Not bashing these two legends but we can see how different this match was compared to Sinner vs Alcaraz's. The level is a notch above. Different intensity. We are well into the new era of tennis.
The same thing was said to me about Michael Jordan in 1990 when nobody thought he would win the NBA, much less that he would be better than Magic or Burd, time will tell. You should consider that miracles exist, and if not, think about everything that had to happen for him to be born on this planet. In 2022, they also laughed at what I wrote about Alcaraz, after 2 years he already has 4 Grand Slams, next…

Rafa's body is ruined! You can se it. So so sad! This match looked slow motion compared to Sinner Vs Alcaraz! Such a shame! Bow out gracefully Rafa, you have nothing left to prove!
Well for a nadal way past his prime and very unpracticed, he put up a fight. Glimmers of vintage stuff like we were used to seeing back in the day. These old boys have given the sport everything. Nice end to their chapter. I'm sure nadal didn't mind losing at all and didn't expect lofty standards this tournament. He's just there to have fun and another final hurrah

How nice of the 🐐 to let the second best player in the history to win 6 games in the second set. Joker felt sorry for Nadal after winning the first set easily.
Novak knows it will be a walk in the park, as Rafa has reached the end of his career, and Rafa also knows there is no way to play competitively with less than 50% in his tank.
A warrior until the end... gracias Rafa!
A worthy finale to probably the greatest rivalry in tennis (and maybe sports). Bravo to both men.
End of an era😢

Tennis history.

So nice watching them play
Congratulation Novak and thank Rafa ❤❤
Wasn't expecting Rafa to even take a set to a tie breaker 👏
A true LEGEND. Thank you Rafa.
What a second set
Djokovic was playing in slow motion not to hurt Rafa too much.
I'm thinking the same. He didn't try his best to dominate. Just a friendly last match against his incredible rival.
Yes
I felt same way
im no fan of him but just by serve and volley he could have won this match easy

Djokovik let you play your tennis that's why i love him, he didnt turn GOD mode

After watching Sinner vs Alcaraz match, this one seems like slow motion.
Sinner ❤ the number one
I think novak went a little soft on him,he has a lot of respect for rafa 🙏🎾
Great match. Thanks Rafa...
Novak played very softly against Rafa.

Djokovic claramente economizando !!
I want to cry
Love you both😘
Well Novak thrashed Nadal so easily at Olympics played on clay and it is intriguing to see him struggling against Nadal on indoor hard.
After seeing the Sinner Alcaraz final, this is a look into the past. It was great fun but its over.
Not bashing these two legends but we can see how different this match was compared to Sinner vs Alcaraz's. The level is a notch above. Different intensity. We are well into the new era of tennis.
The notch was raised to equal standing with Sinner vs Alcaraz when compared to Nole VS Sinner match up.

He is finished for Big Tournaments. Nadal is not like Murray or Wawrinka. Because of he can't win GS or M1000, Rafa decided to retire.
