Sora's "What are you people." Is the most realist reaction I've ever seen in kingdom hearts.

That flat goodbye is what unnerves me. No speech or anything that grandiose. Just a simple flat goodbye and immediate immolation.
Axel is a savage and I love him for it.
Well he IS a Nobody. He only pretends to have feelings. Though it still kind of weird knowing that Axel fully well missed Roxas and Vexen here sincerely seems scared to be erased.
From Sora's perspective, he just saw a guy get murdered while begging for his life. He's probably thankful he doesn't remember this.
bruh... sora's slow reaction at 1:48 is kinda haunting. at the end of the day, he's a kid witnessing a agonizing death

I know, props to the animators, because honestly, that was my reaction too, being how more chilled the first game was

I know that this was probably really traumatizing for Sora, and the way Vexen is genuinely terrified and begging for his life just makes it more horrifying, but I just love this moment and can't really take it seriously because of the "Goodbye *snap*"
That goodbye snap was awesome though

You’ve got to realize, this the first time Sora has seen someone beg for their life before having it forcefully snuffed out.

Island destroyed in front of his eyes, friend being lifeless husks, had to witness death for someone pleading for their life, witness friends die before him, almost died many times YEP SEEMS LIKE A GOOD PLOT FOR A KIDS GAME

Gotta say, Chain of Memories is the most angstiest and rawest emotional game out of the whole series honestly
I know Axel uses fire but this guy has *no* chill.
For a guy with a fiery attitude that was ice cold.
This is when we really see Axel in his true role in the Organization, a merciless assassin
His role is to destroy traitors to the Organization
And in COM he directly or indirectly saw to that all the other Organization members died in this event, with himself as the only survivor and witness to the event
This was him before his friendship with Roxas And Xion, and partly Sora changed him
What’s worse is that sometimes he just killed them because he was trying to boost their ranks in the organization. He killed Zexion solely because Zexion knew what they were doing.

@@nawab256 By eliminating Vexen and Zexion at least, Saix managed to "rank up" (so to speak) as the positions before him disappeared (Saix being Number 7, Zexion being 6 and Vexen being number 4)

Vexen was a jerk, but honestly I found him to be one of the most interesting KH character ever since Even
not sure if this is a joke or not but if so well played.

@@wildfluffyappeared thats why Yozora tells Sora that he is being told to save Sora being killing Sora so when he dies he can go back to his world and not unreality.Remember Sora looks different to us when he arrived to quadratum, the same will happen with Riku and he will turn to Yozora or at least look like him. ( its my theory not an actual thing but i think its possible)

I finally managed to beat him earlier on and when he was killed it made me think of that British quiz show that used to be on TV, the Weakest Link.

No lie, this is my favorite version of Axel. A cold, calculating, and merciless double agent whose motives you can't quite figure out.
Watching him evolve and learn to feel through Days and KH2 was fun, but I think they overdid it and kind of made him boring when they turned him human again. I wish they'd kept some of that edge that made him so entertaining early on.

In the GBA version, Donald and Goofy also witnessed Vexen's death. Too bad they were removed in this version.

The only game in the KH series where Axel truly feels like a "Assassin with personal motives".
Thinking again at it, what he does here in Chain of Memories pays back to him in more than one way.
By eliminating Vexen, he gained Marluxia and Larxene's trust, helped Saïx rise in the ranks and pretty much shielded Roxas, since Vexen was about to screw him over by revealing to Sora the truth about Twilight Town.
It's funny since Marluxia and Larxene wield weapons commonly associated with assassination and/or death in general, yet Axel's the one doing the killing.
Fave moment was Vexen being burnt to a crisp at the snap of Axel’s fingers.
I kind of like how Vexen goes from "know your place in this organization" to begging number 8 not to kill him. That's pretty interesting

Not quit the same place. Xion and Axel’s was at the actual real place. The others were fabricated from memories.

Axel killed Vexen because Marluxia ordered him to do so as a test of loyalty. Axel had to make Marluxia think he was on his side and was also in on the plan to overthrow the Organization. Vexen was going to warn Sora about Marluxia messing with his memories.
Not to mention all the callbacks to the "other side of his heart" were lowkey hints at Roxas.
Vexen was *definitely* talking too much.
