Incredible indeed, but I perhaps Bach would have been even more surprised. I think the composer/composers of the Hurrian Songs would probably experience some sort of nervous breakdown if he/she/they learned that the music is known and played 3500 years later.

That Mozart was buried in a paupers grave is a myth born of misunderstanding burial practices of the time. He was buried as a man of his social standing was normally buried. At that time bodies WERE buried side by side but marked accordingly. I've no doubt F. Murray Abraham is a distinguished and well-respected actor, but I will never be able to watch this movie or any clip thereof and not think Tom Hulce was absolutely robbed of an Oscar. As for Mozart... as with so many of the composers of his and nearby times... genius is almost not kind enough to describe him. Even if I'm not educated enough to know the differences between opuses, symphonies and the like, I don't think there's a single piece of his music with which I haven't fallen in love. Must've been fascinating to live during that time and have such talent right in front of you and not recognize it enough to compensate him properly for the ages.
I agree. But at the Oscars he did recognize Hulce saying that if it wasn’t for Hulce he would not have been able to play his part the way he did. Remember, too, Abraham was in more of the movie than Hulce. I believe that contributed to his getting the Oscar and not Hulce. It’s a shame that Mozart’s genius had to end the way it did. He was taken from us way too soon.

How is it possible that the door of the house of true love in the kingdom of heaven is lifted and its breath enters through the gate of happiness without you throwing away that sadness
