I had to choose between a 1.04 CTW art deco style ring with white and yellow diamonds [had my heart set on it] but then...I saw a modern solitaire diamond ring with channel set diamonds on the side and a cathedral style....and I was SOLD. It spoke to me. White and rose gold
for me, 8 years and no engagement ring yet. I am just looking for fun at this point and maybe i will just buy myself a nice ring later on instead if waiting for someone.
I actually got engaged last year and picked out the ring with my fiance as well and while we're not really planning on having a wedding ceremony or reception, I always find it so interesting to see how other people think through the wedding planning process. That’s a good question! I suppose that’s another way to go about it, but either way you’ll probably have certain preferences about the setting, regardless of the stone. But you might still make adjustments based on any number of factors. It’s can also kind of be a chicken-or-the-egg thing because I knew I wanted a rose cut diamond, which I personally looks nice in a low profile setting - which is the type of setting wanted anyway!

If you are customizing an engagement ring, why wouldn't you pick out your stone first then design the setting to best compliment the stone itself?
