I've got a silver black model. Love it. Though I would say you can all too easily hit the rev limiter, and if you push it, the bike will get a bit out of shape. Mind you both are from pushing the bike. For some good mostly legal fun, you can't go past the speed twin. And compliments. Lots of those. Love the exhaust note. Cheers from Southern Ontario, Canada.
Just picked up a 2021. I absolutely love riding this bike. I also have a 2018 Bobber Black and it cannot hold a candle to the ST fun factor. The torque is ridiculous and has unbelievable handling. I purchased for the bench seat so my woman can ride with. She loves it. Currently stripping it down to give it a street fighter look. Be safe Brother!
What I like is that the Speed Twin is intrinsically simple. Motor, bars, tires and seat, BING, that’s all I need A “less is more” approach is very attractive to me as a rider.
Very good review, thank you, I think this is the best brand new out of box modern retro bike in the market, it looks aggressive, sporty, powerful engine, high Torque, top quality parts. love the portions, the Gas tank being taller and sloped gives it the modern sporty look, which most other retro bikes are missing. You are sitting in the bike and not not it. Forward sitting position, sporty handlebar( not too wide not too high). All these makes it fantastic bike.
Hi, I do have a Speed Twin since August 2020 and now need to change the rear tyre.I'm 1.87m tall with a longer torso and the seating position has been painfull for me, especially on longer tours. I then fitted the Thruxton footrest and handlebar riser and, in combination with the Tamarit saddle, finally found a riding position that I know I'll be riding a lot of kilometres this year. Otherwise, I completely agree with all the other statements made in the video.A really good bike that reveals its experience in sound and power delivery. Beautiful, a real pleasure.
@@hamidking78 Hi I did 6000 km + in that time. The tire is ready for replacement ;) I first thought to change to a different model but the grip is so phenomenal that I simply trust the Triumphs people´s choice. You do have to be careful though when starting in low temperatures, at least for the first 10km.
Did you get the Tamarit Suzuka saddle with the rear cowl? I bought one for my Speed Twin as well before they were released and it arrived in decent order, but it wobbles a lot as they don't use the middle contact points like the factory pillion seat does. Did this happen with yours too? If so, how did you fix it?
@@SolarisDeath I just drove it for maybe 300km - 400km. It did wobble once when I got of the saddle to do a gas refill, but a firm press on the cowl solved the problem. It was a new fit, so I did not look further into it and when checking at a later time it was still firmly fixed. I will have a look at it and tell you later. Yes it is the Suzuka saddle.
That last few seconds of your ride brought me forward and the video ended, you should have given us a little bit longer ride and exhaust note without any commentary...Nice!
A really well thought out and delivered video, Eddie. As usual, your commentary is rich in interesting details, as you whizz around the Notts/Leics lanes. I think you've encapsulated the essence of just what the Speed Twin is all about.
Everyone seems to get a hard on for short little loud exhausts? I did buy a British Customs competition x-pipe for my '22 Speed Twin(Storm Grey), but otherwise just gonna pull the baffles out of the mufflers and gut the rear cats. Just picked up some D.E.I. black exhaust wrap with thier black silicone spray to keep all that heat moving out the pipes and away from my legs and the engine. I shortened the air box inlet boot for better flow and will be going through the idle/tune procedure to reset the ECU parameters. The Ducati Spacers for the throttle freeplay and going up one tooth on the front sprocket are great cheap mods I've done. Had to get a Puig "Vision" windscreen in black/dark smoke and Hepco & Becker crash bars in black. Biggest add on cost has been the Ktec Razor iii shocks sprung for my weight. With the foam Grip Puppies that slide over the stock grips I should really feel a difference out on the Montana highways!
I love my Speedy for many of the things you describe. The only thing I would disagree with is with the quality of the finish. I’ve had mine for about a year 13,000 miles - which is quite a lot of use admittedly. However quite a few of the brushed metal parts are becoming tarnished and the paint is beginning to flake on the engine/gearbox cover due to corrosion. I’ve owned quite a few bikes and this has not fared well through the winter compared to others.
6: Sound is even better with Motone x-pipe and fuel consumption goes down by 10 percent 5: look: you’re absolutely right, maybe add a Dart flyscreen 4: quality: no room for improvement 3: riding position: just perfect indeed 2: planted: indeed very good. Great review! I'll be in the market for a new bike in about 5 months after riding a Sportster for 23 years. The T-120, SpeedTwin and Speedmaster are all on my radar, and being that I can still have a bit of hooliganism left at my age, the SpeedTwin just might do it for me! This is actually the WORST part of buying a new motorcycle because I keep my bikes for a VERY long time. I like them all and can't decide!
