The upper strut mount provides a locating point for the top of the front struts. It contains a rubber-isolated bearing that allows the strut shaft to move independently from the rest of the suspension - a critical component for the suspension to be quiet and effective. The rubber also absorbs vibrations and impact harshness, helping to keep unwanted noise and harshness from reaching the steering wheel.

Very quick and efficient. No extraneous information. Appreciate the socket size labels. I changed out my front struts and saved some Benjamins.
Thank you for watching 😊
Love the tutorials without commentary! Thank you!!
Thank you for watching!
Excellent video. Provided all the necessary info. I only wish that my lower strut mounting bolts came out as easily as yours- gently tapping out with the side of a wrench, haha! Will probably need to heat the last one to remove it
Excellent video and with detail of torque to which it must be adjusted!
Thank you!
Great video! 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
thank you for your interesting video tutorial.
It’s very impressive
Thank you for watching! 😊
This is great! About to fix mine! I don't have a power wrench so I believe loosening the strut nut while the strut is still anchored on the car would be easier vs after taking it out.
Break it lose, anyway. I know the spring has tension on it.
@@garymeyers7983 Im glad you get it out!
Good stuff
Thank you!
Awesome. Thank you.
Thank you for watching! 🙂
@@mikes.garage I really enjoyed the video. It was detailed enough and showed all the steps involved in a short time. I have a 2011 Elantra and I will be changing the worn-out front shocks myself. I am a DIY person, but it is empowering to learn from the experts in order to do the job right. Safety first, always.
Dude excellent video and format. So I just ordered a “quick strut” for my 2011 elantra. The mount is worn and also the strut is shot. So since I’m getting the complete assembly I’m assuming I don’t need to do the spring compressing bit?
Thank you for watching!
No, you don't need to do the spring compression. This is the best way to replace whole strut assembly.
@@mikes.garage awesome, thank you! And thanks for the quick reply!
Great video what was the reason for changing this. Just asking as I have a noise coming from front end and can’t seem to be able to find it.
Thank you for watching! The struts bushings were destroyed and was knocking sound on a bumps.
I think I will get mine checked out as I have similar symptoms thank for your assistance I’ve been looking for some time now 👍🏼
Can you provide a link for the jackstands that you use? To get mine under, the car was up so high the back wheel almost came off the ground.
Any jack stands will work
If I’m doing both front struts, is it best to jack up the whole front end, or can I do one side at a time? Something about the sway bar being easier to remove?
Yes, best to jack up whole front end. Yes, it’s easier to remove sway bar links
At the 2:49 mark, do you have anything supporting the assembly when it came loose?
I didn’t, but you can tighten it with something
Nice, Even though I got a, 2017. I got the gist and that's all that matters.
Thank you for watching!
Ok pretty good. You should have marked the wiper blade nut and arm
Good idea! I will do this next time 😉
There are lines on the windshield to line up the wiper arms.
At the :54 second mark, you didn’t look for the jack point underneath. How did you jack it up?
I did look, just not on camera.
@@mikes.garage What did you use as the jacking point?
@@dad0041 car frame
I have a 2011 and it looks nothing like this under the hood, what am I missing
Should be the same
Did the car need an alignment after?
Better to do alignment after any suspension fix.
@@mikes.garage I appreciate that thank you
Why?
Awesome job though
