If anyone wants to know the connections cause I've seen people generally curious
Guts and Dimitri are two protagonists that had horrible traumatic childhoods, involving family death, eventually were betrayed by white haired close friend (Griffith and Edelgard respectively), both snap and their one goal...get revenge and kill them no matter the cost or harm to them, killing many people and monsters while doing so. Eventually both come to their senses when close friends/lovers (Casca and Byleth respectively) come to their aid, they eventually rise up become leaders (Guts mercenary group and Dimitri with his kingdom) and take down said white haired individual

Dimitri, through teaching progression will pick up swords as a secondary weapon, and most often you'll find casual players don't really care about keeping to one, they'll usually stick to using the weapon the unit starts with as their best and let the unit, in this case Dimitri, pick up the next goal set and go on about their day, leading to Dimitri being a lance primary, sword secondary. And hypothetically, let's say Guts breaks the handle of the Areadbhar. The blade of the spear, the bit that looks like a hand? If you recall with me, the lance is used in-game to slash and to stab. The curved piece that looks like a S is a guard which could protect the hand in the case the blade of the Areadbhar is used like a sword. A single-edged sword, with basically no leverage, but still. And all this talk of sword reminded me of Durandal, in Fire Emblem 6 and 7: a huge sword used to kill dragons. The sprite of it in 7 when Eliwood uses it makes it absolutely enormous, Eliwood's horse looks small with it on screen. It's safe to assume that Durandal is bigger than Dragonslayer, and facts are Durandal has killed dragons before, potentially hundreds. I feel I should mention that Dimitri is on the lower end of Fire Emblem's super-humans, there aren't any enormous weapons in 3H, but he has crushed a man's skull through his helmet, killing said man with that alone. However, he is still comparable to the other FE super-humans, the most drastic being Eliwood and Hector with Durandal and Armads, both being normal 18-ish year-olds with huge weapons with incredible weight, with enough power in the time of their forging that their use changed the laws of nature themselves. Then again, Dimitri has the blood of a dragon in him, wields said dragon's bones and heart as his weapon and leaves no survivors in combat because he destroys them that completely, according to characters in routes where Dimitri is an enemy.

Second of all Dimitri has the AP advantage due to City level cloud dispersion from the Light missiles. Rhea who was very weakened also barely survives two of them hitting her, so her at full power is def more than city
Theres also statements that Crest Weapons can cut through Mountains
already getting into "Way past one shot" on Guts who's City at max while Dimitri is City as a lower end. You can go even further he could range to Island level. If you also buy Sothis scaling since Byleth fuses with her, Dimitri now downscales albeit not too much to Multi Cont since Sothis flooded the planet. Finally FE Heroes can be argued as canon similarly to how Dissidia can be argued canon to Final Fantasy characters
with the statements from the game directly from those who cause many of the events Dimitri and many FE characters go to the astronomical level of Multiverse busters, since theres Dimensional tiering, and the fact that Loki's Tempest Trials destroy infinite timelines and the Heroes can go in and tank it.
@@theroyaldrake0514 if you really think they're already super human, then you're way wrong. Theres also a few things wrong with your stuff. Also the fact that Areadhbar has destroyed many monsters, giant robots from Cornelia, and Hegemon Edelgard who is a size of a standard dragon.

How this fight could start: Dimitri is walking through the cold forests of Faerghus, slaying Demonic Beasts left and right, looking for "the Black Knight slaughtering Faerghus soldiers", when he sees Guts slash a Demonic Beast down with Dragonslayer. Guts turns to Dimitri, and demands that the Savior King--whom he views as a mercenary hired to kill him--gets out of his way, showing he's not afraid to kill Dimitri if he has to. Dimitri, meanwhile, realizes he's found the Black Swordsman he was looking for, and the two clash....
Nah bro, Guts kills Dedue. If Dimitri wins, Dedue survives somehow and Dimitri just trashed Guts for no reason. If Guts wins... Dedue takes the Areadbhar and goes Giant Demonic Beast and finishes Guts off. Otherwise? Yeah, cold dark forest, rumors of a killer in black, it's neither of them, but they think it's the other guy.

