I love how people don't understand the point of building a smaller bike. They are like...just buy a H2 and race it!! I can build a 600 race bike that will smoke this. Yea..I'd hope so, but can you riding it? But, some people want to race in a different class..some want to save money and have it done right. Sure, you can buy a 600 and throw it on a track with only brakes and pipe perhaps...but these little bikes, you can do a lot more for the price of a new 600.
The 300 series bikes are becoming more popular and that is exactly why Kawasaki responded to the need with the 400, i agree with you and so does major bike manufacturers...
Agree ..also these so called little bikes are capable enough to get you out of tricky situations, it gives you enough fun on open highways , gives better mileage also if not ridden carefully they can pass you to the other side( after death). So these so called little bikes are actually much more practical. Litter class bikes are strictly meant to be on the tracks only but people made it like these litter class are the real deal....pity on them.
@@xzavierroman3949 I still have the bike to this day with like 15k miles. It's so slow now compared to upgrading to a 2007 R6. Still a good around town bike. Going to sell it soon
Glad to see you moved over to Ninja 400 for racing. Ninja 400 is romping at race tracks in Thailand. Yesterday I was reeling in 2018 RC 390 again and again effortlessly at Bangkok kart track.
Put that on a dyno. I'd love to see the HP and TQ chart And I want to see Ari do his best lap on it at Laguna Seca. Then do a comparison with Ashton Yates' record setting time.
awesome! kawi knocked the ball out of the park with the these 400 ninja’s. the 250/300cc class are still ok bikes but 400cc is just right for new riders & they have something to work with once they get there skill level up.
Most fun I had during my wera days was on a rd 400. This thing would be a blast to wring it's neck around a track with 12 other guys doing the same. Find out who the best at finesse and corner speed real fast.
Authentic Max lol relax dude. Bc I could buy a slightly used one for 2800 and just throw a little money at it here and there. And they're fun as hell. I was just at MotoAmerica in Utah last weekend. Lots of r3s in the paddock haha
As I've said,ever since I started riding on two-wheels 25 years ago.................I'd throw a leg over a smaller,lighter,quicker (but not faster) smaller cc'd bike ANY DAY of the week,than a larger,longer,heavier cc'd bike!!! As Smaller=More Fun!!! :) ~Peace~
This guy really loves small displacement bikes, especially to race them. I dont blame him, they are fun and accessible to every one. In Uk there was the 500cup, I wonder if it's still exist, they used Honda CB500's which were also great bikes to race with.
Plus it's been developed and set up by a real pro, so there's value in that. Anyone can throw parts at a bike, but chassis setup is what's key and that takes experience to do right.
You are correct MotoAmerica is not MotoGP.... but this is a MotoAmerica bike prepped by a professional costing you 20k, not a MotoGP bike costing millions. Not entirely sure what your point is.
I meant to say that its a Junior Cup class... Rules specification don't allow you to go bananas on the mods so definitely the bikes will be way cheaper plus the fact that there are plenty of parts manufacturers and big price competition between parts manufacturers have made things a lot cheaper. Thanks.
Ari - I know the front needs to be lowered slightly for the vortex clip ons to fit, but do you know if the rear was initially lowered to match when the front drop? I know the rear shock is adjustable, but Im looking into installing vortex clipons to my wife's 400, but its still on a stock rear shock and stock front suspension. I didnt know how much "too" much was when lowering this particular model. from what I've read it should only need to be dropped 5mm, but I'd hate for her to find any stability issues when shes out on the track.
C’mon... We all know that nothing adds more speed than stickers on the bodywork. Heck, its scientificaly proven that red ones even saves weight, while silly ones help reduce the aerodonamic drag.
Hey Ari 👍, can we swap instrument cluster of two different bikes of same brand.? I believe you can answer it as you go into the depth of the bikes and their working and also have worked in a lot of bikes.
It is a A2 bike.. An A2 bike has a power limit of 35kW = 47bhp and a power to weight limit of 0.2kW/0.268 bhp per kg, so if you want the full power of 47/48bhp you need a bike with a wet weight (full tank and oil) of 175kg. The Ninja 400 comes in at 168kg so the power limit is 44bhp.
Do you think that this bike is more capable than the R3 for Track build and use? I’m about to get one of them for track build . Opinions which one to take????
Nice bike. I'm just wondering how did they manage 310 lbs. The curb weight is 366 lbs. 56 lbs is a true dry diet with stock wheels... Anyone? I'm planning to change my old zr7. Can't make a choice between a new bike or a second hand with less displacement that I could turn into a little race bike with the money saved.
On every video featuring a small bike, there's always someone saying, "in India, this is a big bike!". Okay. We know. Get it tattooed on your forehead.
I'm an Indian biker, I just liked 'that' comment and saw yours. But your comment made me crack hard! Seriously. 400cc+ bikes are getting common (or maybe i ride one so i like to think that?) Anyways, cheers man, have a nice day! PS its not a smart choice to go anything above 200cc around here, our streets are small and chaotic with slower traffic.
Collin Mac lol. If you are trolling and you're not Indian then this is a pretty rare, high maintainence & pricey bike for india. Whats common here, comparatively in this segment, is a cheaper, hence heavier, sohc variant of the duke 390, dominar 400. And then there are the Royal Enfields out there with 350cc+ motors.
It's legally a Big Bike here in the Philippines...........in my unwanted opinion, for these roads it's big enough.....tricycle drivers, potholes, shingle, goats, kids, crazy suv drivers, the list is endless lol
No, there isn't more. He changed the power curve because he couldn't rev it out. Learn about the area under the graph.. You can trade hp for torque or visa versa.
@@skewty Of course there is more. A custom cam profile isn't going to suddenly fall flat on it's face after the 10k limit, if the limit is removed. Increased compression ratio practically guarantees that. The math formula for horsepower just requires more revolutions per minute to increase power, everything else equal. If the heads can flow more air, they can make more power with faster engine speed.

Yeah, I hadn't gotten that far in the video :S I just feel for Yamaha and all the money spent in this class that became instantly invalidated by the release of this bike. We've got a A2 license arms race now. Which is great for riders, but is going to be painful for the racers for a couple of seasons until the R3 gets upped in displacement. The 390R was also a huge kick in the teeth from the discussions I've had with Ken Hill and others who coach these kids.
Ari Henning Does that mean the Ninja is your favourite of all the race-prepared small bike’s you’ve ridden/built? Even better than the RC390, R3, and CBR300?

That's because rd's are life.
I'm building an r3 race bike. Where the money really starts to hurt is all the lightweight parts.
Ayup, those aluminum and ti fasteners really add up!
Why do you want to waste money on a R3 ?
Probably because that's what he already has.
