That year model Mazda 3 2014 + come with indirect TPMS sensors, they use the same wheel speed sensor that the ABS system uses to count the rotation of all the tires and flag a tire that is spinning at an abnormal rate compared to the others. It won't tell you what the tire pressure is but it will tell you there is an issue and is super reliable without ever needing to replace anything inside the tire or replace a battery. I have a Mazda 6 and cx 5 with the same system. Most Mazdas to my understanding have a TMPS reset button on the left side of the steering wheel to recalibrate the sensor after the light goes off, you don't need a scan tool to reset it.
Edit. 2014-2018 ish mazdas use indirect tpms. Looks like they went back to direct in wheel sensors for the later models but the one in the video has the indirect system.

I definitely gotta agree with you entirely on this one. I haven't exactly gotten to try the newer Mazdas, but from personal experience, the old Mazda BP 1.8 liter DOHC engine used in the Miata is pretty much bulletproof, and my 97 Sephia with the same engine still runs till this day. Those old BP engines are quite bulletproof, and can run for a very long time. Half a million miles wouldn't surprise me. I'd have to say that a Miata could pretty much run forever if you take care of it and don't rag the hell out of it.

I would own a Mazda but the only thing is I would rather have one with a manual transmission. Some of the automatics in Mazdas were good and some weren't. Their manual transmissions would generally hold up for a long time, unless the owner's teenage son was driving the car and constantly doing burnouts to show off in front of their friends.

Bought a 2015 Mazda3 6sp manual. Before it got to 110k it developed a gas leak. Dealer dicked me around for over 2 months and wouldn't contact Mazda with an open recall on specific vehicles for gas leaks. $3k later I finally get my car. Just yesterday I bought OEM brake pads, paying over $300!!! Just for the pads!!
First Mazda and it will be my last.
Life long owner of Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus. None cost me that much in repairs ... Ever I keep most of them well past 200k miles also.
There's a reason they're cheaper. Oh, and have fun finding a full scale Mazda Dealer. The nearest one shares a small corner of a Ford Dealer with limited storage for parts, nearly everything must be ordered and only two mechanics so it takes days of not weeks to get any work done.

I had a 1994 Mazda Protege' that was a dream to drive and got a measured 54 mpg!!! WOW! Unfortunately, the transmission cooling lines ran straight through the lower tank of the radiator. They rusted through and the two fluids mixed which nuked the tranny. At the time, it was only a $500 car so, it went to the bone yard. I should have just put another transmission into it but, I didn't have the time or facilities. What a loss.
Now, I drive Toyota Camrys which are from 2000 or earlier. I will never buy anything newer! The older cars are definitely better and last longer.
By the way Scotty, that stupid display screen is right in the middle of the field of view! I would never buy anything with that piece of junk located in that position! That is bad and dangerous engineering which is all that we get in the world of today. You can keep that Mazdump and all of the newer cars!
