- Hi Folks,
Here's a look at the rather unorthodox Keyboard/ Radio Cassette Recorder from Casio. It's a very rare beast, and looks to be in very poor condition - and it was missing a speaker (wait 'til the end)! It definitely requires attention!
In this video, I make a quick appraisal of the unit ahead of getting ready to fix it up.

What a great little upload, I am really looking forward to seeing the restoration upload and hopefully hearing you 'lay down some tracks' .... thanks for sharing and a great spot!
Thanks very much for watching. I think his will be a project in various stages. Little and often. Has to be worth a try to getting going. It would be ace to get some toons on it! 😁👍
So many appraisals, so little time to repair them all! 😓
I think the principle of trying to keep vintage electronics out of landfill and giving them a second life is one of the most important parts of this video series. 😎
WOW-looking forward the restoration of this machine !!!
Thanks for watching. Stay tuned!
You are one of the best I have ever seen. But sir I think that this one is no way coming back.
😂I fear you may be right! But it's got to be worth a try, right?! 😃👍
The Casio looks way cool and could be a hoot to play around with once fully functional. The LoFi vibes are off the charts.
Yes, I reckon it could be a lot of fun. Just need to get it working now 😬😃. Thanks for watching 👍
so dirty i thought this was one of the fake restoration videos where they take stuff from the road 😂, subscribed
I know what you mean. I can't stand those 'dug out of a riverbank' videos! Hopefully you'll see this is legit - check out my library. Thanks for the sub 😃👍
Speaking of fake restorations, the way some of those Asian channels "restore" vintage electronic items after they have pretended to find them in an old riverbed, is to strip them down, wash everything with a garden hose, hang the pieces out to dry in the sun, put it all back together then spray paint it a bright colour which is nothing like the original finish. Part of any authentic or worthwhile restoration is to preserve some "originality". Talk about a cringe-fest!
I wish I could meet a bird that filthy
😁👍
Looking an the original ebay listing it seems like the speaker cable for the missing speaker should have been included.
Well spotted! I've asked the seller - hopefully it will surface! Cheers
neat stuff
Thanks for watching 👍
This might need a little bit of a clean. There's a few specs of dirt on it. I hope you can get this working.
I think you might be right! A bit of a project, this one. Should be a giggle though 👍
Looks like that boombox was stored laying on its back in a shed/warehouse/garage for it to be ‘that’ dirty
I think so. And a fair bit of corrosion to. This is literally the dirtiest machine I've ever seen in person - hopefully it can be improved!
In my collection I used to have a ghetto blaster made by silver, with a built-in little keyboard. I sold it on eBay years ago though as the keyboard was so gimmicky and sounded very Naff.
That might be the model I have. I'm not expecting great things, but it will be fun to at least investigate and document it 😊
I admire your unbridled enthusiasm ... but, forget it! ... anything electronic suffering severe damp will be ruined beyond repair.
I'll take that as a challenge 👍😁
subbed!
Thanks muchly! 👍
