    • @ltmuffler3482
      @ltmuffler3482 27 дней назад

      He's spent 30 years doing what I've sort of been doing for about 2 years as a novice church drummer, so I absolutely 100% believe that if a dumb dumb like me can figure out the time signature and tempo and come up with a basic drum line for a song and then figure out its construction by the end of the first verse or chorus, then he ABSOLUTELY can throw this together after picking up the 3/4 time signature and recognizing the half time beat in the chorus. If you really compare what he did note by note with the original, it's wildly different, BUT it still sounds like it's the same because it's still a half time 3/4 tempo drum line with breakdowns, builds, and runs at all the right transitions.

A friend of mine once said, if it feels like a song of bunchnod olf Germans would be singing in a bar swinging their beer mugs, it's 6/8. Source: music degree, arranger, producer, professional musician, music nerd. That said, even some composers are wrong about the difference. They think their song is in 3/4. I've watched the original on Drumeo like a dozen times by now + a whole bunch of reactions. He was absolutely mesmerizing in this. Like we all know almost all of the people on Drumeo except for Sugarfoot did this challenge by listening to the whole track first at least once. This absolute maniac just went for it. And what a set: that ability to combine really quite perceptive listening and anticipating, with supreme confidence. A couple people have said in their reactions that they didn't believe it - but you can clearly see several points where he corrects some over and undershoots, and picks up things in the blink of an eye. Like the guitar licks which he matched by doing those tom fills - on the first one you can see he only catches the tail end of it. But even that is amazing as that lick is like 1 second long. I can't get enough and I've gone back to relisten to RHCP now :D

    • @mattevans1643
      @mattevans1643 2 дня назад

      It's not that his is better, it's just that your particular taste appeals more to his version. There's a lot of songs that when you hear them/play them, you wonder why is there not some more snare play here, or why isn't there an extra kick here or there, or why don't they match the kick to the guitars? It's not that the original is wrong(objectively it is) but it's more so you don't have the same mind as the original drummer. And I mean he's the one making money, while we're watching on a screen critiquing his playing, obviously they did something right. But Chad Smith is an anomaly, easily one of the greatest drummers to ever play, guy can figure out how a song goes and play a very close to original pattern just off of his thought alone. Then you go watch other drummers do these and they have to completely change the song to make their pattern work. Or you get Mike Portnoy who can just play whatever he wants, cause he's Mike Portnoy. You want double bass with your Taylor Swift no problem😂. But he does it in a way that doesn't change the rhythm of the original, which is another skill all in itself.
