The Bass Gang cannot be held responsible for any damage or harm caused to individuals or property during the recording or viewing of reaction videos. Jokes aside, thanks for the reaction, Mortius!!
Also, Mortius, you might want to sit down for the rest of them. Although, actually, my sciatica is worse when sitting, so... stretch before the next one?
The more different from TBG it was all marwan most of their pieces that take turns in lead in this the others stayed in the background the whole time basically
Marwan is truly the Prince of Egypt. I love how his "demon jinn voice" to "wheeee high tenor belt" jolts literally everyone. You're shocked but kinda expecting the bass drop, NOT AT ALL expecting the leap up a few octaves.
What a treat you in for if you are already this excited. This is grand. Marwan killed this because since he couldn't fly out to the Czech Republic, he had to get a location, as well as camera crew and the lady dancer, and work out stuff with Peter, Tomi and Bobby who were elsewhere. These guys did such a great video/song.
I think the reason this feels so different from other Bass Gang covers is that Marwan is singing the whole lead, instead of the guys juggling the lead between them. And I think, even though it's different, it was absolutely the right call. To hear Marwan sing: "But hey, it's home!" really hits different when it actually *is* his home, instead of having an actor (like Will Smith) sing that line. And it also makes sense to have Tomi, Bobby, and Peter play the roles of travelers, visiting the bazaars.
Watching this was such a hoot. Bass gang LITERALLY broke mortius. Its always fun to see a fellow reactors point of view! Thank you for the amazing reaction for all of us gals blokes and all other folks ❤
I really love seeing the diversity The Gang bring to their arrangements. Here the bass/subharmonics are present but more subtle. Nice to see them showing off that they are not a one trick crew. The breadth of range here is dizzying.
This was so much fun. It is so good to see the Bass Gang back, and what they managed to achieve considering the adversity they faced was amazing. Marwan broke almost everyone with that drop! Sooooooo good!!!
They all have insane vocal ranges! And with Marwan only being 19, it will be awesome to see how it matures and improves as he gets older! (as if it's not astounding enough already 😒 at least leave a tiny bit of talent for the rest of us please..😂)
Just as heads up: Within their released Volume (3) The Bass Gang also did Friend Like Me which is equally good. Lead done by Bobby Bass. Besides Aladdin in the Volume Be Prepared done by Tomi and Gaston where the titular character is done by Peter showing off operatic skills. These three don´t have video so far though, so go somewhat unnoticed. All can be find in Releases section on their channel.
Yeah I definitely won’t be checking out any of those releases until the videos are out for reaction, but thank you for sharing the info with others who might be interested! Just make sure you don’t accidentally share too many details with those who might be waiting for video release :)
@@officialmortius I would have imagined the Voctave - prince of Egypt likely the only one you react to without video. Maybe the others will get one. Also fair warning me, but just mentioning the lead singer ain´t no spoiler and Peter´s main strength is well known.
You need to watch Peter’s reaction to this to get all of the juicy details! Peter was doing a great deal of the sky high stuff. Pay attention to the fact that Marwan was sucked into the lamp. Marwan was lit by being in the beam of an actual light. I just watched the early release of the next song and you’re going to love it, too!

