Your right shoulder is lower than your left shoulder and causing you grief in part due to being rolled forward. This is because your peck muscle has wound itself tight on the right side. Take a lacrosse ball, lie on your front with it under your right peck and slowly massage the area. Then stretch your peck off for 60 seconds 3 times. Should be good to go. Talking from experience, mine was so bad my scapula shot up through my trap.

Today is day 23 of the challenge. Up until now, I had left shoulder injury, left elbow injury, left wrist injury and right knee injury but I didn't stop. I replaced the pull-ups by the push-ups and running by crosstrainer. The pain in the left shoulder and elbow has subdued, so I'm going back to pull-ups.
It's the first time ever I'm using social media to post something about my life. The ONLY reason I'm doing this is to keep myself accountable. I made the promise to post every single day: twitter.com/Pianistos

Being blessed with life, safety, a community that instilled values, integrity and compassion, good health etc creates a social responsibility that battles with laziness.
Who am I to squander these privileges life has randomly dealt to me when so many millions in the past, present and future have suffered and sacrificed so much just to have the chance of the opportunity of half of my blessings?
From my perspective I know you can be the best you because I don't have mental blocks giving me excuses stopping me from believing in you.

Back in the 90 I was in jail.. We had a routine 1000 push up breakfast, lunch and dinner and 1000 back arms. Had to work up to it but I had the time. I was also highly motivated - I was young and locked up with killers. I also spent six weeks in the hole behind some bullshit - that routine got me through the 6 weeks of isolation. Some people are writing their name on the walls with feces in a week. I was fine. Anyway I was locked up for 16 months and when I left I could do 10 sets of 100 pushups like nothing. I'm 22 and had the same "disregard the pain" mentality a few years ago when I wanted to get into running. Now here I am years later, still hovering around the 5k mark because I injured myself by going too hard in the start and have struggled with pain in my legs ever since :( Everytime I pick up the pace in my training I can feel the pain come back. I'm still trying to get into it by going extremely easy, but even then it can start to hurt... So yes I agree, you should push yourself - but make sure to listen to your body and as you said - distinguish pain from injury.

Of course. I overtrained One Summer and it took me almost a year to recover from one summer of overtraining. And I could prove that empirically from the times that I was doing. My overtraining involved swimming 24,000 meters a day. It did not make me faster, it made me slower, it did not give me more endurance, it gave me less and ultimately did not make me mentally tougher because once I trained like that I became very aware of my own weakness and my time's going up made me doubt myself. David Goggins is possibly the worst person somebody could follow to become physically fit

pain can be different things. If it's just tight muscles then doing some HARDCORE stretching will help a lot. I'm talking seriously horrible stretches. I had constantly sore calves when I was doing parkour 5 days a week, then a coach did a partner stretch with me and my calves have been great since I learned to stretch them and foam roll them etc. Getting rid of the calf tightness also helped my knees a lot

"No pain no gain!" said no modern fitness expert. The benefit of exercise comes from progressive overload and supercompensation. If you don't rest the following day, you don't get the same benefit and you significantly increase risk. Self-harm if you want to. It's a free country. But you're a role model for a lot of people who can't afford to lose the use of their shoulders. Pushing through the pain is virtually guaranteed to progressively injure your shoulders and those injuries might not fully manifest until years down the road. There are thousands of unpleasant challenges to choose from that don't damage the most mobile joint in your body.

Lex, thank you for taking the time to talk to us about your journey. As a former Boston Marathon qualifier I have lost my motivation and drive to run, and my motivation to be a time in general. I stumbled upon your podcast on RUclips a few days ago and following sice then. Im looking forward to continue to find inspiration from you. Keep up the good work! 💪🏼

This can't be good for your overall muscle system. Isn't overworking a thing? Why even do this challenge? You should have challenged yourself to run up a mountain or kayak an entire lake or something fun. This seems so pointless.
    PS. You are awesome.

I paddle between 7 and 10 km every morning and and an hour swim every evening (around 3 km) but at least the view and the sunshine make it enjoyable. I don't think I have the motivation to do what he does inside an apartment. To each their own and good on him.

Those "challenges" are not a sensible thing to do. Train hard AND smart instead.

That is the point, to train the mind you need to do non sensible things, because that is when your mind knows to become scared and that is something to overcome.

    • @kjchannel9615
      @kjchannel9615 4 года назад

@@Marzaries I'm just saying that you can train hard with progressive overload and be very uncomfortable and train your mind. But why do this everyday when you know that recovery is important ect. Training your mind by destroying your body is stupid imho. Lex failed the challenge already as he had to stop due to lack of recovery. And yes I know that David Goggins' book makes those things very tempting to try.

“Be still my heart; thou hast known worse than this”
Thank you for your videos. I am reminded to follow my passions and not listen to others even when it is so logical to lead a “balanced life”. I work best under pressure and throw myself into things I love and I question my life over and over with their words in my head. However, it is things like this video and people like you who remind me why I have this Homer quote tattoo, to remind me suffering is always there to push me through the doubts and the ups and downs and the voices saying it’s too big and you’re so small and to know it has been worse than this. And it always gets better. Suffering has shaped me into love, and with love al things are possible.

I have since moved countries (from Japan to the US) work life got busy, weight and motivation went down. Now I need to reset my mind and body. Time to get back to it.

I've been involved in combat sports my whole life. Over the past few years, after my competitive "career" (I was only an amateur) ended, I let myself get pretty out of shape. With all of the activities you're involved in, if you still find time to do this, I know I have no excuse. Looks like it's time to get back at it. Thanks for the motivation.

I started running and exercising daily right after I saw the launch video. That first run I learned something about discipline and have kept pushing since. I take a day off each week to recover. The first almost turned into stopping and the second day off felt weird...like I should have been out there running. Haven't been concerned about running time so that might be the metric to push on through the 30-days finish. Just want to thank you for all the great podcasts and for this challenge. It's been a blast and caused me to reach a new personal record.