One thing that would be cool would be Dimitri wailing on Guts so hard he breaks his current lance in two, then he just groans and pulls a Killer Lance or, obviously, Adrealbar.
Also Dimitri should lose his massive cape mid-fight. That'd make him look more like a cornered animal than the majesty and size that fur gives him. Just to establish how dire his situation is

The more i look into dimitri the more excited i get. It would be such a raw fight between Two vengeance consumed characters that just Go at each other like beasts. Just imagine Dimitri on his last legs shattering his spear against Dragonslayer. Guts deploying the Berserker Armor and launching at him with lethal intend and dimitri pulling out Areadbhar to desperately to kill guts or at least Go down fighting.
.....But it doesn't work. Gut's straight up TACKLES Dimitri to the ground, gazing down upon him like a wrathful god before swinging his massive blade down. Dimtri raises one hand up to block it, but get's nearly the entirety of it chopped into two. As he screams out, Guts brings his sword back _again_ and brings it down, cutting a massive gash into Dimitri's armor and body! Worser still is that he just keeps going, continuing to hack away at Dimitri even as his screams for mercy become little more than blood-choked gargles. When all is said and done, Guts retracts the armor and looks down on an absolutely *mangled* Dimitri, who's body looks more like the result of a loaf of thick bread being cut into multiple slices by a professional chef. Wordlessly, the demon slayer rests his sword on his shoulders and walks away, kicking down the door in the process.
@@aidanbarry8233 sorry to say this but Dimitri wins, he can scale to Edelgard and Byleth who then scales to Rhea who then also scales to the Javelins of light which can take out whole cities and continents. Don’t believe me? Look in the comments.

I like how a good amount of the comments I've seen so far are like "Guts wins" and then people who are aware of how BS Fire Emblem can be storm in with their "Um, actually..."

Thing is, even with the umm actuallys, my money is still on guts, while I’m not sure who’s physically stronger, what I do know is guts is utterly, ludicrously, insanely resilient, the fucker just won’t die! If dimitri is stronger, well that’s not that big a deal, guts is used to fighting people way stronger then he is and still getting that W. If dimitri is weaker or equal to guts, then gut’s insane seemingly limitless survivability probably takes him the W as well.
I just... I can’t really see dimitri winning here, especially since dimitri has gotten himself killed by overextending in literally every timeline except the one your specifically there to babysit him for.
Essentially this would likely end up being a war of attrition and in that field guts is KING.
@@Lh0000 Scaling to the likes of Edelgard, Dimitri has the stats to one shot and blitz Guts. Guts lacks the physical stats to even land a blow on Dimitri, let alone outlasting him.
Anyone who knows the insanity of Three Houses and power scales appropriately should know this is a stomp in Dimitri's favor. More power, better speed, better weapon...all Guts has is his versatility and superior training, which won't do shit when the gap in their physical stats are this massive.

Dimitri also got curbstomped off screen by baseline run of the mill soldiers, there IS no way to properly scale three houses, since there’s really no feats outside of the magic ICBM, which could and would have killed everyone in every scene they showed up in had it not been for sheer coincidence and/or quick thinking to avoid them. Edalgard doesn’t particularly have many noteworthy feats, dimitri’s weapons aren’t particularly noteworthy either, the only relic worth a damn is the one made from the corpse of an alien god.
Dimitri isn’t particularly good at enduring prolonged fights: see every timeline other then blue lions where he, again, was killed offscreen by baseline attacks. Speed is difficult if not impossible to scale “properly” since the in game movement speed and the actual cutscene speed are directly contradictory.
@@Lh0000 I feel like you're missing one thing about him getting "curbstomped off screen" (something I still think the developers did him dirty with) in that he was in a blind pursuit of a fleeing Edelgard at the time. In the mental state that he was in at that time in the story, he's shown to not to care for his own life so he likely didn't care to try and protect himself at the time, ignoring the soldiers in hopes of reaching his Edelgard.

As much as I prefer Guts VS Clare (Claymore), I definitely wouldn't mind this as an alternative. This track alone proves why it would work well as an episode.

It's about time Fire Emblem took the stage! And starting off their debut with one of their best characters no less! Let's go Dimitri!!!
Honestly, I feel like this would be such an amazing matchup to actually happen.
Both of those powerhouses with for primarly goal at some point being purely vengence. Plus it would introduce a new franchise in the Death battle family and also show a more brute force fight with only strenght in mind of both combatants and not any gadgets to add.
Although, Guts still has a ton of random gadgets that could really mix things up, so I'm not quite certain about that.
Yeah I worded that poorly. I just meant that their primary fit would be of course their brute strength. For sure guts has his arm canon and other things but I mostly meant that they would think less about strategy and more about immediate violence

Well this has never been a rule. Batman, Megaman, Venom and some other had more than one battle. In fact it's interesting to see how they fare againsrt different opponent.

