I’m Micronesian and I must say, I’m impressed by the amount of research you’ve done on this segment. History of Micronesia by Francis X Hezel should have enough information about this region if anyone’s interested. Yes, we are rich in culture, yes we have very strong traditions but we also watch RUclips a lot, spend loads of time on social media, and because of the Compact of free association with the U.S., we do have Micronesian families living and working all across the U.S. ...I may have a lot more to say but it’ll take me a whole lot of time so I’ll have to end with a little addition to the list of athletes. Jennifer Chieng is a Yapese who’s recently transitioned from her Wall Street job to be a professional MMA fighter and has just debuted her first fight on Bellator 208. I once randomly got a call from Micronesia, it just rang once for a very short time so I sadly couldn't pick up the call. I didn't know the number but saw that it was a foreign dialing code so I googled it. At this point I've never heard of Micronesia before but since then it has a special place in my heart. :D

I just love how Micronesia, Marshall Islands and Palau (also Kiribati) are represented as like water. I know it’s because the Islands stretch for miles and the reason for the water is like a “zoom out” but it really shows the characteristics of being apart of Oceania.

Chuuk has amazing shipwreck dives, Palau has some of the best underwater world dives in the world, and Pohnpei, Kosrae, and Yap have beautiful diving as well. Might as well just do an island hop. 😄

Being the adventurer I am I wouldn't mind on my last few years on earth hiring a small boat and going to the islands across the Pacific, they look like undiscovered gems. And the marine/wildlife looks amazing too.
I love your rendition of FSM citizens as cousins that lost contact but are still united as a family. That is the Micronesian mindset at its' core. Along with the 4 states most Micronesians see all of Oceania as family web. Even with our distinct differences we can't deny we are a interconnected not just because of our "Mother" the ocean but with our cultural values and expressions. I was in Micronesia last Christmas & New Year’s (verrrry chill). My grandfather fought in Operation Hailstone, when the US Navy caught the Japanese with their pants down and caused the single greatest navy loss in Japan’s history. I spent a week diving Truk Lagoon, floating through so many wrecks and some may have been the ships that my grandfather helped sink. It was like a near perfectly preserved museum, the action frozen in time.

When I was stationed in korea in thr 90's, I was friends with a fellow soldier who was from Micronesia, he was going to visit home on his vacation time, he said it takes 2 or 3 days to get there and back. He had to fly to hawaii from korea, then fly from hawaii to a Micronesian island and then catch a smaller plane to his island home and back. Crazy !!
This is my first time to hear about this country. Had a dream today and when I woke up, I tell it to my boyfriend - there is a country near our country (Philippines) and whenever I look at the sky, I saw the Philippines image formed by a cloud and there is always another country near it. Then he searched for countries which are unfamiliar to us and the result shows FSMO. So we read and looked for documentaries about this country, and I love everything about it 💞

One of my favorite facts about those Rai stone is that one of them was accidentally dropped into the sea while it was being transported in. Nobody ever physically saw it after that, but everyone agreed that it still counted as currency and they traded it as if it were one of the land stones.
