Sure, if maintained these will likely keep going. But all planes have fatal flaws. The only reason Boeings are so safe is because these flaws get publically recognized and subsequently fixed.

I wish I was born a couple decades earlier so I could take some time to fly retro planes before they get retired. Unfortunately older planes are getting retired due to COVID.
These old Soviet engines noisy but reliable, while the modern low-noise motors can get out of order at hit of volcanic dust, these old engines are less susceptible to dust.
Reliable? Actually the very contrary. Polish Airlines lost two planes and 260+ lives because of them. What is however outrageous about it, first Polish disaster happened in 1980, manufacturer did not corrected problems. Second (for the same reason) happened in 1987, yet again manufacturer actually denied the very existence of problems and did nothing. Third incident occurred in 1990 (again same reasons, thanks God happier end by pure luck), yet again manufacturer did nothing. Last known (to me) incident happened in 2008, which suggest manufacturer, despise full knowledge of critical life threatening deficiencies and huge loss of human life in past, actually NEVER corrected problems. Search RUclips for “flight 5055” video, as well “IL-62 el Santo Domingo” (aftermath of successful emergency landing by Cuban Airlines in 2008, after engine explosion). Polish Aviation Magazine published in 80-ties article in which there is summary made by Polish government commission regarding engine’s deficiencies. Besides what commission found to be the be direct cause of disaster (which is explained very well in mentioned video of flight 5055), commission found numerous other scandalous deficiencies in manufacturing process and quality control, including and not limited to: nonmetallic pollution in engine’s shaft material, lack of any kind of finish beside rough one, etc etc. Some Russians, might try to tell you Il-62 safety statistics match western counterpart’s planes of same era and that all disasters are currently known, even impossible to hide. You have to understand however they just tell you what they hear in their TV and there is no country (maybe beside North Korea) on the face of planet, where population is more brain washed by aggressive psychological warfare type anti-western propaganda. This is not true. Soviets were renowned for not admitting their disasters and incidents. No one till this day knows for sure how many IL-62 had crashed and how many people lost their lives in them. Seek western newspaper old article (as for instance fire of IL-62 in Boston USA), which no official (Russian or other) statistic even mentions. Same goes to mentioned 1990 incident.
FlyerKBOS I also may collect statistics about the American aircraft accidents, catastrophe Polish IL-62, does not count, it is peculiar Poles with poor maintenance. They even managed on TU-154, destroy their government in place with the President. On a wider scale this aircraft was operated in the USSR, with the small percentage of accidents, Ilyushin aircraft is a symbol of reliability, and those accidents were caused by humans and not planes.
***** "collect statistic about the American aircraft'? Have you even read my post? Why bother replying to something you not even reading? What point would have collecting American statistics if USSR's ones are falsified? What you want it to compare to? I happened to work on IL-62 in particular, in Polish Airlines for some years. Polish Airlines did not have facilities, expertise, but most important Russian permission (license) to service airplane's engines (which were cause of polish disasters), hence how could they have "poor maintenance"? Are you quoting some senseless Russian propaganda myths? How could they maintenance badly something they did not maintenance at all? Engines from planes were taken out in one piece, shipped to Russia (for maintenance and check up), from where they were coming back with certificates allowing it to be operated by such and such number of hours. If you interested in subject, search YT for "Black Serial, Kabaty" to find account of Polish side, how Russians really were trying to bully out and deny their fault in Polish disasters. For years, contrary to polish government commission findings, they were claiming engines destruction were result of plane crash not it cause, despise fact that part of engines were recovered over 200 km from a disaster site (over area where engines exploded and plane started to experiencing an emergency). They could not deny their fault any more, once 3 years after disasters identical plane managed to safely land after another yet engine explosion. Torn apart engine was simply constituting undeniable evidence. They could not say anymore its damage was result of crash, as plane never crashed. Polish TU-154 which crashed, is believed by large percentage of polish population to be result of an assassination plot, while by official Russian version it is result of pilot error. No poor maintenance were even ever alleged by anyone. Check your sources. Quote: "On a wider scale this aircraft was operated in the USSR, with the small percentage of accidents.." Entire point of end of my post is - what percentage of planes operated in USSR (but even in entire Warsaw Pact block, to some degree) had crashed or had incidents is unknown as provided by USSR (AND some Warsaw Pact countries at some times) statistics are falsified. Also Polish communist government, was trying to hide some disasters in early decades after WW2. Some time after Stalin death, USSR grip on Poland eased and in result this practice was eventually abandoned. If you really feel you know what you talking about, and the plane is safe, why not take a flight on it and post as video from it on YT? I know personally more than few pilots who flew it 20+ years and are scare of flying it. After working on it and knowing Russian practices, I'm scare of flying it, yet in reality, its hard to imagine any circumstance any of us would need to fly Il-62 ever again. Writing all this might be only out of regard of lives of people in countries which still operates the IL-62. But heck, maybe you're just better expert or hero than all of us! Believe what pleases you and happy flying!
