I love Peter walking down the last few words in subs rather than just the last word/syllable. It sounds so creepy and really suits this kind of a song. Great reaction Mortius, I'm glad I could catch it as soon as it came out!
I have not been a follower of _The Pirates of the Caribbean_ franchise. But I do like the music that has come out of it. And I absolutely love Bobby Water's (aka Bobby Bass) arrangement, and his sister's video making.
Rather than referring to all the subs and growls and fries as "gimmicks", which, as you note, has unflattering connotations, my go-to way of describing all these below-chest notes is "stunt notes" or "effect notes". They are still real notes and are still legitimate ways of singing, but they are there for flourish and color, rather than being the body and focus of a song...usually. The category of stunt/effect notes also encompasses things like Mariah Carey's whistle register and Avi Kaplan's overtone singing.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think they're using metallic face paint for this video. Which gives the illusion of it appearing to be wet with the right lighting. Other than that, this was definitely an enjoyable reaction to watch! Thanks for creating this Mortius!
Whenever I recommend this video to someone I just have to add "And guess which one's the opera singer!" They sound fabulous. I've added a fourth to the top three a cappella groups, with Peter Hollens #5 as a non-group entity. All from me discovering Home Free's Man of Constant Sorrow about 2.5 years ago.
Thank you Mortius, my appreciation for Bass Gang pieces always expands when I watch your reactions because you help me slow down and listen to more layers and become even more impressed with these four gentlemen and the people who support the production of such awesome videos.
This could prove one of your epic sleep deprived reactions especially as you have a melt down to most Bass Gang video's. Get some sleep and enjoy your time off
I love this one from them its spectacular.... mildly unhinged sleepy reactions can be fun XD I am amazed at how much they have pumped out music wise lately and they have all been awesome. Also damn Nicole's video editing is awesome :) I am just thinking its probably a good thing that hide and seek wasn't recorded late night XD
you know recording at 11:21 pm is definitely not a bad time to listen to bassgang and also my brain went to lamp rampu every time I see the lamp of bassgang
I have been anticipating this one! I knew you would be broken at least once and by my count you broke at least 3 times. Love it! Glad I’m not the only one that has their brain broken by The Bass Gang.
Yo dude!!! This was almost creepy??!! Like scary movie background music. They are very talented...no contesting that. Still on the fence as to whether I like it or not. Just brings me down. Kinda like a funeral dirge. They do have great harmonies...I guess I'm not into the song. Great reaction Dude!! But then you always do a fantastic job. Love your enthusiasm and the joy you get out of each of the songs you react to. It's contagious! LOL 😆 🤣 Could you please do a Pentatonix reaction? Their A Kiss From A Rose 🌹 is the best I've ever heard them sing. I know you will love the song. On a scale of one to ten, it's a 25. So good. (Of course it's my opinion and yours may differ.) Thanks again for what you do! Sending you love from Texas ❤
This was an instant add to the playlist lol but you also called out stuff I hadn’t heard yet, so that was cool! Also I like this combination of sleep deprivation and Bass Gang 😂
Not saying this to take away from the arrangement, because it sounds amazing, but Peter said that in the beginning the really high pitched notes and the really low one were synth. Also all the drums are instrumental, not beat boxing. Obviously, later in the piece, they get up there really high so they're capable of it. Insane. I also love how in this piece, we get a good chunk of time with each guy individually to really hear their voice and what they can do. This was spectacularly eerie and wonderfully bassy.
A little flinchy, are you? I do enjoy The Bass Gang. I'm trying to get them scattered out with my reactors. Speaking of which, look up J None's solo - Am I Here.
Great reaction love your channel please check out Michael kors wicked4whitney it's not Acapella but it's a combo of Whitney Houston and wicked the musical also his Hercules the muses medley is great
An unhinged, sleep-deprived reaction to the bassy-est sea shanty in the history of sea shanties - PURE GOLD!!
I love Peter walking down the last few words in subs rather than just the last word/syllable. It sounds so creepy and really suits this kind of a song.
Great reaction Mortius, I'm glad I could catch it as soon as it came out!
This chorus of dead sailors giving warning to others who love young lads who would go to sea.
Great reaction Mortius.

Was expecting you to lose your mind. Was not disappointed.
Same. Been waiting for this once

I like that!!! I’ll try to keep that in the back of my mind

Enjoying getting all these Bass Gang releases so suddenly, thanks as always for your thoughts!
Peter's bass opera and that transition into F1 subharmonic is insane

“Oh yeah, its go time.”
Thanks, Mortius, for a very entertaining, late night record session of The Bass Gang.
It sounded like a choir singing, quite beautiful..
A crazy and fitting reaction to a spooky, eerie and definitely bassy piece. Thank you!

That was the reaction this song merited! What a great song!

That was joyous Mortius. Thank you for sharing and brightening my day.
A very deep interpretation ❤

Great production.
This one would be great for Halloween next year.
The second guy singing does the growl technique to get to that extremely low note
this cover melllllted me, love them sm ❤ and of course your reactions are always precious, I freak out the same!
I love the late night reactions
This song has quickly become so completely stuck in my head. I'm honestly half surprised it didn't make it onto my Spotify Wrapped playlist
I can´t recall Peter ever having such a showcase of in your face decrescendo bass except just in the background singing on some tracks.
So much bassy bassness! It was fun watching you react!
you know recording at 11:21 pm is definitely not a bad time to listen to bassgang and also my brain went to lamp rampu every time I see the lamp of bassgang
This one hits you in the belly. Still quivering.
I have been anticipating this one! I knew you would be broken at least once and by my count you broke at least 3 times. Love it! Glad I’m not the only one that has their brain broken by The Bass Gang.
I wish they'd take this haunting style, get together with Lauren again, and do Pirate's Lullaby.
This is amazing!!!

Love your reaction. This song is epic
This was dedicated in loving memory of Sam Waters. My love and prayers to the Waters family.
This was an instant add to the playlist lol but you also called out stuff I hadn’t heard yet, so that was cool! Also I like this combination of sleep deprivation and Bass Gang 😂
Such a fun reaction. The start of the last verse is so good!
That was a fun reaction. They threw me off too and it was amazing

Did not disappoint. :)
Bassious. If it's not a word, it should be. 😊
Cool reaction as always Mortius.
I think you should react to O Tannenbaum by Tarja Turunen over Christmas.
some was made in memory of Sam Waters. who is Bobby Waters cousin
A little flinchy, are you? I do enjoy The Bass Gang. I'm trying to get them scattered out with my reactors. Speaking of which, look up J None's solo - Am I Here.
💜
Wow. That was sssoooo cool. Very eerrie
Yes this song is the longest The Bass Gang has done so far. 43 seconds longer than their second longest Be Prepared. All else below 4 minutes.
Mortius.exe has crashed; unable to restore brain data....
Was this what happened at 7:02?
It's to late for you to be doing these things to me 😅 Sir same
