    Best video iv seen on doing struts. Thanks for making it. Saved slot of money on labor. Video was great in detail.

    You can bring the strut up to the bolt holes on top before it's attached to the knuckle so you don't have to lift the whole brake assembly with one hand while tightening the nuts on top.

  • @tombuza5531
    @tombuza5531 3 года назад +4

    That's not a strut knuckle that's a sway bar link. Nice job!

    Thanks. I just did this on mine today. To note, I got KYB Excel-G struts which were taller than the OEM ones, so the length of the new completed strut assembly was longer than the OEM one.

      I've got to do my fronts with those kyb you didn't have any reassembly issues did you?

      @@dirtbagthings No issues with reassembly. Using the same springs, the car's wheel gap distance stayed the same after installation.

    When installing the strut assembly back into the car, isn’t it best to support the front control arm with a floor jack for safety?

    Where did you place your jack stand? do you have a pic or video on that? The hardest part of these cars is finding a safe place to jack / jack stand. I know the notches in the pinch welds work, but I can't use that for both the jack point and stand point simultaneously.

    • @23sapper
      @23sapper  5 лет назад

      I used a floor jack, lifted one side, placed a jack stand, then did the same to the other side.

    • @christopherhendricks4369
      @christopherhendricks4369 3 года назад

      I don't trust those pinch welds at all. Maybe for jacking up the car with the hydraulic jack but I support it by the suffrage front on jack stands

    Hi all. I have a 2013 Elantra with 65,000. Question please. How do I know when the struts and shocks need replacement?

    • @SadComicLaughs
      @SadComicLaughs 5 месяцев назад

      obviously this question doesn't matter to you being 2 years old but for other people wondering if you are hitting bumps and you hear a loud metal clank or you think any small bump is feeling way to much bump (bounce) when you go over it... you could have a failing shock absorber... it wont always be both when it happens... my left side failed first on my car and it was pretty noticeable

  • @TEXASBABYDOLL13
    @TEXASBABYDOLL13 4 года назад +1

    What shocks should I buy for my 2013 Hyundai elantra, I have heard That KYB is a really good brand for the rear but I need some for the front as well... any suggestions?

    • @23sapper
      @23sapper  4 года назад +2

      That’s a good brand but I would recommend Monroe, maybe $5-10 more but better quality, but KTB will be fine.

    What's the price on this job? Both sides?
    Will a strut or stabilizer cause a rattle noise on the elantra suspension?

    • @23sapper
      @23sapper  3 года назад +1

      You may need to replace the bushings as seen at this link www.carid.com/2012-hyundai-elantra-control-arm-bushings-hardware/
      Or the lower control arm as seen at this link images.app.goo.gl/pN3rZLDLvGmnzbuV9

    • @23sapper
      @23sapper  3 года назад +2

      Bushings usually get rid of rattling noise. with coil springs and struts I think it’s about $175 a set, but with just struts, like $60-70

    Hey man, tried doing this job today and got all the way down to the sway bar link just not wanting to come out at the top. is it just stuck?

    • @SadComicLaughs
      @SadComicLaughs 5 месяцев назад

      im sure you figured it out but for others in the future sway link bar nuts can be a pain in the ass ... some you can grab behind the nut with a 16mm or 17mm crescent wrench ... this keeps the bolt from spinning while taking off the nut... some have a alan wrench cut out in the center of the bolt for you to lock the bolt from spinning but obviously you can't use a socket than to get the nut off you have to use an open end wrench or crescent and that presents more problems considering these bolts are on with a ton of torque.

  • @ashleycnmoreland
    @ashleycnmoreland 3 года назад

    Using 19 mm get bolt out but it seems stuck. What do you recommend. I even use stuff that helps stuff get lose.

    • @23sapper
      @23sapper  3 года назад

      PB Blaster works well to loosen bolts. Sometimes I’ve had bolts so tight the it took a few hours of PB blaster soaking the bolt.

      My tires had an uneven wear which is a sign of bad struts.
