Yeah lt500 absolutely the best performance quad I've ridden.. Incredible power from the low end all the way through the power band incredible pull at 7000 RPM..
The only difference between the 700r and 700r se = special edition....., is the coloring basically. The only thing you'll ever gain is if you go to sell it down the line. You'll get a couple hundred or so more than a non SE however you're paying that much more up front anyway so it's a wash. I don't know anything about you but before going out to buy a raptor keep in mind your physical size and strength as well as experience and riding style and area. The raptor is a taller but narrow machine the yzf 450 is shorter but wider and race track ready straight from the factory that you sit down more into the bike rather than on the bike like the raptor. If you ride all sorts of terrain I'd look into a polaris scrambler or can am renegade both will go anywhere having 2 and 4 wheel drive crazy power and you'll never get bored with what you can do with them
Bought a new LT500R in 1989 for $3850. Had a pipe, reeds and exhaust on it. Went up 1 tooth on the front sprocket and 2" taller on the rear tires. Crazy fast!
I have an 87 500 Quadracer. Mint condition i rebuilt it from the ground up. Twist throttle and all. I used to race the open class in the late 80s on one also. It was and still Is a beast.
Ryan Smith about what ? I’m 47 and that’s the quads that were manufactured during that time. The banshee and the 500 were considered open class. As far as the 500 you act like it’s some high price item 😂 @bmurphysart (ig)
I owned an 89 Quadzilla back in 1990 and it was def fast but in no way meant for trail riding. Track quad all the way. Also owned a 1984 Honda 200x, 1986 Honda 250r atc, and a 2000 Honda 400ex. I now own a 2014 Raptor 700se. I have the Monster Pipe dual exhaust, Monster timing chain window cover, Flexx handlebars, Blaster controller, Monster Flow intake, HiPer beadlocks, and HID headlights. Love it! Sounds sick! Anyhow check out the Flexx bars, I will never use anything else.
@@comandercoconut4921 I never said they rode like shit. You had said they float thru trails. Ride quality was fine. We must just have different ideas on what "trails" are. Quadzillas were pretty wide stock. ( I had aftermarket a arms, rear axle, and +5 extended swing arm) among other mods. Even before doing anything to it being a 2 stroke with monster powerbands it wasn't a good trail machine. It was born and bred for the track and dunes.
A banshee is a 350 twin. Liquid cooled. A BLASTER is a 200cc air cooled completely different quad. I've had em all tecate 3 kxt 250, blaster, banshee, 250r, lt500r quadzilla. Both the banshee and lt500 had pipes and ported engines. Lt500r was a beast. Power on tap every gear all the time.
The Zilla is an awesome bike. I have two a 87 & 89 both are being rebuilt. They were the fastest production bike off the showroom floor. And still hold the record today. I seen an article dirt wheels made with Duncan racing. Their LT500R vs their LTR450. Modded both over 4grand in the 450 and a little over 2 grand in the 500. The 500 won in power and speed but lost in comfort and handling. The 500 is real bad for bump-steer and bad shocks. But still an amazing quad
I've had an lt500r for a few years now it's so much fun I'm 6'6 nearly 400 lbs and even I've gotten it up to 80 and even shifting into 2nd was coming up into a wheelie by accident while on a decline too
Good video man, the raptor 700 is very reliable even if you modify it. Mine is 10 years old now and never had any real issues with it. keep the videos coming
MotoPosh i have a turbo kit on it and some engine work. Try pcv+dual barkers+dynatec ignition module (programmable) and cam stage2. I think you will love it :)
You need a license, insurance, registration and extra upgrades, like mirrors, signals, and lights. It's a pain in the ass but it's great once it's all set up
I watch your videos. I would like to own a sport quad with loads of power and torque and reverse gear like a Raptor. It is cool to hear about benchmark ATV's of my youth. I have a 1979 ATC 110 3-wheeler I grew up with that I still ride some, and is in very good condition. At the time it was considered adult sized, it was the biggest ATC Honda made until the 1980 year model 185 came out to complement the ATC 110 and kid friendly ATC 70. Then came many more larger racing, sport, utility 3 wheelers from Honda and the other manufacturers, even Polaris made a 250 cc 3 wheeler right before their quads! Then came the quads of all types. The Quadzilla, Banshee, Honda 250r, and Tecate 4 were and still are awesome sport quads. The 200cc 2 stroke Yamaha was called a Blaster, as far as I know the Banshee was always a 350cc liquid cooled twin cylinder 2 stroke. Anyway, like your videos of Daytona and Raptor, and this topic of a legendary ATV. Shane
Thanks for your comment Shane, years ago I rode a family friend's ATC 110 and it was a great machine to get around on the farm.. wish they still made something like it!
its not a banshee. its a suzuki quadzilla, becuse its a 500cc quad. from the factory is the quadzilla fastest but the banshee can you tun it faster end the quadzilla
"This video is not sponsored but anyways let me talk for two minutes about these headlights that I have a discount code that gets me money but yeah not sponsors" wut
Another guy who's never seen or ridden a good running stock Zilla. Sigh... You do realize that your 686cc Raptor has almost 11% less hp stock than an LT500, and it weighs 30 lbs more. (422 vs 392). Now how exactly is your Craptor faster? Sure, if it's got some crazy mods, it could be faster than a stock Zilla, just like any quad could be. But stock for stock, nothing really comes close to a Zilla, even today.

Dylan Osborn ye
I have a blaster their pretty fast if you modify them

@@davidblum_ yeah I got a few blasters aswell. They're small but honestly one of the most fun atvs ever lol

Hey I just got that baby lt250r it's a ripper and I was wondering it currently has twist throttle should I switch it to stock thumb?
I had one way back in the early 90s was a beast it’s wheelbase is long and wide so it’s very comfortable to ride.

I got a 88 500cc Quadzilla I in the final stages of a frame up restoration as we speak im 49 and I cant wait to ride it!!!
Had an 87 with DG pipe and K&N directly on the carb, it would climb everything at ST Anthony sanddunes in 3rd gear out of 5 with no run up.

the 500 two stroke has a lot of torque. I bought an LT 500 when I was 14
Did you just look at it? If I'd bought one at that age, I would not be here to tell about it.
Jared Reviea I wanna get one I have a Lt250r quadracer
I’ve been over 100mph on two quads, one Suzuki 500R and a Banshee, both had work done. Very wild rides!

what are you driving?
The quadzilla has way less potential for power then a banshee
What about the Honda 700XX? (53 hp and 86 mph stock)
it dosent go 86 stock the google is wrong i have one and my raptor smokes it

If you want to see IMO the best person to modify a Zilla, check out Dr.Q vids. I had him build my 92 Suzuki lt250r and it’s awesome!
I am new to the raptors , can you please tell me what am I missing if I buy like a 2014 model from a 2018 model coz the new models are expensive af
2015 models and up, yamaha added 10% more power and adjusted throttle response. If I were you and looking to buy used, shop around for 2015+
I second that. I would try and find a 2015 or newer because of the increased compression (i.e. more power)
I had 2007 se 700 raptor. Awsome hard to be ahead out of hole thoe since eather pull front end or spin . But no one keep up in last gear
Had a Suzuki lr 400 se that thing handle so good and was quick I liked it more that the raptor
The discount code for the headlights isn't working

Yes I'm in South Dakota, it's legal here!
WOW your so lucky!!! I'm in Missouri wish we could do it here..so ima guess you got to have a tag there?
Yeah! We need a headlight, taillight, horn and mirror and pretty much anything can be street legal haha. I'm looking to legalize a Banshee soon 👍