Kind of weird how this was music from a theoretical matchup that would actually, finally come to be two years later.
This matchup was unexpected but after thinking about it, well it works quite well.
As much as I would love to have Fire Emblem in Death Battle it would be quite difficult to calculate. Especially due to its variable nature as a tactical RPG.

They'd likely take Dimitri's final canon Class for his growth, and assume he wears at least a few lances.
It'd be similar to how they treat Pokémon. How strong is Dimitri if you don't feed him enough stat growth items to make the final bosses look like some sort of twisted joke
Dimitir might have a good Speed stat if he is comparable to both Byleth and Edelgard who have been shown capable of dodging Rhea's Fire Breath

Fun fact: this song kind of goes along with the actual Death Battle episode. The fight is shorter by about 10-15 seconds, but it works
So many ways this fight could go. I'd like to think they'd both just swing brute force for a bit, realize the other guy can take it and start to use other equipment, with Guts using his cannon and Dimitri using his other weapons, before they both go berserk and whip out their primary weapons and swing until the other guy goes down.
That would be the mother of all slugfests and I'm all here for it!

A fight that I'd say mostly depends on where the two participants are in their respective stories. Not just in terms of equipment and training, but almost more importantly their mental state (at least for Dimitri).

Either Guts becomes another of Dimitri's hallucinations, or he is stuck with the Berserker armor.

I'd root for Dimitri all the way, and I'd really like to see him win, but I don't know how you'd scale a Fire Emblem character with all the items that they have the option to carry unless it was FE vs another FE character (Something like Byleth vs Corrin or Corrin vs Robin maybe)
You would probably have to high ball them. Which means
They are strong enough to kill a knight in full armor and fast enough to dodge literal lightning and so on
I would leave potions out of the picture
They’ll undoubtedly use Dimitri’s max stat totals if they ever use him in a real DB (which are insane), then they’ll scale it to how other characters do in the game (most likely Nemesis or Rhea). In which case they’ll probably stack that along with Atrocity, maybe the crest of a Blaiddyd and some crits, and by the end of the episode we’ll probably be bowing down to our new mountain busting eye patched edgelord Prince.

@@atticusv668 Yeah they'll definitely go max stats for 3H characters considering that they're highly personalized unlike other games. As for Arts and Spells, they'd probably go the pokemon route and give them access to all of their natural ones without any outside sources for help (So like nothing they'd get from mastery, only the stuff they'd have naturally). It's not that big of a deal for Dimitri cause his unique skills are mostly battalion focused.
As for scaling, they'll probably leave it with purely 3H characters since there's no consistent scaling to Tellius or Awakening for Fodlan. That said I don't think they'll scale to Rhea directly, probably more along the lines of scaling him to Edelgard since those two seem to match each other consistently as fighters, and then point out how Edelgard could take hits and hurt Rhea who is considerably stronger than most other characters.

In all honesty, the berserker armor carries Guts through this fight too, I’m fairly certain.
It's hard to do a Fire Emblem character in Death Battle because
1. They can have a variety of equipment and different classes to work off of
2. Their feats are mainly determined by numbers on a sheet, not things they actually do.
@@yuuhyakuya3863 Dimitri does have one clear feat of strength, crushing a human skull with his bare hand, which is super human strength in his hand alone, low balling it means his strength is at least that of two men in peak physical condition.
Add also the fact that Atrocity literally increases the damage dealt, his Crest then doubles it and with succesful crit he also triplicate said damage.
This battle is gonna be crazy! Can't wait for Monday!

Honestly, this would be one hell of a gory fight. I'd love to see it.
If going by Guts as he is now, he'll be one hell of an opponent for Dimitri, however, Dmitri might be able to hit it out of the park if he can bait Guts's long swings, cause I feel Dimitri would be faster at maxed stats. Then again, Guts would need to be wailed on real hard to be beaten.
Honestly if Dimitri gets the chance to wail once, he can just keep going (like one of his crit animations), and he's certainly powerful enough to tax the Berserker armor.
Would that be enough though? That's unclear.

You are right! Using this logic, Dimitri would indeed have more ease to pass through the armor to hurt Guts directly, and potentially cause him to bleed out.

