Pretty much everything from the new laws to get a cdl to the fuel prices and now this Ab5 Law in Cali which more than likely will spread through other states is to force owner operators to work for a company. The whole plot is to fill in the "shortage of drivers" which really means owner operators are taking away from company driver rosters. In 2022 alot of owner ops are going back to companies due to the trucking industry making it harder for owner ops to operate. Seems like Semi or cdl licensed owners are getting affected the most.

You are correct. The only people that win with this law are lawyers, big trucking corporations and Uber , grub Hub and other small item delivery companies.

@@dggothustle, the bottom line is for this law is the CA 's reason is too many independent contractors mostly Delivery drivers : box trucks ,Van and semi drivers did not pay taxes since it took off in the the last 8 years
No it just means you legally cant take loads if your leased on.. but if your local with your own contracts through your business license you should be good..
