I bought 40 on ebay. There's a few types. And markings are faded. - 3 mica grey plate ( voskod? Photon? ) -3 mica silver plate -4 mica ( 3 on top ) -2 mica silver plate -2 mica grey. Is there an easy way to identify these ?
@zubrzubr6769 most are quite faded. I can make out the reflector logo on a couple. And the voskod rocket on a bunch. I xan see date codes on a bunch of them as well. I guess I was just wondering if the triple mica ones are 6n2p-ev? Or 6n2p-k maybe? Or are there normal 6n2p with a variety of 2 and 3 mica depending on year?

One might be useful in V1 for dirty sounds to tame fizz or an amp that is too bright. Kind of reminds of the difference I’m getting between a greenback and a Fane F70 right now. The GB has more sizzle and the Fane has a tamer top end but still with a good midrange. The Fane is a great choice for dirty amps that have a lot of fizz or sizzle in the top end and you want to get it out of the way of cymbals etc.
Well, I guess like everything today is made to be consumed fast so it comes with poor craft and materials...and you dont have to pay more..you can pay less for 6N2P and have a better tube then Sovtek, win win situation :)
Wow great demo. I like the better separation between instruments with the Voshods, they are a quieter but it doesn't matter really. Please could you tell me where you found your adaptators ?
For what I've read 6N2P has an amplification of 98 when 12ax7 has 100. So basically 6N2P would sit somewhere between 12ax7 and 5751. It could be just a hair quiter.. But not to the extent like would be if 12AT7 or even more in case of 12AU7...however the tonal characteristics are slightly different then would be an European made ECC83. I'd say this tube is best buy in 12AX7/ECC83 world 👌
somewhere between, @@ecc8344/ 5751 is 70mu 6N2P 98MU 12AX7 100mu tho these spencs arent adhered to by all tubes. mullard (british not russian rebrands) ECC83 test lower gain than modern 12AX7.
Ironic your channel is called 'ECC83' but you call the ECC83 a 12AX7. I wondered about these old Soviet era 6N2P valves - cheap and plentiful, now I know they are not a drop in replacement and have 6V heaters. Useful info :-)
No, it doesn't. You need to get 9/10 in a level matched blind test to be even close to sure. This kind of testing is simply bullshit. And i do have formal education on the topic: it is rare to hear differences in tubes of same kind and if you do hear any it is most likely that one of them is defective.
No. Different pinout and only running on 6.3v ..so if you want to use them you first need to verify if you amp heater indeed runs on 6.3. . And you either need to get this adapters that im using or re-wire your tube sockets. When it comes to tube yes.. its pretty much ECC83 with exception that this one has 98% gain when ECC83 has 100%. The gain difference is so small you woudnt even notice :)

Nice sound demos! My ears liked the 12ax7s clean & the 6N2Ps crunchy. 😃

@@zubrzubr6769 thanks for the info !
I worked on audio amplifiers in the '70s. The thought of paying the then equivalent of $80 for a 12AX7 would have been outrageous.
Yeah insane prices on 12ax7s! Thats why im experimenting with 6N2P!
my word, what a drastic difference! i couldnt pick a favorite.

i have i think 10 i bought a long while ago....after hearing your test i have to dig them out
Give em a chance! Worth it! And they sure will be longer in stock selling adound then vintsge ECC83's👍
This is the design that Sovtek 12ax7wb come from. Basically same tube but re-wired to go into standard 12ax7 sockets.
Yes! With exception of better materials since this tubes were build for Soviet military :) and Sovtek today is made only for consumer's market :)
@@ecc8344 why can’t they just sell the present Sovtek with better materials? I would pay more money

Hi there! Thank you! :) i've found them on the eBay .you should find it if you type in ; 6n2 to 12ax7" . Cheers, enjoy :)
The 12AX7 sounds louder.
I don't hear much of an EQ shift but the volume difference is apparent.

Ummm, HUGE difference between the two. The 12AX7 was much brighter and flubbier. Mids were more musical in the 6N2P
This type of tubes can be used on a Fender Twin reverb? Great video. Many thanks
Hi :) you can put whatever you want as long the tube type is right for your amp. Its up to your taste and what can you find selling around :)
Another great video thank you from England

For HiFi use, I think the 6N2P:s do not stand a chance to the 12ax7:s. Lack clarity and spatial qualities
The 6n2p’s are very inexpensive. Just a different heater pin out. No center tap.Order from Ukraine. Great deals and they can use the cash.
Right on!
