    Asahi Optical Co. (Pentax) 50mm F1.4 lens.
    VS.
    Yashica Auto Yashinon-DX 50mm F1.4 lens.
    In this episode of Stupid Lens Experiment, we comparison of the two above lenses. Both are in excellent condition with no fungus or haze.
    Please note that although the two lenses are in excellent conditions, other variables such as factory quality control plays a large part in the outcome. Some copies of each lens, may be optically better or worse than others.

    Yes, the Yashinon-DX does not use Thoriated glass, but the DS version does use it. Also, all 4 versions of the Takumar f1.4 are radioactive. The original Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 8 element version, the next one was the 7 element, Super-Takumar 50/f1.4, then came the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50/f1.4 that is probably the most radioactive of the four and lastly came the S-M-C Takumar 50/f1.4.

    Great video.
    I recently good a Yashinon dx with focusing is off to where infinity is at 1.2m but it also allows for infinity on Nikon cameras.

      It sounds like the lens has been modified for use on Nikon bodies.

    My Yashinon 50mm 1.4 DS is definitely radioactive.

    Takumar was noticeably sharper.