Perhaps, but that armour will literally let Guts fight until "all his bones are shattered, and the last drop of his blood is spilled".
Considering some of the ridiculous stuff that Guts has survived without even approaching this limit; Dimitri would be extremely hard pressed to finish him off, as long as the strength and speed difference isn't too overwhelming Guts can likely just keep fighting until he eventually lands a mortal blow against his more fragile opponent.
@@finaldusk1821 Dimitri is only more fragile if you don't take his scaling into account, which you absolutely should if you want an accurate fight. Dimitri is as strong and likely more powerful than Edelgard, who easily slew Rhea on the Crimson Flower route. Hell, Edelgard almost scales to Byleth, who did the exact same thing on Silver Snow, except Rhea was even more powerful there. Keep in mind that even at half power, the Sword of the Creator could cut a mountain in two. And Dimitri is way stronger than that. The Berserker Armor does give Guts more of a chance, sure. But against someone with so much more power and speed wielding a lance that can attack him effectively no matter what, his chances of winning are rather slim unfortunately.

In short, so as to not spoil too much, Dimitri goes through some similar story arcs as to what Guts goes through. He's also arguably the strongest character in the fire emblem series as a whole. His damage output and the feats of strength that's shown or talked about are rediculous. It wouldn't be too off to call him "The Guts of Fire Emblem".

They definitely should though. The problem is what would be an actually good match up?
The only one that immediately comes to mind is Ike vs Guts since they both wield greatswords with monstrous strength and come from a mercenary band. Even though i know Ike is likely to get his ass clapped by Guts.
However, Guts vs Dimitri does have some credibility to it. (Spoiler warning.) Both went from having a traumatic background in their childhoods (Dimitri losing his family in a massive slaughter and being the only survivor and Guts being abused by his foster father before eventually being forced to kill him.) and found someone later in their lives that they cherish (Edelgard for Dimitri and Griffith for Guts) who eventually betrayed them. Thus, turning them into rage filled berserkers as well as losing an eye in the process. (Though for Dimitri it's never explained how he lost that eye.)
@@ShogunPlasma Meh I never liked Ike VS Guts, Ike VS Siegfried has always been better imo. Since they have more going on in terms of connections and it's way closer (with Siegfried barley winning from what I know, compared to Ike just one shoting Guts and calling it a day.)
A good idea I could think of as a somewhat good matchup for a FE character is Geralt from the witcher series vs robin

Honestly id Love to See Guts again but i have literally no idea how this fight could go. I would say Guts but i know Next to nothing about Dimitri or how strong Fire emblem characters can be.
Dimitri is the strongest (in terms of raw muscle power) of all FE characters the dude has effortlessly crushed human skulls and has trained since he could walk this leads to him for 5 years starving, wounded, sleep deprived, and alone killing entire battalions of enemy soldiers for 5 whole years in conclusion he's a beast

@@CommanderBly5052 I also believe that if they also decided to throw in heroes in to the mix, then it might help Dimitri counter anything Guts could throw at him. Think about it.
B! Dimitri's main weapon has built in distant counter, which would basically render the arm cannon useless since Guts can't efficiently space out Dimitri anymore.
Atrocity might be able to overtaxed the berserk armor (although I might be wrong)
And vengeful Lance would just flat out stop Guts from counter attacking.
I know it would still be a close battle, and Dimitri's alts in heroes might not entirely stop Guts, but it still would give him many advantages.
@@Name_man Dimitri, as a child, lifted boulders to train and by his own account lifted a carriage AND the horse pulling it with one arm. The weight of which being a combined 2400~ pounds. Considering how that was Dimitri as a CHILD easily lifting 6 Dragonslayers at once, image the raw power he possesses as an adult.
Now combine this with his personal weapon, the Hero's Relic, Areadbhar. This weapon grants him the combat art Atrocity, which amplifies damage to all opponents, meaning it must bypass defenses making armor useless.
Less likely to be taken into account are crits and Dimitri's crest (Which both rely on random chance), but they triple/double his damage output respectively.

It’s real boys it’s finally coming
Guts is raw grit, steel, and to angry to die and while I’m not aware of all his feats I’m fairly certain he’s superhumanly strong and durable. But Dimitri is an FE character, which means he can do a shit ton of different things, so we’d have to be talking highest base stat total, and his feats are pretty wild, dodging lightning, taking a spear to the gut and going on like nothing, crushing armor in like it’s nothing.
While I think Guts has the edge, I can’t really say I know for sure.
I think it’s gonna come down to how they scale Dimitri (cause how the hell do you scale an FE character). His personal combat art not only doubles the damage on armored units, but stacks with his crest which only further increases power, so he may just straight up break the Berserker armor. But what do I know, I’m an incredibly biased Blue Lion player who’s soloed with this boy
