I had a tank raised clown, and it ignored the anemone. I taped a photo of a clownfish in an anemone and within a couple of days the clown found the anemone. after that it was true love!!! lol
It was tank raised, and had never seen an anemone. The store I bought it from told me that. Clown fish had been in the tank with the anemone for two months and found the anemone 2 days later.
4:57 I won't buy fish for my set up, my goal is to have an "exhibit" of the wildlife that live in my area, but this I can tell will be very much a learning experience for me
Thank you so much, I didn't know they split themselves and it happened 2 weeks ago. Since than they lost a bit of there colour and move a lot. I hope they recover from this cloning. You present well and it was very interesting, as I am from Europe I needed to check the different measures. Maybe you can add ours too next time (celcius/liters/...). Keep on going the great job, following you!
Started off with one red Rose bubble tip now have three pain in the bum one of them always moving about my clownfish love them always laying eggs had them about 4 years now very easy to keep if you ask me p.s. what are your lights above the tank then 5 would like to know please they look like marzzers
I wish I had done my research on anemones prior to establishing my system. I would love to add a rose bubble tip, but I don’t want it rolling around and stinging my corals
I’m sure you will be just fine with an anemone. They don’t just take off at imaging stuff. They rarely move as it is. The only reason they move is to adjust to light or trying to get a better place for food sometimes to get in a higher flow area or move away from a high flow area. That or they are getting too much light or the lights are on too long so they go hide normally right under the rock they where on. That or they will go hide in shade upside down when water isn’t good or they are doing poorly. Either way they don’t just go stinging coral. Besides they don’t sting long enough to actually hurt the coral.
How about anemones of different species? Can you keep more than one color type or morph of bubble tips? How about adding in and mixing long tentacled? Rock anemones?
Our 10 year anemone became distressed and floated around tank for 5 days. We changed the water and found the sand where the anemone was living very dirty so we stirred up the sand and did a water change. Also, we had purchased a new lighting system for the tank and the growth on the glass and particles in the water were unmanagable. We took out the anemone and placed him in a 10 gallon tank with minimal lighting and clean water. The anemone looks much healthier in the 10 gallon tank. Which leads us to wonder if the water quality and lighting were a problem. We want to know how to fix our water quality and dial in the appropriate lighting. Can you help? Thankyou, Sue
Anemone's don't carry parasites, so a very short quarantine is required. A coral rinse would be good, followed by regular acclimation. 6 month old reef tank minimum age
Can you give me tips im just new in saltwater tank and i have a sea anemone but my anemone gut stucked in pump my set up of filtration is overhead sump pls give me tips to prevent this again
What anemone goes along with fish clown and shrimp you are showing in your video. What kind od food should i feed the shrimp, clown fish and anemones..how much is the price range for a anemone and what size will be? What other salt water fish can get along with anemone, the shrimp and clown fish
Hi Joanne! The Anemones pictured in this video are rose bubble tips. There are many different varieties of food that can be used to feed the anemones, shrimp, and clownfish. Most reef safe fish that are compatible with the size of aquarium you are keeping can be kept with an anemone.
I have two bubbletip anemones with two clowns my only concern is one of the largest anemones has found its home in a cave so I really do not see it but it seems happy and as lived there for two months one of my clowns is looking after it but since I put the anemones in the clowns turned very territorial and nips at me all the time ..great video by the way 👍👍👍
i always wonder what if i want to set up an almost anemone/clownfish only tank!?! how it can mature, when there is nothing in there, because i dont like too much other stuff to be in it? i wont add the clowns before the anemones hence it will release stress among them, if there are enough anemones in to host when they settle in. i am not sure if a clean up crew is enough to make a proper maturing tank, hence nutrient import is way below the future levels... almost like the chicken or egg riddle
You can put a wide range of anemones in a 150 gallon tank and it can look absolutely awesome. Something to consider is that nems usually do best when added into mature and fully cycled systems so, you may want to get your tank up and running for a bit before jumping right in.
@@BulkReefSupply Thanks for reply! I don't mind the wait, I also have a nano 30 gallon was hoping might give me a little jump start, and another 80lbs of rock in a brute 55 I'm using as a sump... lol but yeah patience will win the day
I have 2 bta, pink and sunburst. They hide under a rock and they totally bleeched. All white.Changed my rocks to they cant hide.Collor comes back and they looked amazing andbubbly.Afther a while they turned brown and i dont know why.Water parameters are good and light is good also.I am stuck
i just got mine yesterday and it’s moving around the tank slowly. Seemed like this morning it was attached to my live rock but once i turned my lights back on it unattached and is a bit smaller than this morning. Should I leave it be for a few days before i try to feed it?
Ryan Draper Thanks for the reply! It attached later in the day and now has been for awhile now. I was able to feed it today. Took the shrimp right away.
I know this video is a few years old but from most standpoints covering a heating element makes it extremely inefficient unless that covering is the intended media to be heated like in 3d printer's nozzle or ceramic heaters as well as other applications industrial or otherwise. I saw a 75% power increase with a covered Eheim JAGER 125w in a 40-gal breeder with it being on almost triple the time and the tank slowly decreasing in temperature. This method can work but with the example given it can be a huge detriment to both your heater and your tank. something that can more easily flow around the glass or actual heater to let the thermodynamics of the heater do its job but still stop anything touching it. I found screen mesh for replacing screen doors work really well and it can help with heat distribution because its a metal vs an isolating plastic. I wouldn't use anything painted. Mostly aluminum, stainless, or titanium are the best for any salt water application same rule would apply for any metal equipment neat salt water.
they are sold with plastic cases many times, I think people grasp the basics and he specifically said 'appropriate" :) And it cant have a 75% power increase can it? It can have a 75% increase in energy consumption but not create power
For reef tanks (anemones included), we usually suggest a 1:8:1 lighting schedule. That's 1 hour of ramp up time, 8 hours of steady intensity, then 1 hour of ramp down. Different anemones need different amounts of light to thrive, but for the most popular types such as bubble tip anemones, medium light (somewhere around 150-250 PAR) is a great place to start. The anemones will move around a bit to find their ideal spot, so don't stress over it too much. ruclips.net/video/QE_wf7lYESo/видео.html
Lol. I went tide pooling today, messing around with my hands in the water. Touched a pink tip condylactis because you can poke the green anemones and nothing hapoens. Do NOT touch a condy. Still hurts
I bought a green bubble tip anemone about 4 weeks ago. It looked great and the bubbles were plump. After introducing it to the tank, seemed to hide from the lighting, and move from high up to low in the tank. I check the water all the time and it is perfect. All I have is two clowns, live rock, no corals. Some clams, snails (that reproduce), crabs and a little bit of aiptasia. The bubble tip split 2 weeks ago. Now both hide, barely exposed to any light and the bubbles are still bright green, but are shrunk and all is compact and small. I heard I should not feed it for a while and let it chill out, since it is new to the tank. What do I do?
Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only one who noticed this, lol 😂 I mean this is a very helpful and thorough video, but come one dude, pronounce it right. I'm surprised that whoever edited this video didn't catch it because he says it many times and pronounces it wrong every single time, lol.

It most likely bleached due to receiving too much light, too little light, or your water chemistry is off. We recommend doing a full set of water tests in order to rule that out first.

I never would have thought about one stinging cell organism being aware of another unless it was direct contact.
Even on the freshwater side, aquatic plants can try to kill other plants on the other side of the tank. In plants they call it allelopathy.
