Adam acts really goofy and sometimes deliberately stupid on the Mythbusters TV show, but watching a few of these "1 day Adam Builds" episodes, it's really clear that Adam is VERY intelligent, calculating, skilled, and even artistic. you get to see a side of Adam here that you don't really get to see in his show.
i don't know about anyone else, but i just thought it's pretty cool to see Adam in his natural working environment doing things he loves to do, where he really shines and acts like himself.
This might be an act for the show or just the dynamic between Adam and Jamie. I often goof around with my buddies, a behaviour I usually don't engage in. Still Adam is a fun man and his goofing around in MB takes nothing away from his great skills. I never had any doubts he is smart. Anyone who worked in a lab populated by PhDs knows how crazy it might get around smart people :)

Can't believe I only just found this channel! I love Adam's enthusiasm. We're obsessed by the same things, and deal with it in similar ways.
Always a pleasure to see his builds and watch him work (makes me feel better about working fast and sloppy too.. although he's had more practice :) ).

It was cool to hear him just talk about the costume and not about Myth Busters. I half expected him to start talking about how they were going to test it, to see if it could survive all of the things that happen to it in Iron Man. He just seems like a very cool down to Earth guy. It would be awesome to hang out with him and talk about geeky things, like what to use when building stuff.

I know how Adam feels. In addition to whatever other project I wear to a con, I also go as Rorschach. It's the cheapest, easiest costume I've ever thrown together but every year, without fail, it ALWAYS gathers the most crowds.
Norm, you should probably let Adam do a majority of the talking.
I would give ANYTHING to be friends with Adam Savage and get to make stuff with him and have him as a reference and help since I'm constantly trying to make things and am just as passionate about a vast array of subjects just like him.
I have said it 1000 times Adam Savage has the greatest job in the entire universe hands-down drop 🎤 microphone.
Once at a smaller Con, the person who performed before me had a Tony Stark cosplay and a mannequin. I had no idea what he was doing until he got onstage, when the "Where's my super suit!?" bit started playing 😂. He acted along to it and lip synced well.

The costumes are cool but isn't he just buying what other people built? would preferred if he built them himself from scratch

He builds a lot from scratch,but time is his enemy.So sometimes he has to cut corners & put his time into perfecting things he hasn't the time to take from the drawing board into production...He's an incredible artistic engineer.It would be good though to see embark on a life time project of breath taking excellence...

Plus he's probably one of Norm's "idols," which could also make him a little awkward. (I also noticed some hand wringing, which tends to make people look uncomfortable.)

A little minor detail that he missed: The bullet dents probably shouldn't be dark grey. I think in reality they would be shinny silver since when the bullets hit the metal it would remove all the surface dirt, soot, and tarnish.
Idea: another project for this suite, I suggest using some sort of micro controller with sensors that emits the "clang" sounds every time you take a step. Would make for great fun acting out the heavy step walking movement with the sound effects that could go with it. (Love the builds!)

I live south of San Francisco, in a town called Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz mountains. I'm a huge nerd and fan of Mythbusters, and I totally dig on Adam's dork vibe.
Anyway, I was at the gas station in town, and parked at the pump across from a gray Fiat 500... and Adam came out of the station and got in.
As he headed towards his car, I probably had the "dumbstruck fanboy face" going on. He looked straight at me, and then sped off... he also ran the stop sign on his way out of town.
yep :) you can find pictures of him pretty easily. It's one of his favorite costumes.

Actually, the Obadiah guy said "Icing problem?" in iron man 1 as a reply to tony saying "How did you fix the icing problem" when they were flying way above Earth in the 2 suits.

Wow, Adam is more of a nerd than I realized.....but man he does some cool stuff.
He's a "hands-on" nerd. He doesn't just sit in front of a computer and play D & D. He can build a rocket, pull an engine out of a car, use guns, and blow up anything.
I agree. I'm more hands on too. I'm going to piss allot of people off but I don't like D&D. The only game I play frequently is madden 15 and battlefield 4.
king trow I only played D&D once and wasn't too into it. I used to play video games like BF but I lost interest in gaming 3 years ago. I saw Adam give a speech once at a science convention at The Los Angeles Convention Center. I didn't get to meet him but he made sure I got a copy of a Mythbusters dvd.
Adam's costumes are great and I would love to see more of them but having a engineers mind-set, seeing more projects like Jamie's outboard would be awesome too. Keep up the good work. :-)