FlyerKBOS You have written a lot of, I don't have time to argue with stubborn American. If you think you live in the most fair and democratic country in the world, you are deeply mistaken, you lied always, and not less than Councils. Although I'm not a big expert on aviation, but I must say that the reliability of Russian aircraft is not inferior to Western, and your examples of problems with the Il-62 just a trifle on the background of long-term operation of this aircraft. As for the Polish Tu-154, on Board was Kaczynski, explicit Russophobe and a falsifier of history by the case of Katyn, whether it was a terrorist attack do not know, God punished him.
***** Kaczynski - despise his deficiencies and controversies, recognized even in Poland, was not trying to falsify history about Katyn, to contrary, was trying not to allow it to be falsified by Putin, quite possibly, that's why he was murdered too. To remind, till Jelcyn, USSR and Russia was lying about its involvement there. Even Russia eventually admitted guilt, Putin, former KGB officer, (formerly know as NKVD - which did murdering in Katyn), denied NKVD officers should be treated as criminals or have even their veteran benefits taken away. This show where his real loyalties lay - to former NKVD butchers, his buddies. Showing his ugly face in Katyn with flowers, where he was bubbling hypocritically how bad communist was (as if he was not the core communist himself) and how terrible the crime was (while granting at the same time rewards to murders), was as much tactful, as visit of Gestapo officer in Auschwitz. Stubborn American? Maybe its not me who is stubborn American but you who are stubborn Ruskie? Which is the true?
ah yes, the good old ИЛ-62 ... remember having to take that plane on Moscow-Istanbul flights in mid-90s. engines were loud as shit, but even the engines couldnt cover the rattling sound inside the cabin ) but it wasnt much worse than Tu-134 / Tu-154. ugh

My dream WAS to fly on this but I see no chance anymore. At least I can try getting on a Fokker 50.
I wish I was born a couple decades earlier so I could take some time to fly retro planes before they get retired. Unfortunately older planes are getting retired due to COVID.
空姐的声音还真好听(看见没有汉语评论老子就忍不住来一句)
Thanks for the comment. Yes, the cabin crew are always very professional on Air Koryo.
Ian M - flymajj you got a great grasp of Chinese language,How many times have you been to China
Макс Лю Sorry, I used Google Translate! I have been to China about 6 times.
*****
"collect statistic about the American aircraft'?
As for the Polish Tu-154, on Board was Kaczynski, explicit Russophobe and a falsifier of history
by the case of Katyn, whether it was a terrorist attack do not know, God punished him.
*****
Kaczynski - despise his deficiencies and controversies, recognized even in Poland, was not trying to falsify history about Katyn, to contrary, was trying not to allow it to be falsified by Putin, quite possibly, that's why he was murdered too.
Nice short takeoff roll, not even one engine exploded
How did you get the Visa???????
Why is this engine screaming
I need a hearing test after listening to those screaming engines.
it that a new type of passeger plane beside boeing?
+Happy Tylerienmam Networks The Il-62 is around 50 years old. Not exactly new ;)
Marc Liljeqvist oh! i never heard of this plane lol! Just Boeing and Airbus And MD
ah yes, the good old ИЛ-62 ... remember having to take that plane on Moscow-Istanbul flights in mid-90s. engines were loud as shit, but even the engines couldnt cover the rattling sound inside the cabin ) but it wasnt much worse than Tu-134 / Tu-154. ugh
Georgi Zurabov i asume the 727 was louder than this old bird
The Rocket Brother PNW no actually
Air Koryo of North Korea can land any Russian Built Aircraft like the Ilyushin 62M as seen to any Airports Including Singapore.
Singapore Changi Airport Terminals Can handle these Aircraft.
Who needs Adele when you got four screaming machines behind the plane.
You can buy these you know about a 25 Year old ones for like 1.5 - 3 Million. Not bad compared to other aircraft..
Oh
My
God
Da quanto non vengono revisionati quei motori per avere quel rumore???
I’ve never liked engines that don’t buzz, especially ones this loud
I'm the absolute opposite.
What if there was a refanned version of the Soloviev D-30KU that's been slightly modified with the Pratt & Whitney JT3D's fan but with an increased diameter.
Yes, as per the description.
wait why was he flying to NK? lol
Miahil Kalashnikov North Korea has many holiday resorts, and they rely heavily on the money they get from tourism. They may not offer the best service, but they treat you well.
Marc Liljeqvist Always thought of visiting I hate how the media portrays them why cant we just let them grow naturally?
+Misha Lagovsky Are you kidding? The media portrays them as they are: an insane, brutal dictatorship with the worst elements of communism, fascism, and theocracy. They have all the viciousness of the Nazis with none of the competence.
Jason G. Clauss get mad
@@EminencePhront Sounds pretty much like the West now if you ask me. North Korea is just brainwashed, drug smuggling and a money laundering operation to keep the Wests fear going. (No where related to this video of course)
Its a mad world regardless of CULTural or POLYTICal standards.
