  • The 2-8-4 that started it all - foamers molded at an early age with the release of the book and film "The Polar Express" featuring this beast, the Pere Marquette 2-8-4 Berk N-1 class locomotive.
Commissioned by a community member and built by developer 'Machine Rail' with not only the assistance of 'DSGDDR'... but now 'Searchlight Simulations' as well. This is what happens when you don't rest on laurels of a decade ago which some Train Sim devs do to this very day. These guys keep climbing...
    Let's crack her open!

Considering how old the current Berkshire models are, I was just happy that there was finally a new one coming.
But they absolutely nailed this one. It’s everything I could have ever wanted. It’s just perfect.

Fun fact G-Trax actually made a second Berkshire not a lot of people know about, it was(and still is) featured on RWA under the RW&A addons section, which most people don't check.
His second berk was based off the N-1, and while it shared a lot of the meshes and textures from the NKP model obviously, it was actually a distinct model accurate for the prototype.
He also made a version of the SP&S 700 model dressed up like a GN S-2, which is on there under the Cascadian Addons section.
Both models are freeware btw, they don't require the steam DLC at all, even though they share like 99% of the assets.

I'm all for this! About time the Berk got a proper remodel! Now it's time to see NKP 765 on it!

The PM berks as originally built had air-actuated whistle valves which couldn't be quilled so it only having one type of blast is correct here

I remember being SO excited for the old GTrax berkshire for trainsim, back when it was called Railworks. Not into the game anymore but I'm so happy to see big engines like this still being developed for it. Their 1522 caught my eye as well.

Now, all we need is some high quality Steam Railroading Institute equipment PM 1225 carries with it and the aux tender.

For me the price 15,18 €... Damned cheap for what you get. If they asked twice that price, I would pay it gladly... The quality has its worth. 👍

    Two questions:
1 on what route are you running that beauty?
    2. is it my eyes or are there no crew in the cab? I don't them in the video.

The whistle is quillable if you press the enter key. I know they brought out an update right after release so idk if that's when it was added.
