Indiana has some great breweries but the 'racing capital of the world' was hilarious. Driving around in a circle with cars that have 60's technology seems a bit elementary for example to us Finns who have 14 World Rally Championships and 4 Formula One championships from a nation of under 6 million.

The IMS is the oldest purpose-built motor racing speedway in existence, so I don't know how you can't say it doesn't have heritage. The thing that's crazy about that track is that the angles have never changed in its entire history(speeds have gone from 120 to 200+ mph), and the original brick serves as the finish line. I can't think of a track off the top of my head with more history. I agree that the oval is not very technical, however, the road course they use for formula 1 and moto gp is absolutely A+. Not to mention they do redbull air race there which pays omage to the airshow that they would do before the race in it's early days.
