  • This is the fix I did for my climate control box switch for the vents. Initially I had air flowing only through the defroster and the switch wouldn't change the flow to the main vent. This will likely work on most third gen 82-92 Camaros and Firebirds.

    I have a 1989 RS Camaro, I just tried to gain access and Camaro owners beware there's 2 wiring looms, a light bulb and a separate vacuum distributor hub that need to be removed before you'll be able to pull the console out far enough to get to those two small bolts. It's all easy enough to do but do not try and just yank it out 😅

    1992 Pontiac Firebird - Blower Motor Switch -- I took out my radio out
    and put my finger on the back side and wiggled it -- on MAX - the MED-HI
    fan was engaged ...and the LOW worked .. but not HIGH or MED-LO ... I
    think it is this part... Standard Motor Product Part Number:
    4659-06095888: HVAC Blower Motor Switch. UPDATE: There are 5 Copper
    prongs on this switch. There was one that got HOT and melted the plastic
    around it. I would say this is the problem. The OEM Part Number is
    16068778. The metal hanger I think can be used again - but there are 3
    little clamps that hold it in there. The NEW part is different in the
    screw placement on the gold metal setup is straight up & down. Mine
    OEM part has them opposite ends.

    I think we need to get you an AI for your car, one that talks and helps monitor everything in the car and that also activates some cool features like a light in the front that goes side to side.

      I think you're on to something. I'll call it the "Cool AI Tool". Or CAT for short. Revolutionary.

      You should totally make some how to vids! You can do the same stuff because sometimes each situation is unique. You might run into different obstacles than me.

    As this is a form of vacuum-leak, could it affect the engine as well?

    Good info for a future problem with my luck...hey do you have any insight to why the cold/hot lever for blend door wont move..on my 86 transam? I just got the car running after sitting for 8 yrs and went to move it to heat and it wouldn't budge..tried to force it a little but stuck..anyone?

    Well that didn’t fix my issue, I guess I have something else going on. Thanks for the vid though!

      Maybe one of your internal vent doors is stuck closed?

  • @joeala762
    @joeala762 3 года назад +2

    Does the heater control make its own vacuum or pressure to move the vent door motors? They don't rely on engine vacuum?

    • @dads8253
      @dads8253 3 года назад +1

      It uses engine vacuum and if you don't fix it you just have a little vacuum leak

    Did you consider 3D printing the broken part? It’s very small and symmetric so probably not too hard.

    By any chance is the radio a 1 din 1.5 or 2

    • @OverheatedGarage
      @OverheatedGarage  6 месяцев назад

      Pretty sure it's a 2 DIN. I used to have a 1 DIN and used a face plate to keep it mounted.

    Did you only have air coming out out the defrosters no matter what selection you chose? This just happened on my 88 Firebird but air comes out in the vent selection but when I go to ac whether it’s max,bi-level or reg ac it goes to the defrost setting. If I go to just vent then it comes out of the dash vents. Thanks

    • @bengiarraputo9357
      @bengiarraputo9357 Год назад +1

      Go all the way to defrost, then slowly!! Move the lever left to the selection you want. My 92 Camaro has same issue.

    What size are those two small bolts that hold the circle thing to the controls? I’m having this issue and wanted to take a look at it but I can’t figure it out. It’s too big for a 6mm and too small for a 7mm. I bought some 9/32” socket that supposedly fit but it’s too big as well

    • @ASdkekbur
      @ASdkekbur Год назад +1

      Well I figured it out: it’s 1/4. A regular bit holder fits apparently!
