Being loving, forgiving and kind is awesome, but the sad reality is that "Sometimes you need to knock some people out"
    1) to protect others.
    2) to make them less likely to do it to someone else in the future.
    3) to stop being seriously damaged.
    4) because it is the only way some people learn.
    5) It is the most loving thing to do.

As to the chop to the side of the neck, I would use a hammerfist blow. Chops are a bit tough unless your hand is toughened up. The easiest blow I think would be the palm strike to the chin. The last technique seems the most difficult. In the end, executing any fighting technique can be much harder than it looks. The best fight is no fight at all. I am 64 and I have accomplished that.

18 years old and I agree, I've been in several fights and it is _not_ fun, no matter how well you do, or how badass you think you look, it is dangerous both physically and legally, if you can deescalate the situation and end with physical contact, _do it._ the one and only time you _should_ fight (excluding sport fighting i.e boxing) is when absolutely necessary. Words to live by: _"you are not John Wick, use your words."_

    • @TheEudaemonicPlague
      @TheEudaemonicPlague 3 года назад +11

True enough, but, if you use the side of the heel of your hand (the end of the bone you're trying not to break), you have the advantage of focusing the energy of the blow into a small area. It requires a little more accuracy, but I think you'd be delivering a more solid impact. I agree with him about getting it over with quickly...the longer you're in a fight, the more opportunities your opponent has to injure you.
At 62, I've also found avoiding fights to be the best solution. As long as you remain calm, it's usually not terribly difficult to get the other guy to calm down--most people are only trying to intimidate you, so don't let them.

Lol as as a 23 year veteran of U.S marine I bet you don't even engage in close combat much. All you Marines do is train your body.
That karate chop? Even if you somehow hit me faster than me hitting you with a body shot, it'll need to be twice that you land the chop in order to knock me out.
I won't ask for much but all I need is two body shots and one uppercut to take you down. Right hook, left hook, uppercut then either you'll be too dazed to fight or I'll lose but if I continue the fight then you are D O N E fucked.

Orlando, you seem like a really good guy. The most effective weapon you have in your job is located between your ears. If you do have to get physical because of your job, please, do not try to karate chop someone in the neck/shoulder because the most likely thing to break will be your hand! If you ever have to strike someone do so with a closed fist, there is a reason why professional fighters fight and punch with a closed fist, it works! I’ve literally seen hundreds of “ real fights”, and not once have I ever seen someone knocked unconscious with a karate chop, or with a bitch slap (open handed strike) for that matter. If you want to learn how to knock someone out spend less time on you tube and more time at your local boxing gym. There really are no shortcuts brother, and take that from someone who has learned the hard way. I wish you the best my friend

Werner T - Learn not to Telegraph your action... 99.9% of all fights start with the “requisite” pre-fight verbal “threats” of “keep talking and Ima blah blah blah” with hopes of not having to fight. As soon as I think I’m in for a fight and that chatter starts, the fight is over. Surprise, speed and overwhelming force to critical points on my opponents body. No such thing as a fair fight, no reason to talk about it don’t be afraid to strike first. If you can walk away without fighting, and be called a wimp, punk or whatever, so what, they are words, walk away from a conflict. I ain’t got nothing to prove to anyone. But if I’m put into a corner, so be it. I’m not in a boxing ring or on a playground in school where there are rules. One rule is the only rule, be the person to end the fight before the opponent gets the first strike in and take them out by whatever means necessary. That is what we are taught in the military.

The simplest moves are the most effective. Regaring the first an second techniques employed, wearing body colored lead-lined gloved will help you greatly. Gloves padded on the inside, with the lead lining on the outside covered by body colored tear resistant fabric. So your opponent won't even know if you have it on. Not sure where you can purchase it ready made, usually it is a custom job. And on your feet, steel toed work booths can do wonders.

There is a place where the jaw attaches to the skull, just below the ear, it is called the gaglia. There are a group of nerves there. Touch the spot with your finger and you will find it. If you hit someone on the chin just right it forces the jawbone into the gaglia and will knock them out cold. In boxing it is called " hitting them on the button". It is also a good place for a palm strike.

But we were taught to use force only as a last resort, which you may decide is the right course of action in a split second. But, we were taught, if possible, try to de-escalate the matter or run if possible, cuz Bam!, you knock out the first guy and his two friend pull out knives or worse. What then? So, yeah, if your back is against the wall use everything you got, but if you can de-escalate the tension, do it, or if you're in an open enough space run way instead, eat the humble pie, and live to fight another day.

Love it! I was a bouncer 20 + years ago ; this is post is kind of like a trip down memory lane. Most of the guys I worked with were American football players or wrestlers and great guys to work with. I (at that time ) was primarily Judo, boxing, tui shou and some traditional Okinawan and Japanese arts- since then I have expanded into multiple systems, e.g. MMA, Catch, Muy Thai, BJJ. Military, etc. Although I would never want to bounce again, (I'm too old and and I saw too many depressing things) I do count it as truly invaluable experience. Thank you for the video, "brother in arms"; - practical and real.

What's missing from this very good video is the psychology of an encounter. If your job is to save yourself, run. If your job is to save someone else, try to avoid a fight at all costs. If you must fight, be very aggressive, overwhelming and come as a surprise. Don't threaten with words, don't posture, don't telegraph readiness with body language. Once you feel that talking won't do, strike with extreme violence and surprise.

  • @twistedape1657

You're absolutely right about having to fight sometimes but the truth is that we shouldn't. I've been training for quite some time now but afraid of the damage it may or will cause, so i would rather just walk away...unless it involves my kids then that's a whole new different subject.

Beautiful stuff. Great work Azu and Ondrej. The only thing I would mention is that some of these techniques may not just knock the person out cold, but may even result in a fatality, and so such measures should only be taken if one legitimately fears that one's life is in danger. That said, I always appreciate your dedication and commitment to helping others out. God Bless.

Well done. And yes absolutely sometimes you need to deal with someone decisively. Hopefully you never need to know this stuff. But if you do - the first two are really simple. I would recommend practicing on a heavy bag, or even in the air, shadow boxing, visualizing doing the strikes is a very effective way to train and much better than no training. GREAT video, thanks.

This "instructional" was a joke, and really it was only produced so he could tell his story about knocking a guy out, which he's probably told at every bar he's ever been to, and finally decided to take it to the big leagues.
Punchers are rarely effective unless they sucker punch, or are up against another striker. A good wrestler will dismantle just about any good striker's attack or defense.
The best thing you can do if you are truly in danger is to scream, claw, eye gouge, head butt and bite. Hope that helps
