      I have been to Panamá City, it is a small city, with a lot of visual fantasy, you can feel the grandeur of GOD, the two Océans at the same time, see the Pacific and when you look back at the Atlantic Sea it is to be wrapped in a visual paradise, called Amador.

    Hi!
    Question to 0:34 and 1:44.
    0:34 "I actually just started a new job a few months ago". Traditional grammar clearly tells to use Past Simple with adverbials of time referring to the past, such as 'yesterday', 'last year', 'a month ago', etc. At the same time, traditional grammar tells to use Present Perfect with 'just', 'just now', etc. Please explain why Present Perfect is used in this sentence?
    1:44 If the word 'just' is used in Present Perfect, why then in the sentence "We just came back from vacation" Past Simple is used?
    Thank you.

      Hi, great question!
      "Just" with present perfect is more common in British English, whereas it is more common with past simple in American English. In fact, American English doesn't generally use 'just' with present perfect at all (except some exceptions, like official announcements and news reports). We are in Canada, so our spoken English is closer to American, but our written English is closer to British. Thanks for your question!

    Hello) I'm sorry, can you explain me? Why is on 1:45 in the sentence "We just came back from vacation" Past Simple, but not Present Perfect?

    • @EnglishPandaLessons
      @EnglishPandaLessons  2 года назад +6

      Hi, great question! When we use the word 'just,' past simple is more common in American English, while present perfect is more common in British English. Both are correct!

      We had just come back ..?

    • @EnglishPandaLessons
      @EnglishPandaLessons  2 года назад +3

      This is also correct, but it is past perfect and therefore has a different grammatical meaning. Past simple and present perfect tend to have the same meaning when using the word 'just'. Thanks for your question!

    Warum I’ve had students from all over Europe and Asia mostly warum spricht er nicht im simple present und warum benutzt er present perfect

    • @EnglishPandaLessons
      @EnglishPandaLessons  2 года назад +2

      Hi, great question! He would use simple present to talk about his current students (example: I teach students from Europe and Asia right now). But in the video, he is talking about his current students as well as past students, so present perfect is correct to use (because he is speaking about students from his whole teaching career). Thanks for your question! Next time, try to ask in English, it's great practice!
