29:17 I learned the same way! The only thing though, was that I couldn't do the bombs clip, cause I didn't know what a neutral shield jump was, so i went on the botw speedrun discord. I cliped my attempts and had a few really helpful people critique them and correct my technique. Wonderful and super helpful people over there, in case anyone else wants to learn the botw speedruns as well!

If only totk didn’t have the 7 min cutscene, should make you watch it once on your switch and then let you have an option to skip for any future runs. i’d love to see you speed-run it but understand why. Do you think you’ll do more totk content in the future even if it isn’t speedrunning? so glad you’re back from break and hope you’re doing great!!!

Is the super long cutscene of TOTK just the intro until Link wakes up in the sky islands? Or is there something after? I don't remember. If so, can't you just save when you wake up and have the speedrun start from there? Since the playing" in the intro has no bearing on the rest of the game?

Unfortunately categories requiring dragon parts cant do that as the dragons move during the intro and thus you could abuse this. It actually DOES have an effect as the whole overworld ticks during that sequence.

Fair play for not wanting to run TOTK, but you can absolutely run the game without the intro (and start at the save after the cutscene with a time of 6:40). Not doing the clip loses less than a minute is only possible on 1.0.0 anyway, so you can just take the time loss if you're going for PB instead of WR. Also, doing other version runs like 1.1 or 1.2.0 are a lot of fun, or running categories that don't rely on the intro like GSI or GSI 100%, if you don't want to take the time loss.
Also the tricks aren't as hard as they're made out to be now that people have figured out good setups. CSS takes a while to learn, but I'd liken it in difficulty to learning shrine clips in BOTW, and failing it loses only about 6 seconds per attempt (or do cog jump instead and lose about 40 seconds). Wing flip is a pain to learn, but absolutely optional if you're not gunning for WR pace, gaining about 40 seconds if perfectly executed, and more like 10-20 seconds with ok execution. I would say the hardest trick for any% is actually demon dragon 2 cycle and fast head, but that's mostly a matter of skill and timing, and is super consistent if you are good at it. There aren't really any inconsistent tricks in any% any more (maybe amiibo luck, but no-amiibo is more fun anyway), just a few that need practice to pull off well.
Overall, I think TOTK speedruns are super fun to get into and also watch, aside from the intro scene. And most of the fun of watching a stream comes from the streamer, not the game anyway. No pressure to run a game you don't want to, just wanted to consider it a streamable option.

I just thought what if nintendo put an unskippable cutscene in TOTK because they didn't like the botw speedrunners pointing out glitches in their games, or even modding BOTW. Pointcrow did have problems with nintendo for a little bit
