was waiting for someone to do a video in the perspective of a colorist, amazing bro. And btw I like the way of your videos, looks like we are having a conversation, pretty cool keep going.
Glad to find this video. After 2 weeks of watching "now we'll render 10mins of -no effects -no NR 264 footage" mac studio reviews Thanks! Watched all, no skipping)
Hi Gavin ! Thank you so much for your reply about monitor advice. I did reply to your comment but it looks like the comments disappeared here under your video. Please report it to RUclips. Also I’m looking forward to watching your new content 👍😊
I wonder who will watch the whole video. You should speed it up a bit and show some stuff. I like your some videos you have potential. Please try to make those more fun.
all about time spent. but would rather hear from someone that actually works as a professional in a more "boring" way than a full time youtuber that lacks the experience or is super detached from the industry since they don't work there anymore. I see too many videos about creating cool looks rather than discussing really important stuff. good job gavin
Hi Gavin! Can I ask for some advice? I finished Darren Mostyn’s courses last year, and now I’m working towards becoming a professional colorist. After watching this video, I’ve definitely decided to save up and go for the Mac Studio M2 Ultra instead of the new Mac Mini M4 Pro. Could you please recommend a good but affordable monitor, or should I go for the Apple Studio Display? I want to build a setup that will last at least 5-6 years.
The Apple Studio Display is not a good monitor for color grading. It‘s totally sufficient for content creators but nothing more. All monitors with 100% SRGB are good starting monitors. Something like my Benq SW270. If you dont mind the size or the price, I would also recommend getting a TV as a reference for you/clients. I recommend the Sony A95L or the Panasonic MZW2004.
I have both a PC like the one you described, and a Mac Studio M1 Ultra, 128GB, 4TB SSD. My PC with the Noctua fans is very very low noise (the blackmagic Ultrastudio does more noise), I bet they did something weird with yours. However for Davinci I use the Mac Studio. It's an excellent machine for Color Grading, Editing etc. I bet you will love it.
Just curious are you also using a BMD Ultra Studio 4k for your grading monitor? if not how do you make it work for you going directly from the mac and still maintain color accuracy?
@@Gavin_Haughey_Colorist nice!! Is there something special about the Apple M chips that this is possible and still get accurate color reproduction without a monitoring card?
How much RAM do you usually use for color grading? I'm thinking about buying Mac Studio M2 Max, is 32GB RAM enough for colorist, or is it worth paying extra for 64RAM?

I actually like it this way! Unfiltered. But I know what you mean. Other people on youtube do it in a mich more entertaining way.

The TVs also have the benefit of being rather future proof with 4k and HDR.

Exactly what I‘m doing!
@@Gavin_Haughey_Colorist so you are going though a BMD Ultra Studio 4K?
@@knightpsonline yes!

32GB are fine most of the time but I would still go for at least 64GB. Just to be safe.
It’s 128 to much?like realistically
Was it the 60 core or the 76 core?
I got the 60 core! Totally sufficient!

Hey! It‘s combination of a standing desk frame from Fully and a grey tabletop from the German brand Innwerk. It‘s 2x1m.