It's so great to see a bike review on roads that I know and ride myself (having lived around Collingham, Stubton, Long Bennington, Caythorpe, etc). Really, really warming to this bike, thanks to your enthusiasm and others! Can't wait for test rides to start again. If that's a demo from Webbs then I might get to ride the exact same one!
Looks fantastic. I have a Z1000SX, but seriously contemplating a Triumph as my next bike. Was looking at the Speed Triple RS. However I love the classic look!
@@EddieSetGo One thing I cam say with my Z1000SX, already getting the usual pitting/tarnishing of fittings etc. Which is a shame, think I'd need to go test ride this. Wonder what the options are on PCP.😆
Bought one in red last September, great city bike and I like it a lot. I already put on the TEC 2>1 Raider exhaust which makes it feel more like the hooligan bike it should be, it's excellent and didn't take me long to install. Unfortunately I have almost 2000 miles and 3rd gear is slipping under hard throttle, and I don't have a dealership near me right now to drop it off for a fix.
hi There, Great Video, everything you say is what I've experienced in my short ownership of My speed twin. I bought a demo model so its run in and that's good ie no limits on giving it a bit of throttle. I owned two Triumphs over the past few years. first the Thruxton 900 , great bike and fun to ride and then I traded for a Thruxton R , awesome bike which I loved very much.... But at my age the speed twin in really the right bike for me... Thanks for the video .. just cornfirms I have made the right choice... Keep safe..
Thank you for commenting, Robert and for your feedback! Delighted to hear you have found the a bike that brings the best of the Thruxtons to a more neutral riding experience. Ride safe :)

@Robert Holloway... what age are you (if you don't mind the question)? and Why. do you feel like the age you are? any phisical restriction (I am 47 and already have my right knee stoping me from kicking on my W650)... I am looking for my next bike and divided between a thruxR and the speed twin. Knowing that the thruxs is even better equiped (and more expensive) it would be great to hear from someone with ownership experience on both bikes.
Great video , thinking of buying one, I am 100kg , and 6,3 feet tall. Will i be comfortable on this bike, and what about a pillion , a small woman 55kg .
Hey Warren. Thank you! I think you'll be comfortable on the Speed. It's a solid machine where as the Street Twin has a lower seat height and maybe would be tiresome on your knees at 6,3". Yeah the Speed should be fine... and the pillion seat is usable!
Really considering one of these or the z900rs. Which would you say is better. Great vid. Thanks. Just sold my mt09 but fancy something more retro this time.
Hey thanks buddy! It’s a tough choice between the Speed and the Z900rs. I personally love the Z900rs’s 4-cylinder engine… the awesome sound it makes… it feels playful and is super comfy. 🏍
It hasn't bothered me one bit. On the highway I'll get 230 km out of the tank. I've had worse, I've had better. Don't let that stop you from enjoying the bike.
Hi, I (in Japan) am considering purchasing this bike. Have you tried long trips on it? I mean 100-200 miles for example. I want to know how dose it feel when riding long distances in terms of vibration, riding-position, seat comfort and wind. Thanks.
Hi Ringo! The bike is more comfortable than you would imagine. After spending 2 hours in cold wet conditions, the only comfort issue I had was my ankles. I'm 5'8" tall. My toes usually sit on the pegs, so after a couple of hours they felt slightly cramped and I had to move them around a bit - let the heels rest on the peg to stretch my ankles. That was the only comfort issue I had. The seat is fine and vibrations minimal. I would recommend a screen for long rides and heated grips if it's cold! :) You can watch my first-ride video here for more feedback: ruclips.net/video/jYlhSpaaObU/видео.html
I've got a Dart Marllin screen on my Speed Twin and it certainly makes a difference, my only gripes are the footpeg position and the sidestand needing a longer foot lever.
it's a very comfortable bike, a lot more so than the thruxton and the bmw r9t racer. I've ridden 130 miles at a time and was perfectly comfortable in it.
I have completed a few 200+ mile rides on my Speed Twin. For me (5’10”) the riding position is perfect but i do find the seat comfort deteriorates on rides lasting more than 1.5 hours. I am looking into aftermarket seat options to improve comfort (but without compromising the visual appeal of the bike). Otherwise, i love this bike.
