  • Networking is not a dirty word.
If there's one thing I've learned throughout my journey, it's that networking is essential for building a strong client base as a virtual assistant. Yet, so many of us shy away from it because we associate it with inauthentic, transactional interactions. My objective today is to change that viewpoint and demonstrate how genuine, value-driven networking can lead to more clients and, ultimately, a thriving VA business.
    Tip 1: Use social media.
    Tip 2: Use VA groups.
    Tip 3: Use testimonials.
Networking is a marathon, not a sprint. With patience, persistence, and a commitment to offering genuine value, your efforts will pay off.

    Well done Erin.
    I have some few questions.
    1. What's the best way to engage with people out of your niche on LinkedIn ?
    2. I still have a challenge of getting communities on LinkedIn. How do I find them ?

Great questions! Personally, I think the best way to engage with people outside of your niche is to start by commenting on people's post and follow them. I think that this kind of interaction is more natural and tends to lead to a better rapport than randomly send inbox messages. People check those less and less these days anyway!
In terms of groups, there are some thriving communities here and there but it requires some digging. First, type in the niche or group you want to find in the search bar. For ex, type in "virtual assistant" in the search bar.
When you hit "enter," LinkedIn will pull up some options under the searchbar - one of those is "groups." You'll see communities, some of which have over 50K active members! You can join those, introduce yourself, etc :)

      1. Yeah on the issue of engagement that's what I do.
How long are you supposed to inbox those people after engaging on their content ?
      2. On the issue of groups, I'm gonna try it out.
Though sometimes I prefer joining those with a small number of followers ie less than 3k.
They tend to more active than bigger ones.
To your side, how is your experience ?

Should a new VA take on tasks that are tech related like developing & marketing e-commerce stores? I had one person contact me and it was about coding and these stuff I honestly know nothing about 😢

That’s tough. You can either tell them that you have 0 experience in those areas but that you’re able to learn quickly OR you can say “sorry that’s out of my scope.. but here are my services.” It depends on how much risk you’re willing to take and if the services they’re asking for are even services that you think you want to potentially learn and offer to future clients.

Hey there Erin please can you make a vid regarding niche oriented virtual assistants? For example: v.a s for podacasters and stuff in demand for that and can teens become a v.a?
