Buffet didn’t add to Apple, Bank of America, Citigroup, Diageo, HP, and Markel this quarter , they explained this in a press release on Monday, it is also written into their 13F
I never seen Pabrai publish his record. I managed to have a glance at one of his reports and his funds had compounded at 10 to 12% . I wanted to find out what fees he charges but couldn’t find it.
Diageo's business model over the past 20 years has been to acquire premium spirits and liquor makers from around the world and market and grow their brands globally. They have been very successful, have high margins, steady growth, and are fairly well known as a quality investment in Europe. I first heard about them through the book "Quality Investing: Owning the best companies for the long term" by Cunningham. He mentioned them as an example of a high quality company in the liquor industry with a great track record.
Likelihood of stocks Li Lu owns(According to certain sources in China): Tencent, Pingan Insurance, China Yangtze Power, Bank of Ningbo, Anhui Conch Cement
When both Li Lu & Buffett adds Bank of America, cut in half from ATH and at lowest side of PE range, it's kind of a nobrainer. Probably fell due to regional Banks turmoil which BAC stand to benefit from. Its probably a 1x in 12 - 18 months.
Diageo own johnny walker and guinness, I think its one of Tom Gaynor’s largest positions within markel. Guiness has a very similar model to Coca-Cola with their syrup
@@tombrady4977 I managed to see a copy of Guy Spears last annual report for his Aquamarine fund and it shows that after fees his return to investors is 8.7% since the fund inception which was 1997. Although it has beaten the S&P 500 it seems in the last 20 years it hasn’t. I wonder if he has high fees because that 8.7% doesn’t seem that inspiring. Okay at the end of 2021 before the drawdown of 2022 the aquamarine fund compounded at 10.1% since inception, so better.
Tom thanks for the great video…I couldn’t find the 13F for EWBC on their IR website or Edgar database but whalewisdom shows Himalaya taking the position as you show in video…what am I doing wrong in my search?
A very unpopular opinion here... but the more I follow Pabrai, the more I just look at him as a writer and perhaps a teacher but not some sort of great investor to follow. That could be said of some of the other alleged superinvestors in this video. As I said, a very unpopular opinion. Hate mail welcome! For me, Munger, Buffet, Klarman, Ackman, Druckenmiller would be on my list.

Thanks - I'd missed that news! Will pin this comment. Link for anyone interested in learning more: berkshirehathaway.com/news/may1523.pdf
Why don't you have the UK's Terry Smith on your summary? Way ahead of Pabrai and manages 20 billion!
Good idea! One more vote for Terry!

What were the key take aways of that book?

Glad to see that my 13F isn't on here. My First Republic Bank investment is slightly down.
RIP
Tom, add Terry Smith! Great work, as usual. Cheers
VTS is a spinoff from Berkshire's stake in Jefferies.
Great summary - thanks Tom!

Buffett didn’t add to BAC
Yes, he added 2,25% to BAC.
@@ImACloner no he didn’t, they explained this in a press release on Monday and in a statement in the 13F
Luke is correct. It seems those were holdings from Gen Re, that are bow reported in Berkshire's 13F
Oh really, where do you find it? And how did the position change then?
Diageo is a diversified alcoholic beverage company. They own many brands - I've been following their business and stock for years.
Diageo own johnny walker and guinness, I think its one of Tom Gaynor’s largest positions within markel. Guiness has a very similar model to Coca-Cola with their syrup
Does anyone know what Pabrai and Guy Spears investing record are? Is Pabrai compounding at 20% a year ?
Haha Pabrai! 😂 20% that’s pure comedy gold!

I like how you bring in a surprise investor who is not one of your usual suspects, at tte end of the video! ❤
VTS was a spin-off from Jefferies Financial, which Berkshire has owned for a few quarters.
What about Phil town ?
anybody know why multiple parties are selling large chunks of MU Micron ?
Tom, what is this site that you are finding their international filings?
Li Lu selling 40% of Micron, and adding to BAC. And lots of rational investors adding to Alphabet.
The noise around Google being squashed by AI bla bla bla felt so over done didn't it.

Companies don't list 13f's, investors do. Is that what you mean?
@@InvestingwithTom Oh duh...good point, thanks Tom!
Diageo - you definitely know Johnnie Walker
What big moves did you notice this 13f season?
Li Lu and Mohnish trimming micron… why?

Same. He seems wishy washy and just seems to have access to Li Lu, Buffett, and Munger but doesn't seem to have that good of a track record
How'd you find the total AUM for Li Lu's fund?
It's listed on Whale wisdom. I believe that info gets filed with the SEC each quarter
@@InvestingwithTom ah wow very helpful 🙏