What a great reaction! I feel for you with the sciatic pain-I was just putting my dinner plate down when it hit for the first time-it really is crippling. It can mess you up for a LONG TIME. Anyway, it was a lot of fun to watch you react. All I know is this was Marwan at his absolute best-I do agree it’s really different from other BG music, but it’s amazing, so IDC. What actually has me biting my nails going from here is, because Marwan wasn’t able to be in the Czech Republic with the guys, I’m not sure how they’re going to pull off the rest of the songs with him as one of the backup singers, but not in the same frames as the other two guys, if that makes sense. I’m sure they’ll find a way to make it work but it’s hard to imagine. Can’t wait, though, because the audio recordings for the songs sound fabulous.
Man this song is great, I've listened to it on its own several times and now I've been watching all the reaction videos I can find starting with Peter Barber's. This is my favorite thing since Emperor's New Clothes. Not that I haven't liked the other songs they put out but I havn't obsessed over them like these 2. This is just SO good.
I love your reactions - came here soon as I listened to the original on the BG's page. I can understand why they broke you - I have a feeling they're gonna break a lot of folks lol
I was hoping so much that you would react to this together with Marwan, I would have loved to see that. But your reaction alone was great.😊 Marwan is really a very special, wildly talented young man, and this was perfect for him.❤ ❤ Not to take anything away from the rest of the guys of course, they are all very gifted. I'm so happy they found one another so we get to enjoy their many talents. ❤❤❤
Marwan did a chat with Qofy where he talked about some of the problems they had with the meet up (along with several other topics). It was fun to watch.
Mortius, I hope you're OK! This is such a cool arrangement, fabulously executed, and your reaction was everything I wanted! (Except for your poor hip/leg/nerve issue, eek.) I have to say that the first time I heard Marwan's last slide in chest up to that G#4, my first thought was of something you said in your reaction to Geoff's "Blackbird": "HIS VOICE NO FLIP!?!" 😄
@officialmortius Oh, good! I am a massage therapist who works with a few people with chronic sciatic issues, and I see how painful it can be for them, so I worried for you. Glad to hear it didn't last long!
Videos like this are why you are one of my favorite reactors - joy, chaos, musical knowledge 🎉 also, a great video from the Bass Gang! But totally understand the feedback from Mortius. Still, definitely going on the playlist 🎶🎧
I have been waiting on this with bated breath ever since I saw the video! this did not disappoint from either you or the gang and I am so excited to see where volume 3 goes! PS Will you be able to fit the Wellerman/ bass gang collab in to your schedule or not?
I bet you were missing Marwan's visual sheet music. As this was a lot closer to a true music video and it was hard to tell in a couple of places who was doing what
It's also a bit different to have 3 of them actually together, rather than all 4 of them recorded seperately and edited together. That threw me (in a nice way). I loved this one. I think Marwan sounded superb.
This differs from a lot of the Bass Gang's material in several notable ways: 1. Most obviously, it has instruments. Have they ever done that before, as a group? 2. There's a lot less multi-tracking than usual. Marwan's run-down at the end of the word "amaze" overlaps the start of his next line (which is a quite cool effect BTW), but other than that I _think_ each of them was generally only singing one part at a time here, and that's unusual for them. 3. I think this is only the third song that they've done with basically coherent lyrics. Their first two albums focused mostly on the Panic at the Disco / Billie Eilish / Imagine Dragons style of clause-salad song, wherein individual lines in the lyrics sound meaningful but you're missing context, and when you put them _in_ context it doesn't actually help. They deviated from that for Hide and Seek and for Hooked on a Feeling, and this song likewise. Maybe I'm missing another one? 4. The same singer has the lead for basically the entire song here, and I can't think of any other song where they've done that.
I think Peter said that they are covering the whole movie. I am so jazzed. I would so much love to see Marwin play Aladdin on stage. I think that it was a fortunate mishap that Marwin couldn't get his Visa in time. The stunning visuals from the Egyptian dessert just crown this video.
Lol, that close up on Peter- the opera haircut always throws me, especially if they cut to him directly from Tomi. Just in case anyone forgot he wears a tux for a living (not really true, Opera does use costumes, but it's still a funny thought)
@@katetracton131 Please provide me a timestamp for that moment in his video because I heard from Tomi and Marwan themselves that Tomi performed the growl.
@@officialmortius At 21:46 Peter said he’s been working on his “false fold phonation” and did a little demo. However, now that I’ve watched it again, he never actually said his was the cave voice. So maybe I’m wrong? Whoever did it, it was frickin’ awesome!

Minds, bodies and pens lol

Peter says the music over the credits is karoake background music available to the gang's patrons who want to sing the lead.

33 Pauses, 2 Near PG13 brushes, 1 Headphone removal, and 1 Sciatic nerve agitation. That being said, I feel your pain on the sciatica
