These sound very tempting BUT - 21 years ago I made the move to Hungary. Turns out today it is the safest most beautiful and least expensive place to live. It is in the heart of Europe if you want to get in your car and travel - go to the countryside to buy from farmers - fruits, vegetables, raw milk and milk products and even meat. I had no choice - when I figured my style of living on my $1000 retirement budget - it would have been a sad fact anywhere. Cashed in my 401K and even with the penalty for early withdrawal - it bought me a 1000 sq ft downtown apartment with high ceilings and lots of windows. By now, I've become a dual citizen which means free domestic travel and medical insurance for under $40/month ALL INCLUSIVE. Can't tell you how relieved I am not having to worry about ending up on the streets for my old age. Now there is also a country house and a vineyard. Was a realtor in NC so if you have questions - please feel free to ask. I'm retired and would love to help anyone else who wants to enjoy their golden years.
Thank you, Ella Stern. You are so kind.

You can retire at a young age if you invest wisely on time, Most times it amaze me greatly the way I moved from an average lifestyle to earning over $63k per month, utter shock is the word. I have understood a lot in the past few years to doubt that opportunities are bound in the financial markets, The only thing is to know where to focus.
I keep wondering how people earn money in financial markets, i tried trading bitcoin on my own made a huge loss and now I'm scared of investing more.
@@susanhaynes679 That won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Mr Tony Alin berker my coach, you may have come across him on interviews relating to bitcoin. He trades, manage trading account and offer mentorship program for clients who wish to become professional investors.

I TOTALLY DISAGREE!
SPAIN IS AN EXPENSIVE COUNTRY!
Spain is excellent in many ways and cheaper than most European countries, but they still have a developed country mentality, so freedom seems a bit compromised; it's nice to be free and have the economic freedom of living in an affordable country. Affordable countries can include the Philippines, Mexico, Ecuador, Panama and several other choices. Spain has nice beaches, but I actually like beaches in Brazil and Mexico better for the view and the quality, too. Spain has amazing castles and lots of history, too, so it's nice to travel around and see things, too.
TOTALLY AGREE. Barcelona is expensive as HELL....
@@tiffsaver I do believe Valencia is much better than the crowded Barcelona. Spain and Portugal are nice places, but I like some of the Western Hemisphere - I stay summers in Mexico and it's cheaper and with nicer beaches and for the most part excellent people. Spain is good for Europe, but those countries are sort of far north and colder - the tropics have endless fruit and it's beautiful.

Who on earth considers 2,000 a month to be CHEAP !!!

When your from Southern California 2000 a month is cheap. 2000 doesn't even cover my rent sadly.
I live pretty well on 3k a month in NC. Own home, motor home, motorcycle, car. Never buy new. I have lived in over a dozen countries and visited over 50.
I was just in Panama a couple of months ago. When they say “live comfortable on 2k a month” you have to understand that it is not going to be just like the US. The standards are different. But it goes back to that old adage, “everything is a trade off”. So you will loose some things and gain others. It won’t be the same as the US, But you will find wonderful things that you didn’t even know that you were missing. Like LOW crime, especially violent crime, really good caring people. Wonder FRESH HEALTHY food. Not the processed crap that we eat. To keep costs down and have a richer experience, make all efforts to speak the language. Unlike America, the locals will bend over backwards to help you. And if you don’t live in an exclusive expat type community, it really will be much less expensive and as I say richer experience. If you expect to live “just like the US” it may not work. Be flexible, open minded and respectful and you will be rewarded.
2000 per month is poverty in northern VA, USA.

Forget Thailand. Living there long term as a retiree is turning into a nightmare. Almost on a weekly basis the government is coming up with harsher regulations and penalties against foreigners. Every 90 days you have to report to an immigration office, if you spend 24 hours away from your registered address you must make notifications or face fines. You are constantly overcharged by the locals. Any dispute or disagreement of any nature and you are deemed in the wrong, and you must back down and let them have it their way, or risk being beaten and hospitalized.
Hey I agree with you Thailand sucks. Philippines on the other hand is like Thailand was in the 70s I rest my case.
yep i hear that too they are becoming desperate like a few others enforcing extortion tatics....... and threats........spent 3 months there myself will not go back.....
Wow, that sounds incredibly lawless. I thought Thailand was a safe place that followed the rule of law.
Clearly retirees are not welcome especially if they are not wealthy. Along with harsh immigration rules the financial requirements are frequently being increased. To get a retirement visa you have to keep a substantial amount of money in a Thai bank account along with income requirements.
You are right..living in Thailand is more and more oppressing..What you feel as a tourist is not what you feel as a resident...

