Monish’s portfolio was the biggest surprise for me as well. I did a little bit of digging over the weekend and I think both AMR and CEIX may be longer term plays for him than we think. They’re both debt free and I believe it may be a bet on aggressive share buybacks, coal power plant development/growth in India, India cement export growth (requires coal), and steel production growth. CEIX is the lowest cost thermal coal exporter so even during a downtown in coal prices there’s some margin of safety. Still researching AMR but would be curious on others opinions of these two companies.
I have no idea whether Pabrai’s recent trades will achieve favorable results. But I take issue with him being seen as the heir to Charlie Munger’s philosophy. He is anything but
Micron is very a capital-intensive business and does not have a large moat. I'm not surprised Mohnish and Li Lu sold out. I hope someone asks Mohnish (in his podcast) why he invested in MU in the first place. Good to see Guy and Li hold large positions in Berkshire. BRK.B is about 20% of my portfolio. It was never intended to be. It's just grown a lot over the past 12 years - especially due to the rise of the USD and fall of the AUD.
Mohnish has explained it. The memory business has consolidated, the technology does not advance as drastically as computational hardware, and the current big players cooperate by announcing details on what they're doing.
Prabrai by his own admission is a cloner and a “hacker”. His selfies of Charlie Munger are frankly distasteful. The investments he has made since I followed him have been a complete disaster. Seritage, Horsehead and Baba. On Baba, unlike Munger, Prabrai sold his shares when it crashed. The opposite of any good investor .
What were some of your highlights this 13f season?

What @ibreakkidslegs said and he expected the big three to begin working as oligarchy. But Samsung didn't play along.
Yes, he expected a cyclical businesses to be no longer cyclical and he was wrong.

You are a master of none
@@alverzenongkhlaw5688 Perhaps, but I don't claim to be a guru.

Who is the second investor who Charlie Munger has given money to to invest on his behalf? Li Lu being the first.
Would have been interesting to hear more of your thoughts on bigger changes and their investment thesis.
What is the link to Tom's Twitter account?
So far I have seen two imposters.
Who is the other fund manager that Charlie Munger uses for his investments?
Charles Jennings in Australia
