  • Hey Guys,
    This is just a fun little video explaining our thought process behind the new PNW Components Range Handlebar. This is my first ever signature product and I am really proud about how it turned out. Our biggest goal with these bars was to help people eliminate wrist pain and enjoy their ride more. I think we were able to accomplish that with some of the shape that we chose along with the material. The other really cool part is that I was able to convince the owners of PNW Components to donate 5% of all proceeds from this Handlebar towards the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) to help support the growth of high school mountain biking :). I hope you guys enjoy the video and if you have any questions at all please feel free to ask away!
    Here is the link to the bars! bit.ly/2EqBPZq
    Thanks,
    Kyle

    Kyle, I respect your mountain biking skills, ability, and perspectives, but what shines brightest for me about you is who you are as a person. Your interaction with April and your give-back to NICA instead of obtaining royalties says volumes.
    The world needs more good people like you. Keep it going!

    Great components!

    After seeing this vid I really wanted to try these bars as I would constantly get fatigued wrists/hands. I've been riding with these PWN Range bars, 50mm range stem and Loam grips for the past 2 weeks and am in love with these bars. We just did a 4 hour 50km trail ride yesterday and I did not get any hand/wrist fatigue! Normally after an hour or two they would be killing me. Really happy with the purchase. The Orange looks great with my Trek Roscoe8 orange/red fade logo.

    Nice post Kyle. A little late to this party, you never know when the old guy will find your video so thanks for keeping it up. Just happen to be looking for bars to deal with hand pain while riding and a higher rise to help my 6 decade old back ride longer. I'll check out the bar and NOW will check into NICA because I am down for ANYTHING that will get youngins outdoors.

    Nice! I’m very torn on whether to get these for carbon. I really want the vibration Dampening. I also don’t want to break my bars. On a sidenote your tutorial videos have me running faster than ever!

    • @AprilRideMTB
      @AprilRideMTB  3 года назад +1

      Thats awesome Chad!! In my experience the carbon bars are either really compliant yet fragile or very stiff yet durable. These 2014 alloy bars will be the most compliant aluminum material you can use and has a property more similar to steel. They are a few grams heavier than conventional bars though but if you want vibration damping you cant go wrong :)

    I might end up getting these. As a 5’5” rider on a small frame I can still barely reach my bars. I also feel like they’re way too low. Raising my bars and sweeping them back would make my ride so much more comfortable and easier to pop up in my opinion. I can barely lift up my tire coming from the bmx world.

    Kyle, I bought a PNW 200mm dropper post. They have great customer service. And I just ordered this bar. KW signature model? Whatever. Then I saw this video and now realize who KW is. I KNOW THAT GUY! Best instructional MTB videos online!
    Question: With the back sweep, will I need to get a longer stem? (I have a 2018 Santa Cruz Tallboy with a Race Face Ride bar with 8° of back sweep with no upsweep and a Race Face Aeffect R 50mm stem .) Any recommendations on cockpit setup?

    • @AprilRideMTB
      @AprilRideMTB  3 года назад +1

      Hey! Thats awesome! I would try with the same length stem at first. It will be slightly shorter but I think you will like it. At the most you could go to a 55mm down the road if it felt like it shortened the reach too much.

  • @2Philthy

    Hi Kyle and April! I actually ordered the PNW grips when I got my new bike 4 months ago, they are AMAZING, if I forget my gloves I don't worry as much anymore. I just ordered the PNW loam lever to replace my stock lever which is super janky and cheap feeling along with this handlebar and im excited to get it. How much do you think getting a stem would make a difference? I honestly don't know exactly what a new stem will bring to the equation along with the bars or what it changes?

    • @AprilRideMTB
      @AprilRideMTB  Год назад +1

      Hey Phillip! you will definitely notice a big difference with the bars and i would say the stem will be less noticeable but does give you the chance to change up your bike fit a little bit. We need to do a video on choosing the right stem length for people!

    • @2Philthy

    • @AprilRideMTB
      @AprilRideMTB  4 года назад +2

    • @chriscain4014
      @chriscain4014 2 года назад

      10 degree backsweep according to PNW specs. I am curious on what helps your wrists as well. I have a 15 mm rise, no clue on backsweep, bontrager bar on my Roscoe 7 and my hands always hurt.

    • @MikeGlorfindel
      @MikeGlorfindel 2 года назад

      @@chriscain4014 Hey all, the back sweep you need is going to vary depending on you anatomy as I have recently found out. @joyofbike has a vid on it but basically my bike came with a 9 degree back sweep which now I have progressed in my riding in both what I am hitting and how long I ride ends up giving me a pain in my thumb knuckle and a bit in the shoulder. I played around with rotating the bar but my hands are always on an inward angle putting more pressure on my thumb. I was looking at the Gen 3 as all other bars with plus 9 degrees are nearly £100! Not sure 10 degrees will be enough but should relieve some of the pressure. Should really try the test from the Joy of Bike vid.