U can rent a pretty descent studio type apartment in the Philippines for less than a $150 a month. Buy your self a good food for $3 a meal. Subways and transportation systems are kinda bad but at least they're working to make it better.
you can say cheap by considering how much a person can get average salary in that local place, how much he can spent for apartment, daily food, phone charge, and finally how much remaining money he has in a month. If you come from USA, don't compare your earned US dollars to this country's cost of living, it will always appear cheaper.
True. If you want to live in the same way as you're used to, you will find the Philippines isn't cheap at all. For example quality of houses is low compared to Europe. No free health insurance, no free schools like in my European country. Etcetera.
$150.00 PER MONTH for a studio probably equates to $2.00 per hour in USA wages over there...just saying
Lol after seeing this video and the comments, I've realized, living here in Mexico, not a big city or on the coast, I've paid for an unfurnished apartment just for $61 per month, and you could get a great meal each one for 3 dollars as well. And If you are a veggie person it's even the cheapest way to save, you could get a meal for 2 dollars.
Where? With all the respect, but i dont think so 🤗
Go east Go west but home is the best
Edit : thanks for the likes much appreciated 😍
For some the definition of the word "home" is ambiguous. There are those who have primary residences (like me) in some place like Arizona, but they also maintain secondary residences (like me) in some other location. The idea is once they choose to retire, the "ditch" their primary residence, and go to the secondary residence permanently, provided that is still their plan. My primary residence is Arizona (same for me wife). Our plan is to "ditch" Arizona once we retire, and move to Vietnam, where we maintain a place there...unless something precludes it.
ADVANCED TRUCKS - absolutely - no place like home!
I'm supprised you didn't talk about the Philippines! I'm renting a house there for 50 Canadian dollars by month.

Philippines is still the best place for retirement.
As long as you have a piece of land, with a house in the province near the city.
Just do a livestock raising, such as chicken, hog and other animals for your protein.
Also, do a vegetable gardens for your vitamins and fibers.
Monthly bills such as water and electricity can be minimize or can be totally free. Just have a deep well for water source and have a solar panel for electricity.
For clothing, very cheap if you are just looking for everyday uses.
Transportaion, you can buy a good secondhand car for about $1000.
Communication, internet is only about $30 per month and about $10 for you phone bill, if you're going have postpaid plan.
All in all, your monthly expences will fall only on communication and transportation.
I'm surprised they didn't mention the Philippines. With 50 pesos per dollar I only know of a few places with a better exchange rate and lower costs. I agree about getting a modest house outside of a city. I am a permanent resident of the Philippines
Well it is still a disadvantages in Philippines
Because we still a developing country...

Cheap public transport , take away lunch from a 5* HTL under 2 x USD,
Good medical facilities etc

