You missed 1 thing: Arduino (an italian company) is not the microcontroller but it is the board. The uC is an Atmel (in the case of UNO). Every single student, here in Italy, coming from an electronic formation, knows everything about this board. However, you have introduced the product very well. Thanks for covering some electronic topics also! xD

I've worked with Ubiquiti's MFI line up, which isn't Arduino, but has similar behavior. I already have an understanding of the hardware so I am looking forward to seeing your programming Maker 101 video.
Nicely timed video - I just opened one of the boxes I got as part of my X-Carve kit with one of these in it. Bolts, screws, belts and pulley I understand but that little packed intimidated me a bit.

Good introductory video, just nitpicking a bit, what Arduino does are development boards (and there were a bunch of them before Arduino), the microcontroller itself in an UNO is an ATmega328P, which can be bought and programmed independently from the Arduino Dev.
Just found your videos today. Amazed. Just looking for good places to get the knowledge to understand what all you are talking about. Feels like you are a machinist, IT, carpenter etc. Did you have formal schooling/ job experience in those areas?

Nice video! Looking forward to the video about the coding basics. Planning to take up fiddling with the arduino for a little project myself (counting and logging the ticking sound of my beer fermenter's water seal).
Arduino is easy way in to Micro controllers. An Uno with shield a pair of MEGA 2560's and random components from Hall sensors to PIR sensors, resistors caps oh my fun. Just don't burn none! We have a Snap Kit's ELECTRONICS 303 for fun too. Kids love to build with it and make simple circuits, no programming needed! Great work as always.
Who knows the best resources to learn Arduino? Every time I use the arduino I search things specific to what I need and put something together but I never really LEARN what I'm doing... :-/ Bob, great video!
+Giaco Whatever Sparkfun is a great starting place. They sell a great kit called the Inventor's Kit that will get you rolling in no time. It'll walk you through circuits, basic code, and make sure you have everything you need.
+Giaco Whatever Similar to what +Benny Born said, I would recommend learning a very simply programming language (try code school and pick your fancy), just to understand the logic of coding. In essence, all programming is the same, just the syntax is different. Once you know one language (and get the concept around it), doing another one is EXETREMELY easy