Philippines???? Are you NUT? With Psychopath duterte leading the killings with his EJK and fake drug war that stands at 36,000+ ... The political and economic climate here are not conducive for foreign travelers and investors. It's practically a death wish to foreign investors brave enough. One does not need to be too smart to figure that out. Psycopath LIAR duterte urges his police(PNP), his military(AFP) and his vigilantes (Duterte Death Squad-DDS) to kill at their pleasure. The death toll right now stands at 36,897(and counting) in his fake war on drugs and EJKs. Remember the german tourist, who was kidnapped, ransomed for 2 million dollars and released. Then, was stupid enough to come back and got kidnapped again and this time no more ransom paid and lost his head, literally by PNP. Another one, a Korean businessman named, Jee Ick Joo was kidnapped by the PNP police and after the wife paid the ransom, the PNP chief IGNATIUS FERRO, Head of PNP Anti-Drug, hack him to pieces in their main police HQ and feed parts of the body pieces to their dogs, cremated the remaining parts and flushed down the toilet. (No witnesses, they PNP said). But some of you are idiots anyway, my advice, takes an insurance policy, at least 3-4 MILLION DOLLARs, in the event you get taken as a hostage, in that way, you're leaving your loved ones financially taken care of. And for your protection against the police (PNP) bring a body armor with you, the likelihood of being shot or killed by Duterte Death Squad(DDS)vigilantes or PNP police are extremely very high and these are for extortion purposes only. They do not hesitate to kill and mutilate you. If you are that stupid enough to get caught up with it, in between, then you are really fucked in a very dire strait fuck-up situation !!! Stay safe by staying in your room, lock the door and do not be stupid to go out after dark. OH...and by the way his DDS vigilantes are on this kidnap for ransom scam, too. The good part they take the ransom, the bad part they will kill and chop you to pieces and scatter the remains in Manila Bay for the fish to fatten up (duterte said and recommended that. It's not a joke!). Good Luck

I kinda surprised of missing the Philippines on the list because I've seen couple of articles about my country as ideal place for expats. Hehe!!! Try the Philippines!!! So nice, so friendly and well educated people! Living for Europeans is so so cheap you wont believe it!
And such an adorable President!!
Yes of course,try the Philippines.
European cost of life, for Asian country infrastructure.
These people who tell for 350$ per month are scammers.
500$ per month,at the very least if you have family and everything constantly getting more expensive, because Philippines is an emerging economy.
And for provinces of course, because Manila is a Metropolis for thick wallets.
Tell the truth to the people.
Philippines are cheap, only for high pensioners of Europe,USA,Canada,Australia etc.
English is official language and people are really friendly, that's the one and only truth that you write.
Except of course the discrimination that you will face if you have low income, because all people of the Philippines (and most of Asian countries), expect that the foreigners must be billionaires (or at least millionaires)...
Stay in your country.
And if you are struggling little, try to slightly lower your needs instead (that your society created and increased, finally) and don't search for any lost paradise.
@@harryhoudini1669 I dont know what kind of experience you made in the Philippines but you sound embittered. My experience is much different. Its not necessary to be rich! And if the family ask for money, you have to be clear you wont support the whole clan! They asked me for money to renovate a house. My answer was simple: How you wanna pay back? And it was done!
It worked without any problems. I dont know how muuch pension the US, Canada, Australia have but with a minimum pension rom my country you can live a nice and peaceful lie there! Example: I payed for food a month 300 US. This allows me to feed 4 persons but always was somebody else there to eat wit us. So maybe your expectations are a bit too high or you dont communicate with them in a proper and clear way.
don"t mention dilawan an uneducated people..
I agree with the cost of living in the Philippines. The only drawback in the Philippines is healthcare. Especially if you are a retiree and if you are living with a chronic illness or a pre-existing health condition by that age. Healthcare in the Philippines is one of the worst & very expensive. People would rather die than spend all their hard-earned money on hospitalization & medicine. Other than that, Philippines is a nice choice for retirement.

The presenter suggests that in Malaysia, "you can dine in a good, local restaurant for less than six dollars, including beer". (maybe 20 years ago) Today's reality: a large bottle of Tiger beer in a good local restaurant costs at least US$ 4.00 ! A simple plate of prawns (shrimps) without side dishes (rice, vegetables) will set you back around US$ 5.00 or more. A bottle of wine can cost US$ 100.00 and more (less in supermarkets). How do you define a "good, local restaurant"? If a good local restaurant serves beer, it can get expensive (to recover the annual cost of a liquor license). Credit cards and air conditioning also indicate large bills. I won't even go into the red tape of obtaining a social pass (government's permission for a foreigners to reside in Malaysia). As the saying goes: if it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't. Don't rely on RUclips documentaries.. Do your own research; talk to expat residents (not diplomats); come for a visit before committing yourself (not just Malaysia). Stay safe and healthy, everybody! Regards from Sabah (Malaysian Borneo)
